(Below is an open format application, but it can be best to describe what may motivate your character.)
Growing up in Hamburg the woman had a relatively easy life, the daughter of Medically orientated parents whom strived to push the woman down their line of work - a life built on success. Nadine herself showed very little interest in medicine, only pursuing Cardiology for the simplicity she found in the hearts equations, appeasement of her parents and expectations to fill. With a different name, Nadine would have been a free spirit, unshackled by burden. The crest darkness of medical culture haunted the womans past - abuse and villainy was struck to her subordinates in her earlier youth - a trait of which she had fought hard to undo. A compassionate woman was brought forth after fateful incident with a distraught medical student.
In her young adulthood the woman was far more interested in partying, drugs, nicotine and every vice that lay in-between. Growing up suited the woman poorly - and although she wore her suits well, one could almost always see the loose discomfort that adorned the professional apropos.
On vacation in Paris with her family she found herself one day, a break from the blinking lights, monitors and PPCI catheters cut brutally short by the portal storms. Her partner, Felix, stuck back in Hamburg. Separated they found themselves, and a new life was born to the woman. Knowledge, she found, was power in this new world - her only way of staying alive.
She started off by humbly asking a Mister Ray Colton for a job at a clinic in District One, running two fronts of a bad business - the covert aspect responsible for drug making and backstreet deals. While Nadine handled the cushier front of the business, the clinic. Treating and mending the District's wounded with what little supplies she'd been able to foster.
This promptly caused her to be thrust into the position of Minister for Health - a reputation befallen her of one of leadership and making the most of a bad situation - with a positive inclination to most within the district as a largely neutral party to the affairs of those whom would wage war on one another.
As Minister of Health she was embroiled in multiple conspiracies - one such conspiracy that of killing LaRue and Barbier, though she was unsuspectingly conscripted into this role by Milada, the Governor. Though this ultimately proved to be his own downfall.
Nadine was a temperament in the storm - where others had sought power and conglomeration Nadine was infamous for brokering peace and negotiations between parties.
Though her ultimate failure being her inability to prevent the eruption of war within clinic territory - through her own hand, she ensured no casualties in the bloodshed. Despite the fact she hid away in cowardice during the fighting and only returned to treat the wounded once the fight was over, she was parried with the title of 'Hero' by those around her - but little of it was felt to the womans heart.
Nadine scarpered a reputation amongst the citizenry and officers - an expert at playing both sides - a self-described 'Switzerland' in the chaos of the city. The Civil Protection Units respected and revered her presence and word; even being used to arbitrate conflict between officers. As well as a constant to the average citizen whom may be wounded.
The writing remained on the wall for the Good Doctor. The district was being thrust to disrepair, isolated and cut off from all exterior help she sought to make plans of escape - some through the railway and eyeing up prospects Lt Kastel had of finding a safe exfiltration route through the city.
In the mean-time, she stood perched upon a daggers blade, perched within the heavy hearth of a smog laden district; with only the hopes of escaping and finding Felix Becher - or some other malcontent of hope - once more.
Her sights set upon District Seven - a party of inspiration garnered her focus, one of unity, one of the people with which she saw herself in. Despite the manipulative decadence Nadine had wade her soul through - she still remained merely just a mortal; "Who would ever want to be king?" A mantra struck true to the womans heart.
