No. HMMLR are ECs in City 2 and are unrelated to the MAA. I've noticed that a few people here may not have a MAA character from the event we had previously.
Let me repeat myself:
The signup for this event is limited to the previously signed up members of the Arteria Arm and individuals wishing to play specified event characters. These characters are specified on page three of this thread.

Basically you applied for a role (The MAA) that required you to have participated in a prior event that already finished. You can however still apply for HMMLR.

Tommy Jackdaw
Tommy is a middle-aged man now, but when the Portal Storms began, he was only a teenager who had just turned sixteen. He was a farmhand in a family of farmers in the Scottish Highlands, living near a town. Fear was common during the storms, but news from other parts of the world made him and his fellow townsmen realize that they were much better off. Besides, they could live off the land as they have been for decades. Then, the sightings began. Friends and family went missing in the night. In the end, he was left only with his mother, dog, and extended family in London. He was eighteen when the ancient Caledonian Forest cropped up on his doorstep. At that moment, he and his mother decided to leave for greener pastures. Bound for London and unaccustomed to city life, Tommy spent most of his time taking care of his mother and his grandparents.
Tommy eventually joined the military, hoping to secure a better life for him and his family. He thought if he worked his butt off in the British Army he would be able to eventually buy a better home, far away from the chaos erupting around the globe. Unfortunately, his efforts attracted the attention of a Special Air Service officer in the 22nd SAS Regiment. He accepted reluctantly, knowing his fate would end in death, but at the very least his family's future would be well secured. He had just graduated the grueling selection and training process and was looking forward to some well-earned rest.
But that's when the Union came.
Tommy was involved in the fighting against the Combine. He watched as they butchered the men he fought alongside and the friends he made in the service. He watched as they sent barrages of artillery into his neighborhood, the last of his family reduced to dust with the house. He watched as machines of mind-numbing complexity, machines of a warped alien design; cold, relentless, murderous, invaded the city and demolished it within hours. Faced with no choice, Tommy retreated into the London Underground with hundreds of other civilians and soldiers.
With nothing to live for anymore, all Tommy wants is revenge.

What role are you signing up for:
The HMMLR Major (If not then one of the elites)
A basic backstory for the character:
Noah was born in the south of Wales. His father had died when Noah was only 6 years old, leaving him with the responsibility of the “man” in the house. Taken straight out of school and being put to work in menial tasks like cleaning chimneys or helping in the coal mine earning barely enough to scrape by.
Just after turning 18 his mother had passed, leaving him broken until talk about war happening in the Middle east had started to spur. Noah had become instantly interested by the proposition of camaraderie and adventure, and with nothing left to lose, he signed up for the British army. However his dream of an adventure had fallen through when he was shipped off to London to defend the city if anything were to go array. He was to be stationed there for the rest of his service unless they needed troops for an immediate draft to war, a godsend for some, but hell for Noah.
Noah refused to stay complacent, immediately started to train, honing his skills slowly before applying to join the Special Air Service, his application was accepted and he was taken to the next selection with a few hundred other candidates.
The test was brutal, pushing Noah to his limits but he was prepared, gritting his teeth, pushing through and finally being selected as one of the very few SAS operatives.
His dream of adventure had finally been answered. He underwent many special operations during his time in the 22nd SAS regiment, he was recognized for his acute leading of teams and sharpened skills, quickly going up the ranks landing himself an officer position.
Then the combine attacked.
Noah was tasked by his higher ups to defend London at all costs, he watched as the army was slaughtered bit by bit by the freakish alien mechanical machines.
He witnessed the power of the striders as they demolished London in mere hours.
The power of the organized force storming the grounds of London.
The power of the elites as they butchered some of his finest men.
Noah, seeing the inevitable loss of London had ordered his squad underground into hiding, it was safer but not perfect, some of his comrades would still disappear without a trace. Noah had a vendetta against the combine, organizing small attacks around the city with his remaining squamates until their supplies ran dry.
To this day he still wonders the corners of the underground with a few team members, helping each other out along the way.

