December 18th, 2007Since the end of the Seven Hour War, the claustrophobic halls of District 1 have served as a vital source of labor for other surrounding districts. The Combine elected to stuff an inordinate amount of people into the Pit, and the Administration of this cramped behemoth has kept itself afloat through a clever mix of narcotics exports for the elite and workforce contracts with neighboring districts, all in the spirit of mutual cooperation. An infamous example was the highly publicized “Mutual Prosperity Agreement” with District 7, through which D1 supplied workers in exchange for much-needed ration shipments, medical supplies and consumer goods.
However, unbeknownst to the main C13 Administration, overpopulation has for a while begun manifesting itself through the formation of peculiar cliques and like-minded groups of citizens- Or, as they are less amicably referred to by locals, gangs. These factions vie for control over the area’s most important sectors, each with a vision of their own for the future of the District.
The average citizen resorts to liquor and narcotics to cope with their miserable existence, hoping for a relocation to literally anywhere else in the World. This has allowed for the proliferation of drug rings, ignored by the local administration in an effort to pacify their populace. However, savvy units and citizens alike have begun to take advantage of these addicts, beginning to fund their own personal drug operations.
As a provider of raw labor force, the local administration need not do much besides continue funnelling manpower to other Districts. Sitting atop their Ivory tower, they have continued to ignore the District's problems as nothing more than minor nuisances, unaware that at any moment one of the local groups may start growing enough numbers to pose a serious threat to their power.
Now in late 2007, the situation has officially reached a breaking point. District 7 has officially terminated the “Mutual Prosperity Agreement” and shut its doors to D1, having itself entered a period of reconstruction following a chaotic wave of riots. With the loss of one of its most important external partnerships, D1 finds itself more isolated than ever, leaving its already ailing population ever more desperate. D1’s locals must find a way to become self-sufficient using their own decrepit facilities, as well as find some modicum of leadership to replace the cronies of the local Administration.
It will be up to the players which kind of gang they form/join, what ideals they choose to champion. Will they become renowned saviors of the working class? Maybe profit off of the misery and degradation of the local populace? Or perhaps just more meat for the enormous grinder that is District 1…
EVENT RULES
- The Pit is set to run from July 8th until v3 launches. These dates may change due to IC/OOC reasons.
- The event is free for all to join, but you must fill out the application if you wish to be part of a pre-established gang or faction with a base of operations in D1 at the start of the event. Civil Protection whitelist holders are exempt from this. If for whatever reason you want to keep your gang low profile, send your application directly to me (@Badger) through discord or forums.
- Character transfers to the main V3 map will be possible (though not guaranteed) through IC means.
- No departments exist within D1 besides Civil Protection. Local gangs have their own medical personnel who help and assist members with their injuries, as well as their own workers and guards.
- Weapons are extremely limited. Ground units are equipped with batons, ordinary folk with melees (metal pipes, crowbars, knives, anything goes). The event is meant to have a strong focus on melee combat roleplay. S2K should be minimal.
- A step above this are pistols, owned by high level gang members and command units. ANYTHING MORE DOES NOT EXIST as it’s not in circulation within the district. Factories are simply not producing them due to lack of materials and inexistence of a Civil Workers Union, and importing more from other districts would drive D1 into further financial degradation.
- PK’s will be handed out befitting the policy for V3. Roleplay meeting up to the PK must be of high quality. Death must serve the story in one way or another and deliver some sense of purpose. Players may possibly be placed into riot environments and lethal injuries or deaths can and will happen but that doesn’t mean they should feel forced into PKs when it does not befit the situation.
- ET leads will not shy away from kicking players known to cause issues within the community or known to have miserable quality of roleplay from the event. This is to ensure that it does not turn into mindless S2K (even with mostly melees being accessible) and the quality of the event isn’t tainted by people who are there to script farm or otherwise ruin the fun for everybody else.
- If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask any of the ET leads!
