NILE-RIVER AGRICULTURAL UNION

The Nile-River Agricultural Union (NRAU) was originally a conscripted labour force from City 40 that merely oversaw the operations of the Southern Nile River Agri-Zone, supplying Cairo with plenty of barley and other foodstuffs. Those duties have not changed but everything else has, especially with the recent events that occurred. One might think that the NRAU is nothing but an organization of skilled farmhands and agricultural-experts but such a line of thinking does not exactly line up with the reality. Not only are they agrarian-professionals of the land but also decently competent fighters and improvisers. Even with limited war supply and material (compared to the Combine Empire on Earth), the farmers of the NRAU (along with a few rouge members of the MDF) managed to hold off the Metropolitan Desert Force, Overwatch soldiers, and even synth-armored elements for long enough to force a negotiation from the Combine as the City of Cairo started to buckle under the pressure of threaten mass-starvation.
Without doubt, the Nile-River Agricultural Union has proved itself to be a major power broker within North Africa and the Middle East, especially within Egypt itself. Coupled with its control over the food and water supply of the Nile Agri-Zone, the ever-so mysterious "Moses" has himself a power base capable of wielding major military, economic, and political capacity. This becomes more important as the NRAU operates within a questionable grey area of allegiances; mingling with the Combine, rebels, vortigaunts, and other various desert dwellers/factions. If anything, the NRAU only has one allegiance and that is only to itself.
The fate of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, is held by the Nile-River Agricultural Union, for they are the sole provider of food and water; products of utmost importance for the basic survival of humanity.
