Barthélemy de Malemort
"Bien faire et laisser dire."
Barthélemy de Malemort was born in 1960 in the 7th arrondissement of Paris in his family's private mansion. He was the one and only son of the Malemort family. The mansion he grew up in was quiet, and he learned upper-class etiquette. When he was only eight years old, civil unrest broke out in France. Malemort watched the city descend into chaos. His father told him to observe what was happening and never be like them, as the family's values were against it. When the time came, he was sent to Switzerland to be educated at Le Rosey. He studied there and socialized with other children, who were the sons and daughters of powerful people. He was not very good at school, but he was smart, and his mind was made for business. He graduated from Le Rosey with decent grades. Then, instead of going to a university, his father sent him to the family's private textile mills in Lyon. Barthélemy learned the family business there, spending nearly half of his days tailoring fine suits.

When the Cold War hit, Barthélemy was in charge of the business at age 31. Their tailorship was known worldwide among the most prestigious people, catering strictly to multimillionaires and billionaires. Wearing one of their signature suits was a clear symbol of wealth. His father died from an illness a few years later, and Barthélemy officially became the Master Tailor of the business. Around the late 1990s, Barthélemy signed a contract with a Swiss-founded defense contractor. He then began specializing in tailored armored suits. The Malemort Tailorship nailed the deal. Through Barthélemy's skilled hands, he sewed prestigious armored suits that looked completely casual from every angle. These suits soon found their way onto government officials. By 1999, Barthélemy's tailorship had become the true standard for powerful people, but that did not last long.

Around those years, news of the incident at Black Mesa spread everywhere. Worried by the events, Barthélemy isolated himself in his mansion with his mother. His mother was ill at the time, but he had no other choice. The Portal Storms made Barthélemy even more anxious. Not knowing what to do, he hid in his mansion with his mother and servants. Then, after some time, the sky cracked. The Combine rained down on Earth like alien scum, and the Seven-Hour War quickly began. Barthélemy was not a warrior. His mother died of a heart attack shortly after the war erupted. With little time left, he locked himself in the mansion's secure basement. After the war finally ended and humanity surrendered to alien forces, Barthélemy saw an opportunity. Luckily for him, when the construction of the cities began, City 13 was established around the Eiffel Tower, though his mansion was no more. He did not waste much time and settled in the city for good. He chose to be loyal to the new regime and to continue the Malemort legacy. He opened up a shop as a tailor for the locals, mending people's torn clothing. The newly appointed administration knew about Barthélemy, and some of them even came to his shop to have their suits tailored. Not long after, he heard about the Harmony Collective. Around 2005, he officially joined them as a trainee. He proved himself to the Collective, and within a few quick years, he became an Associate. Now, in 2007, he is a collaborator for the Combine and a member of the Harmony Collective.
