Character Name: Rhodes LeBlanc
Faction/Group: Les Arrivants

Reason for Appeal:

Okay, so I'd like to preface on the main argument of this PK appeal is that after asking the person who played the character Lucille (whom betrayed Rhodes LeBlanc). After seeing their reasonings to explain why their character do as they did. I feel like the reasons are poor and borderline unconvincing to fully justify a betrayal of a peer that they had worked with for an extensive amount of time.

Counter-Evidence/Arguments:

So, in DMs we of course discussed after I prompted them by asking 'What were your character's reasonings' which they digressed. Here are the points they compiled:
"Since, I don't really know what you want at this moment by trying to argue something that the killing of his character was silly,Like, I organized it, spent time gathering the boys via RP, I organized a fake meeting after a real one and we got ready to get you in a spot.Firstly, let's start with this:
  • The guy has shown to not be unreliable and rash
  • Lucille is not a trustworthy individual
  • After the events of the beheading, a target was painted on her and Rho', even if it was for a day.
  • She didn't like the actions of his leadership
  • The fact she had to take up the mantle of organizing people, arming and feeding without much support
  • Powerhungry
  • Wanted to be the chief of the gang
  • Plotting to kill him once she realized that he's not very verbal or cordial with anyone
  • Not being paid"
They also went on to argue that being 'starving and hungry' has an effect.
They also claim that they did not 'know' him as well.

My rebuttal was:

1) Unreliable and rash? Not really a whole reason to murder someone
2) Just because one is untrustworthy doesn't default to murdering someone
3) This idea of a target is weak seeing how the officers just gave us a warning, and the anarchists were still in hiding
4) Despite not 'liking' the actions of his leadership, she actively worked and collaborated with him
5) This was a role she decided to play herself to the maximum, and decided to remain silent on. Blaming him for running the logistics of a gang is like the most dumbest reason by far
6) Power-hungry? Lucille as you just expose is equally power-hungry as he is, simple hypocrisy
7) Verbal or cordial? Have we forgotten him rallying the entire district against anarchists? An uncordial or difficult person wouldn't cause this at all
8) Paid? Doesn't outline to be a merc at all and rather treated it as a group project

Okay, so let me explain my main points. A major contention you can point out of all the vague/poor/temporary ones was the fact that she did not like the actions of his leadership. This is completely non-sensical as she was an active/willing collaborator to everything my character executed. Working with the clinic? She backed it. Taking out the anarchists? She backed it. Recruiting people to join? She backed it.

Another one is the mantle they 'took' on despite the fact that it is a simple consequence of RUNNING a gang. What does my character have to do with the logistics of the gang? Their character chose to support everyone with existing materials and remained silence on their dislike of having to play this role.

Power-hungry I guess is thematic to District One but my counterpoint to this one in particular is that she was already equal to him. Especially having known eachother since they first met in District One. Simply wanting to oust your mate who pretty much put you on the same pedastal as him for more 'power' that she already has is relatively weak.

Not being verbal or cordial? This makes no sense because Drifter was rather a persuasive figure that managed to RALLY an entire district for his own means of wiping out the anarchists. A person known to be 'uncordial' would not be capable of doing this. He had good terms with the Precinct, Appachi-Zoku, Salvagers and Clinic for the most part. Lucille herself (their character) has seen this himself.

Not being paid? She was never hired, not treated as a merc, and rather seemingly was in the gang of just having people to rely on. So far, not a lot of people join gangs on the pretense of being a merc or getting paid. She does not fit in that ball park at all. She joined out of a sense of mutuality and understanding.

At last, not knowing him? What do you mean you didnt know the guy who gave you his full name, background and worked with you for over a week?

A lot of this is just meh reasonings that dont exasperate the reason to go as far as killing him. Since the dyanmic is much different than a two rivals having conflict. Everything was built up to be a tight bond.

Proof of counter-evidence:

Additional Information:

If this is to get appealed, on the potential that in my defense I murdered someone's character (Vasil). I believe the whole fight should be voided or altered in a way. Though the odds of this appeal succeeding feels unlikely to me because I guess stuff like this is thematic? But I just feel like with the dynamic I've described here. It is all too weak and borderline cheap to allow.

