A Swedish investor and economist, well acquainted with the Civil Workers’ Union and their inner workings. Shrewd yet well-meaning, Karl is known for his lavishly decorated office, where he sits most of the time, willing to listen to anyone’s problems.
Karl was monikered before the 7-Hour Liberation as the Baron of Stockholm, one of Sweden's most influential industrial financiers. During the 1980s and 1990s, he headed a highly successful investment firm, amassing a sizeable fortune through shrewd investments in up-and-coming industry giants such as Sandvik, Scania, and Electrolux. His uncanny ability to identify long-term opportunities, along with his image of a well-meaning, community-oriented businessman, allowed him to exert considerable influence over media and politicians alike. However, none of his efforts would matter, as mankind's Enlightenment would soon fall upon us all...
After the 7-Hour Struggle, Karl found himself stripped of family, fortune and prestige. Relocated to the newly established City 13, he immediately sought solace in an occupation, joining up with the local Civil Workers Union. For around a year the 60-year old toiled away like any other regular citizen, watching as the conditions of District 7 degraded around him, until at last- An investment opportunity presented itself.
Two local collaborators, the publicist Florian Zaborski and public speaker Céline de Villiers, were looking for partners in the Civil Workers Union for their new enterprise- The Harmony Collective. Long dreaming of taking part in an organization with considerable public outreach, Karl didn’t have to think twice before joining up with Florian and Céline as their main financier. An older individual with considerably more experience, Karl would both teach and learn from his new partners, each forming a mutual bond of trust and co-operation.
During the trying years of 2005-2007, Karl would witness firsthand the damage caused by mismanagement and insurgency. As a former foreman, his ties with the CWU would allow the organization to thrive through surplus ration distribution while keeping the Collective financially afloat during the harsh conditions imposed by the Mutual Prosperity Agreement. However, the situation would soon erupt into full-blown riots, caused by the dissidents who wish to see our Society burn to ashes.
During the chaos, the lives of both of his partners in the Collective would be claimed, and in addition, District 7 lay in shambles after the clean-up. Karl, wishing to keep the spirit of the Collective alive, decided to work with the CWU, utilizing what remained of the Collective's funding to rebuild the District into a harmonious, prosperous utopia, where dissidence and disorder is swiftly excised.
As the sole remaining founder of the Harmony Collective, and after the dismissal of the previous Administration, Karl has been left to take up the mantle of Chairman during the first month of District 7's grand reopening. Somewhat thrust into politics by force, Mr. Söderberg seeks first and foremost to foster an active and effective political scene, one which ensures Order, Stability and Unity above all else. Leading his own Harmony Party, he is open to any and all opinions that may fall in line with our Benefactors' purview, and is actively seeking new party members that align themselves with the Collective's ideals.
Under his watchful, spectacled eyes, District 7 shall never fall into chaos ever again.