Former SAS Operative
(HMMLR Elite)
- A basic backstory for the character
Kitchener joined the Royal Marines at the age of 16, with barely any qualifications to his name, his only option was to enlist to earn a living. Two years after his enlistment, he was fitted for active duty at the age of 18 and was shipped off to a small corner of the world to fight for a bunch of worthless islands near Antarctica. Here, on the HMS Sheffield, he became known as 'Cook' by his fellow Marines, a mockery of his last name. The HMS Sheffield sunk in the Falklands war, and he had to survive with bugger all in the middle of the South Atlantic facing an Argentinian hostile force. Here he truly became one of Britain's finest, and after the war he was invited into the SAS.
Twenty-odd years later, a new war was waged, but not for some insignificant island, for Earth itself. Global military infrastructure was gone in the blink of an eye and thousands of Cook's comrades fell in their duty to guard the capital against hordes of aliens, and eventually, the combine.
The SAS has almost been hunted to extinction, but even now, a decade and a half since the 7-hour war, many remain determined and fighting.
Cook is one of them, being middle aged now, he still has a good decade or two of the fight left in him. He won't let some dumbass Arteria get the better of him.

- Cook will not accept orders for any mission he sees as certain suicide, victory is the goal, but it is not worth sacrificing the lives of many fighters to achieve. Live to fight another day is his objective.
- Other than the previous, Cook is fiercely loyal and will fight tooth and nail if it means it will mean something.
- A reflection of the professionalism bestowed upon him by his years of service both prior and after the 7 hour war.
- A preference of smaller and dispersed squads rather than a large and concentrated force.
- A complete and utter detesting of all things combine, they're traitors! The Arteria are willing participants, too! He will show no mercy to injured Arteria soldiers.
- An emphasis on group discipline - the smallest of wrongs will be pointed out and critiqued to keep the resistance in perfect shape.
- Prefers to do sniping / recon missions against the enemy or at least be backed up by a reliable recon team in an overwatch position.

- A basic backstory for the character
Kitchener joined the Royal Marines at the age of 16, with barely any qualifications to his name, his only option was to enlist to earn a living. Two years after his enlistment, he was fitted for active duty at the age of 18 and was shipped off to a small corner of the world to fight for a bunch of worthless islands near Antarctica. Here, on the HMS Sheffield, he became known as 'Cook' by his fellow Marines, a mockery of his last name. The HMS Sheffield sunk in the Falklands war, and he had to survive with bugger all in the middle of the South Atlantic facing an Argentinian hostile force. Here he truly became one of Britain's finest, and after the war he was invited into the SAS.
Twenty-odd years later, a new war was waged, but not for some insignificant island, for Earth itself. Global military infrastructure was gone in the blink of an eye and thousands of Cook's comrades fell in their duty to guard the capital against hordes of aliens, and eventually, the combine.
The SAS has almost been hunted to extinction, but even now, a decade and a half since the 7-hour war, many remain determined and fighting.
Cook is one of them, being middle aged now, he still has a good decade or two of the fight left in him. He won't let some dumbass Arteria get the better of him.

Neutral good - he's ready to get his hands bloody if it means the restoration of the old world and the abolition of the "Universal Union."

- Cook will not accept orders for any mission he sees as certain suicide, victory is the goal, but it is not worth sacrificing the lives of many fighters to achieve. Live to fight another day is his objective.
- Other than the previous, Cook is fiercely loyal and will fight tooth and nail if it means it will mean something.
- A reflection of the professionalism bestowed upon him by his years of service both prior and after the 7 hour war.
- A preference of smaller and dispersed squads rather than a large and concentrated force.
- A complete and utter detesting of all things combine, they're traitors! The Arteria are willing participants, too! He will show no mercy to injured Arteria soldiers.
- An emphasis on group discipline - the smallest of wrongs will be pointed out and critiqued to keep the resistance in perfect shape.
- Prefers to do sniping / recon missions against the enemy or at least be backed up by a reliable recon team in an overwatch position.

