PK's too soft

Bring back NPC deaths with the exception of barnacles and player head crabs. (malicious rp ruiners)

No way. I got hit with a Bullsquid that did 45 damage to me in half a second today when I turned a corner, I imagine many people can die from that on accident. Having months of character development thrown away by an admin spawning an NPC is cringe.

"waaaaah I came from semi serious rp and i dont wanna lose my script whore character, I don't want a reason to be careful or spend less time below ground because all i can do is search trash and i dont want to rp on the rp server!!!!!!!"

Yeah, got a problem with that, buddy?

I disagree in general with this. I feel that PKs for NPC deaths should be resolved for exceptional circumstances like a player running through an infested zone to get a script. Otherwise it should be okay to die to an NPC.

A bit more nuanced than just 'I don't wanna die and lose my scripts', because you are well aware how janky NPCs can be with TBC. Also sounds like someone who doesn't RP much as a rebel at all. People who are BOL'd literally cannot do anything other than spend time underground during active hours, or hide in apartments, but with most of the apartments being claimed, the only way you're gonna be doing that is if you know people who own them and they trust you.

Of course, you can and probably should run from fights you don't have to take, but most of the time people prefer not to leave NPCs like bullsquids in the sewers for other people to die by. I wouldn't mind the implementation of NPC deaths again but it would put strain on the admins to examine each case of NPC death in a scrupulous fashion, whilst leaving the deaths by NPC to properly RP'd out deaths would be much more fluid and fun for everyone involved.

Of course if you do a sewer run with most of your health missing, the fault is on you if you get got by a bullsquid.

Considering the inconsistency of NPC's and the unreliability of fighting them in TBC... this is not a good idea, especially since you just straight up get PK'd these days.

Yeah, similarly said by me - NPCs are janky as fuck in TBC and it shouldn't be the fault of the player if they get subjected to death cause of that jank.

Another thing against putting PKs on NPC deaths is that they're spawned manually by admins instead of a finely tuned automated system, meaning the intensity of the encounter will differ wildly depending on whether a random admin decides to be nice or not, which isn't exactly fair.

I’m all for this. In fact, I was very sad to see the policy go. Personally I think everyone should be PKed in general. I like the idea of watching people’s progress go down the drain because of a barnacle. It’s appealing. It’s funny. It needs to come back.

Bring back npc deaths ONLY when npcs are fixed

Yh true. After reading all of the comments, perhaps a slightly differing policy. That being only certain npcs are a pk. And while that is more annoying for the staff to moderate, I don't think it'd be too difficult being a staff myself

So perhaps basic enemies like: Headcrabs, Fast Crabs, Zombies, Fast Zombies and half life 2 basic antlions could be pk's.

Meanwhile harder or more broken npcs like bullsquids, houndeyes, armoured HL:Alyx antlions, panthereyes etc shouldn't be.

Though that is less to my tastes. I just miss the sewers having a deadly element and not just a script farm. Problem for me is, even if you get the nlr, usually people go script hunting with their ic friends. If their friend dies they just pick up their gear and give it back later, making the entire trip to the sewers utterly risk free. But, I'd rather meet in the middle with my suggestion if the majority are so against it.

All that being said, when I do admin box events in future I'm gonna tell people before they sign up that pk's are on for all deaths from now on 💀

I get flashbacks to the 4-month old rebel who was PK'd because the server restart kicked them back to spawn and they got grabbed by a respawned barnacle on the only ladder down to where they were.

The appeal was denied.

NPC's are jank with TBC, especially with low weapon damage. Even a fast zombie in your face can combo you 2-3 times for a third of your health before you can do so much as move or start stabbing back. Bullsquids and Houndeyes utterly slaughter you because you can't dodge them the way you are supposed to.

I think most people are in agreement. NPC PK's should have never been a thing and should never be a thing again, unless the death involves S2RP or is in a major fight. Dying to some sewer NPC due to some horrid garry's mod induced bullshit isn't fair at all.

Tbc sucks. I wish it was gone. Making everything fairer. Whenever i spawn npcs i enable s2k for the players straight away.
