OPERATION LOCHABER


Coming March 17th through 18th


PREMISIS

Located in the North of Norway, above the artic line lies the combine research station boreal.




The times are changing, there is a chill in the air. Humanity's lot isn’t improving and the slow march towards extinction progresses unhindered even with the best effort from those who would rebel.

A malaise covers the OSF of city 24. For all their victories they yet understand they aren’t here to save humanity, just to keep it crawling along as the combine see fit. Add on top of that the restrictions to recruiting introduced just months prior and the reducing of their active combat operations it feels like nothing good will ever happen again for the members of this once storied unit.

But a call has come in and they are reminded of their duty, and for the less enthused their families cohesion. A research base in the north of europe needs a new security force as they pack up after the completion of their project, one of great importance to the combine. Orders are to haul over there and babysit the scientists till ordered otherwise, lest they get kidnapped by rebels.
(Yes this is also a sequel to White Noise)

The remnants of the project that has since been closed due to all goals being met. They are still important personnel to protect however, and letting them fall into rebel hands can only end in disaster

Long standing veteran Irishman first enlisting to the militia during the ISOCF times. Roy managed to survive this long due to the survivalist mentality he has developed since his mercenary years during and after the portal storms.
Having accomplished most of the goals he set out to complete during his service, Roy now begins to ponder about life after the OSF, if he would even be allowed that luxury.

One last mission before Cormack can finally retire from active duty and rejoin his family away from C24 (clueless?).

"My name is Dr. Kim Schwartz and I'm a microbiologist. I work for one of the many science corporations that are run by the Combine. My job takes me to a remote facility located in the snowed-in mountains of Norway. The facility is hidden away from the rest of the world and is surrounded by towering mountains and endless snow-covered forests. I've been here for several months now, and I can tell you that it's unlike anything I've ever seen.

The facility is a complex maze of laboratories and testing rooms. We're researching something that the Combine has kept secret from us, but I have a feeling that it's something big. I spend most of my days in the lab, studying micro organisms that we've extracted from the local environment. The samples we collect are unlike anything I've ever seen before. They're strange and unfamiliar, but there's a certain beauty in them.

The scientists I work with are just as strange as the samples we study. They're quiet and keep to themselves, rarely speaking unless spoken to. I've tried to strike up conversations with them, but they always seem to be preoccupied with their work. It's almost as if they're afraid to let their guard down and reveal too much about themselves.

Despite the isolation and the secretive nature of our work, I've managed to find a few things that make me feel connected to the outside world. The Combine intra-net is spotty at best, but I've managed to keep in touch with my family and friends who've reached high enough loyalist status to use the web. I've also found solace in the snow-covered mountains that surround us. I've always loved hiking and being in nature, so I take every opportunity I can to explore the area around the facility.

But as time goes on, I can't shake the feeling that something is off. The secrecy surrounding our work is suffocating, and I can't help but wonder what we're really doing here. The Combine is known for its unethical experimentation and manipulation of scientific research, and I can't help but wonder if that's what we're doing here.

Whatever they wanted from us, we've completed our task. Now it's time for me and the others to get out of here. I hear that the Conscripts, or as they are called now a days MAA are coming to pick us up and haul is back to the City. Whatever happens after that, I hope I can continue my work. Or maybe better yet, see my family again."


*Why do you want to play this character?: I've liked roleplaying as scientists in the past on previous servers so I think I would like it here as well.​