BACKSTORY: "Growing up in Westminster his Mother had left him and his father at a young age before Bill could even talk leaving him to learn only from his Father in life.
At the age of 8 his Father had decided that it was time for him to learn how to defend himself in life."
"At the age of 17 his Father had gotten into deep debt with a nearby gang and his father and then had to join up and pay off his debt by robbing for them which of course he indoctrinated his son into starting Bill into a life of crime"
"Bill would only start Petty crimes such as mugging people and robbing small gas stations for cash and as years went on he racked up this cash until he was 23 and the gang had told him and his father that their debt would be fulfilled if they helped the gang with a big job...a job which would have them robbing The Credit Union bank near Paddington station where they would hijack a train and drive to a safe location to drop off in the countryside....Unfortunately..they agreed to help"
"The day arrived and Bill was armed with a pistol as they entered the Credit Union bank where the gang had told them to stuck up the hostages while they enter through the fire exit and open the vault..They went in and held everyone down...His Father told Bill to hold the hostages down while he found the rest of the gang and help get the goods out...His Father went behind the counter and Bill waited...he waited for a full minute as he heard approaching Sirens as he looked panicked shouting where everyone was...but they never came..it was clear that they had taken the money and ran..leaving him behind..his own father betrayed him..Why he thought as he dropped the gun and raised his hands in the air."
"Bill had been given a Thirty Year Jail time for multiple thefts and the robbery of.the Credit Union...However he was dealt two choices..Take and Serve out his scentence..or take part in a program that enlists criminals into the military for their freedom..Bill chose Freedom."
"The first few months had been rough on Bill..drill instructors giving him hell due to his past however..the program said he had trained well and aced his tests..he was a free man...Bill chose to stay in the Military as he was to be stationed right back home in London yet Bill said he wished to sign up "For Some action" as he said and applied for the SAS and their training course.
A Week had passed as Bill had been in his bunks when he got a letter..he had been accepted and was to report to headquarters for movement to the training course..Bill was thrilled."
"His training was horrifying as he pushed through it putting his Body,Mind and soul to the limit as he was put through the many agility,Torture and Physical Fighting tests they threw at him..He earned his nickname "Brick" here as his sparing partners almost always said "He hits like a fucking brick".
Time passed until his final test results had come through..he had passed..and he was now an SAS operative."

"Bill was ordered to head immediately to London and fight back against these new attackers which had Bill and his squad flown in on multiple reinforced helicopters until they landed near The Docks and The London Eye.
Bill watched his squad get gunned down and slaughtered by these creations of destruction as he grabbed as many as he could and lead them down into a nearby Metro Station..as they ran down the stairs they checked their watches "Jesus..we've been at this for fucking hours now" They heard noises above them and stayed silent..Time Passed as the gunfire stopped..and whatever Screen could broadcast would spread the message "Earth has fallen..we have made the decision to surrender" the squad would be in shock..they discussed what to do...they couldn't just surrender..why?..Bill took charge and said "Towns in shambles..Metro Lines and cut..were all fucked but that doesn't mean we gotta die...we should split up...ain't now way I'm surrendering.." And with that..Bill walked along the metro line until nothing could be seen by his squad."