I feel like if anything when asking for a proper/solid reason it felt like they were just pulling straws at multiple reasons to justify the murder. Relying on volume of their reasons rather than the quality of them to justify things.

@Halostrophe hey I was GMing it with @LyingFox Would you like us to add the people that took part in the PK to the post? It would paint a clearer picture of the multiple reasonings.

This mainly has to do with Lucille in particular. All the others were just added to the cause, I do not think they were main provocateurs as in DMs it was described to me by Lucille's player as their plan.

but one important thing i need to mention is the fact that if this PK appeal does get accepted, and Vasil died (i'd be more shocked if he survived in the first place). UnPK him as well.

Hey Halo, it's me, the acting GM of said event for more than 90% of the interaction.

The PK, was also authorized by me -- Not granted directly towards Lucille, but to Vasil, whom had extended out that PK Authorization to peers that assisted.

Here is a screenshot of reasoning I deemed fit -- This is the more indepth reasoning behind it all.

The idea was Lucille did not like the way Rhodes was handling his group. Getting people into it without any rhyme or reason, not particularly caring about his people in terms of feeding them, arming them, or even paying them. Then, Rhodes, upon taking control of the P.A. system and caging the Governor, got ideas of taking control of the District and disarming the populous. This really miffed Lucille, whom had disliked Rhodes leadership style and now his passion for taking over the city (there was another dude in the Arrivals group with the same passions who was Rhodes' left hand man, but this would maybe have been the next hit) through more violent means, which would undoubtedly put her boys and the group in risk.
This is the gist of it if I remember correctly.
The reason why we were involved, is because we want to carve out a path out of the city, and people like Rhodes would create issues along the way, since they could easily be swayed towards position of taking and holding more power. Also, at the time, we thought they had the governor, so the idea was to take out Rhodes (and maybe his left-hand in command), save the governor, and hopefully work out a solution with him to relieve us of the tithe issue, or have him figure out a way out of the city.
So, Lucille's side, its a grab for power; while our side, its removing a chaotic element that could cause strife and cause issues to our operations.
@LyingFox That good enough?
Also, you should probably DM Lucille yourself about the reasoning on her side, and not me acting as a pseudo-intermediary.

@LyingFox Oh, for Lucille's side, there is also the killing of that Black Flag dude on main street, which really put a lot of pressure on their gang. So much so, the police wanted to put the blame on them for the killing of the first governor.

Quote: So, Lucille's side, its a grab for power; while our side, its removing a chaotic element that could cause strife and cause issues to our operations.

Here is also, video evidence of the PK.

I'll put it blunt, you're an amazing roleplayer man -- Seriously, I've seen you around and I'm very glad that you're having, or had, a fun time in D1, but theres a list of issues regarding what happened during the Roleplay session that directly alters my views of you over this, and I'm sort of.. Mixed inbetween it all, since I genuinely do agree with your reasoning.

I personally vote to keep the PK, your character knew the risks of even being associated with a gang, let alone being the "small guy" as you were to put inbetween all of it.
I thank you very, very much for not bringing up anything about "unfairness" during the S2RP, as, I truly tried to make it easier for you to combat a 1v6, in situations like those, you're bound to lose if you don't have a gun.

I appreciate responding to this LyingFox, and providing the reasoning of Vasil at this moment. Looking into it I will also mention you have an affiliation to the group that laid out my assassination. So I think we should take this into consideration. Secondly, I will mention that at this stage for seemingly no good reason so far (as you've agreed with my reasonings) that Lucille misled the Cartel about me.

A) Arrivants never actually had the governor held hostage (there was a brief idea of it spoken but never acted)
B) She actually convinced Drifter to stand down with this ENTIRE idea. Then I went to log off for the day (and being subsequently messaged to hop on urgently about a 'meeting' which was my character's demise).

So, this is what bugs me. It was clear before the 'meeting' that Lucille persuaded him not to go with this idea. This is evidently much clear and @Haijulikani can attest to this as their character left the scene seeing that mine (Rhodes/Drifter) ultimately took her side.

