Have Vortigaunts be equally effected by cold conditions

From the Vortigaunt Megathread
Get too cold.. humans shiver, Vortigaunts shut off all capillary action to their skin. Basically traps heat inside their bodies so the only place they have to keep insulated is their faces. Compared to Humans this means that they are somewhat more resistant to hot and cold in all environments but not universally so and in many cases they may have to use non-biological means such as a basic vortessence trick known as Energy Transformation or even in rare cases clothing to resist the ambient temperature.

While this does state that Vortigaunts are only 'somewhat resistant' to environmental conditions, such statements are loaded and are often taken to their most extreme ends in order to garner advantage and make things easier for the faction. We've already had one event where vortigaunts were completely immune to the main threat of it - spores - and it added nothing to the setting.

Vortigaunts should, at base, be just as vulnerable to cold conditions as it will be the primary environmental threat for all players. Vortigaunts getting a free pass will be not only unfair to others, but cause them to become far more powerful and entirely less interesting due to being able to ignore, to greater or lesser extents, threats that incapacitate others. If Vortigaunts want to use powers to mitigate this, that's a different story - but they should have no base advantage beyond that. Neither in Roleplay or mechanical representation. Especially when this advantage is one randomly assigned with questionable logic from the megathread.

I mean look at this dude.

Does he look well insulated to you? Furless creature - belongs with the rest of us by the fire barrels.

BTW

Deny this and Vortigaunt leather should be added to the clothing list, for maximum cold resistance.
The choice is yours

The idea that the vort leads have in mind is that freed vortigaunts will have slight resistance because they have access to their powers. Millions of biotics must freeze.

how does a vort made out of meat and bones be resistant against the cold, not hair or fur neither

cows got leather on them but they still die to the cold

Well, you've woken me up and only thirty minutes before I have to go to a dentist appointment as well. Pain.

So, Vortigaunts are not Cold Resistant by any means. What it says above is just how their bodies deal with cold conditions similar to say humans and honestly its not very effective in any environment that's too cold. A Biotic will still very much freeze over and as such we are not giving them any protections whatsoever.

Most Freed Vortigaunts are a bit different because they can utilize Vortal Energy to heat themselves, but even that's imperfect and the way that's being dealt with on the development side of things is that they should really consider wearing something, but they don't have to if they maintain it well (I still expect IC behavior in regards to the numbness that they get for trying).

Of course Vortigaunts that are specialized in that particular school of energy manipulation can walk around naked without much of a problem but that's because in that instance they can manipulate energy in a matter that feels like they are wearing a heavy jacket.

I think vortigaunts should have a special relationship to the cold. Either they are especially vulnerable to it, or I think we should add a caveat where they enjoy the cold, but are not resistant to it.

Can't wait for CCA to demand vort-skin coats for the harsh winters