--BACKSTORY--
Howard Knight was born in London, where he found himself raised by a family of bankers. Although his parents wished him to pursue mathematics and the more posh elements of life, Howard was deeply interested in athletics and rebellious activities.
When he came of age, instead of going into university, he instead signed up for the military. Using his family connections, he eventually found himself signed up and qualifying for the Special Air Service. His bravado and acts of unrest were quickly squashed during his grueling training sessions. Unrelenting pain, always seeming to be just short of breath; each day seemed longer than the last, but overcoming all odds, Howard was not the type to wash out.
At the end of it, Howard was interested to find some action; he dreamed and envisioned numerous scenarios of how they would be deployed; each idea becoming more akin to a film script rather than an actual military operation. Regardless, after the Portal Storms ravaged the Earth, it seemed he would get his chance...if it weren't for the Combine.
The Seven Hour War was brutal and swift like a knife carving through warm bread. Howard, always attempting to be the bravest and the man with the most initiative, found himself shuttering with fear and contempt. His willpower shaken by the power of these unworldly invaders. But alas, after hiding down in the London Underground with his fellow countrymen; he survived the global calamity unscathed.
Now dawned a new world; an Orwellian dystopia, where people like him are no longer needed. Or so he thought. Howard became an outcast and stuck to the slums of his former birthplace, London, thinking he would be drifter until his dying days. But after being encountered by a resistance group, and realizing their potential, he found himself a new area of employment.
Recognizing Howard's credentials as a former SAS member, he became a member of the HMMLR Elite, performing raids and skirmishes across the old city. But now, whispers of uprising have manifested itself into truth; After all this time, Howard will finally have his 'great battle' that he had imagined for so long take place...time will tell if his gallantry leads to his doom.

- A basic backstory for the character
Born in the year 1980, Jules Hartman is a man of few words. He joined the British military in the year 1998 with the hopes of joining the Special Air Service. Through simple hard work, and perhaps the tiniest bit of luck, it would be so. After a harsh selection process, and rigerous training, he would eventually become a full fledged member of the SAS.
Hartman carried himself in a professional manner. Even amongst his unit, he was known for having a quiet and reserved personality- but a stone cold operational demeanor. Of course, he communicated as needed and built a basic rapport with his brothers in arms- but it was never more than that. It was in training however where his qualities shined. He always seemed to be aware of the situation. While he lacked the fervor and passion of his comrades, he fought in a deadly silence beyond his required communication- which sometimes brought the chagrin of his fellow operatives.
When the Resonance Cascade began, Hartman was called into action. In the face of aliens throwing green bolts, he fought with efficiency. Even in the midst of the terrifying alien grunts, he held a quiet resolve- and a deadly aim. In the following few years, he and his unit was often deployed to combat the Xenian menace wherever it became an issue- among other inter-human conflict and that of other vortigaunts.
When the 7 Hour War began, at the age of 24, Jules Hartman once again carried the silence into battle. Even he would come to admit that the synthetic forces were quite the adversary- which obviously proved true once he and his unit, after suffering heavy losses (and a critical wound himself) retreated into obscurity. The days turned to months, and his unit found fit to disband in order to remain covert and incognito. The months turned to years, and Jules Hartman found refuge in the outlands, using his survival skills to live off the land in relative solitude as he occasionally formed contact with his old team- should they be alive.
Now, the year is 2017. For so long he has remained in the shadows, living silently as he always has. At the age of 37, he has been called back. Witnessing the horrors of City 2, and the mockery made of his Queen, he has formed ties with his old unit. In silence, he has returned, ready to begin again what he failed to do those many years ago.

- Jules Hartman prefers to simply follow orders, and do what is expected of him. He is not a natural leader, but can lead if need be.
- Jules Hartman is tactical, as is expected of him- but when left to his own devices to come up with a plan, he prefers the quick and quiet approach. Ambushes, silent takedowns, and blistering fast offenses that leave little to follow in its wake. He is still capable of frontal assaults however, as with any SAS member.

- Jules Hartman is a silent professional. A man of few words, though he will communicate as needed.
- Jules Hartman prefers to simply follow orders, and do what is expected of him. He is not a natural leader, but can lead if need be.
- Jules Hartman is tactical, as is expected of him- but when left to his own devices to come up with a plan, he prefers the quick and quiet approach. Ambushes, silent takedowns, and blistering fast offenses that leave little to follow in its wake. He is still capable of frontal assaults however, as with any SAS member.

Uses Guerrilla tactics and unconvential means to gain the advantage on the conscripts.
When possible, loot better equitment.
Ready to fight for HMMLR but not to die for it.
No previous millitary experience, relies on more vetern members of HMMLR to know what to do.
