. . .

"When I first saw it... The flash... It was blinding - as if someone had placed a whole star right into the center of the City... We weren't sure what happened, not at first... But it only took a few seconds. It was moving, moving towards us. Be it fear, or maybe instinct, all of us snapped out of the trance, dashing to the ground. We were too far for the blast for it to matter, that I know, but still... The image of that fiery orb... It shakes me to the core. All of the people left inside - vaporized..."

"To this day I wonder... Did anyone survive? What if someone was still in the outskirts? Underground? What if there were still normal people that couldn't make it to the evacuation? What if someone raised their head to a vision of pure destruction, and not only that, had to actively crawl over charred corpses and rubble? The hell that 45 was turned into... I thought, was horrid from the distance... But inside the city walls..."

"It still haunts my mind."

. . .

The Survivors

Those that were lucky enough to survive the blast. Whether or not that's a good thing is up to debate. Whatever side they belonged to before hardly matters, and so does their equipment - no matter how well armed, none of them are suited for the incoming fallout.

Their primary goal is to get out of the of the city, or what's left of it, before the radiation catches up. The invisible force is unlikely to be their only foe, however, as the blast has seemingly failed to eradicate the antlion hordes that besieged 45 prior. Worse - the bugs are likely trying to get out as well due to the large earthquake caused by the explosion. What can only be described as a horrible twist of irony will most likely cause both parties to clash sooner or later.

-

The Vortigaunts - ?
(Very limited spots)

The vortal kin, while more resistant to radiation than others, are still unlikely to extend their stay in the decrepit ruins of the city. As such, it's highly likely they will link up with The Survivors on their mass exodus, although whether or not they will pass up possible unique opportunities offered by this change of scenery remains to be seen.

-

The ESIC - ?
(Players cannot apply for this faction)

While certainly a stretch, it's possible that, if signaled, some ESIC members may attempt to rescue those that survived the blast. It's an utmost certainty, however, that these impromptu efforts will only be underwent if The Survivors make it far enough out of the city.

Then, there's the question of whether or not these courageous saviors will check the backgrounds of the people they came for. In such a case, certain survivors may want to ignore the grand allure of a quick rescue and instead attempt to find their own way out.

-

The Transhumans - ?
(Players cannot apply for this faction)

With the Nexus turned into a giant crater, one would be safe to assume that whatever presence the transhuman arm had in the city has been completely annihilated. This would, of course, be the ideal scenario, but one cannot deny that far enough away from the blast, some may still be found around the ruins.

If such a case is true, however, it's unlikely that they still have a functional link to OCIN. With the last received orders being to stand ground, whatever remains of OTA may ironically still attempt to secure the perimeter around the city. In a worse case scenario, they will probably try to finish the sterilization, one survivor at a time.

Through a lengthy debate process, I've elected to go against my regular procedure of handing the fate off of this suggestion off to the team. This is ACCEPTED, however you will work with the team to flesh-out this story more properly behind the scenes.