At that point it makes no sense to kill me when I was reasoned with, and willing to tone it down, alongside go low-profile with the gang effectively coming down due to Drifter planning to disappear. Vasil has been effectively misled at that point. With no good reason from Lucille to enact this 'power-grab' which is what it is at that point since all of the things she said about him never did. HE was never in control of the PA system, it was Kamil's character. HE never caged the Governor. Not even Kamil's character did that.

A misled group on what Drifter supposedly did, a poor reason to kill him by Lucille so far from the reasonings I responded with. I

Again, thank you for coming out and affirming that a second party went about this. Though now I can clarify what went down before Vasil was told anything and rather the genuine truth which should now further justify why I think this PK is downright silly in the first place with all the RP that has happened.

Hey, Halo.
I knew the mention of it being my group as well would.. Bring up some questions, I know.

I, honestly, had no clue this would've happened, all I got told in DM's is if I could come around and GM something for Vasil and some guys, which, I agreed to -- Hense why my character just snuck out into the bathroom.

We've already spoke in DM's regarding the other issues -- And I'll admit it, you've persuaded me, I do think the floor-reason of why your character got PK'd was pretty bad of a reason, and that either I, or Vasil, got mislead on the proper reason as to why the PK request was made in the first place.

What I understood from all this situation is, that the people didn't like your leadership and your readyness to kill anybody disturbing your plans or your ruthlessness. Imo we should ask all the people that helped killing your char, since even if one or two of them wouldn't agree they would decide to speak up. You begged them in the fight to stop, yet they didn't, I got the logs for it. So my question is WHY didn't they stop? imo we get the reasonings of the others. So if about 6 people decide it in a meeting before killing you, there gotta be something. Once that is cleared up we can decide... but yeah just my opinion.

Speak of the devil, one of my members which helped with the betrayal @mmate88 would like to testify what they got told in perspective.

Also, this logic makes zero sense. Everybody else was mostly influenced/assisting due to the lies Lucille spread (that was done without any good reason to).

Thats what I mean tho, having more clarity and opinions of anybody involved would be better. Im not against the un PK dont get me wrong.

EDIT: Add the people pls, would be nice

its been three days, can somebody please from management please look at this?

Hi, sorry this has been looked into before now- just we have not yet gone a response on this topic. I will do some more looking into this today.

Focus was elsewhere for the time being hence why no response was recieved yet from any management member

Hi Halo,

After a quick review of the situation, we found that the Q2 condition of the new PK rules was not met and this PK will be revoked.

The attacker you had in question at the time decided to use OOC communications to discuss how to end your character while in the middle of combat and because of this rule break, the PK will be invalidated.

If you still have your character, please hop on when convenient to ask a staff member to remove the PK from your char.

Thanks
-Rob

Given this PK is now under dispute- please hold

Hello!
I’m the person that plays Lucille Harper, one of the main characters whose entire reasoning behind her actions is being discussed and put under question in this PK thread.
For four days, I’ve not been reached out to and all of my input in this entire process has been either through correspondence with people I know, or through informal DMs where my character's decisions were being questioned.
Now, I’m learning that this entire decision is being granted without me having a chance to speak on my character’s behalf: of their actions, of their reasonings, and of their knowledge.
Secondly, the way I learned about how the PK was handled was through me reaching out to a manager and only learning then, that it had been granted due to a rulebreak on my side.
I was never notified that such a thing had occurred, and I wasn’t warned by anyone.
I spent four days without knowing I had broken a rule of conduct during the entire encounter.
I understand that the staff is being hard at work, trying to make this event the best it could be.
I’ve enjoyed it plenty! However, this decision was taken so quickly and so rashly, without me being given any sort of transparency.
It leaves me in a bad position and makes me feel like I was left on the wayside without being given a voice.

With this out of the way, and since I'm now part of the discussion, and before I go off to explain my side of things, can anyone please explain to me what rules were broken and the relevant context behind?

Hi,

Just re-reviewed with some more eyes this time.

This PK is currently sitting ON HOLD until we can fully provide the full list of events.

There will be a new answer in the next 24 hours.

The GM observing the scene affirmed in my DMs (I insisted they speak here but they refused because they want to avoid getting involved after a bout of trouble given to him by Nath and Badger).

Mind you he was also a part of the original scene prior to my murder, active on his character which was involved with cartel affairs.
