Map (Workshop link & ID, like gm_flatgrass): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2862487762
Do you wish to spearhead the project if your concept is accepted? (You will run the event alongside the SS team): I would love to spearhead the event! The HL2 Beta has always intrigued me, and I've loved it since I first heard about it. I'd love to lead this event, as I've always wanted to see what the Beta would look like on Willard Networks.
PLEASE NOTE, this would likely have to be a mega event, as something this ambitious wouldn't work on a regular 3-day SS.
Is this concept set in the Half-Life universe?: Yes, in the "Beta" timeline, running parallel to the WN Timeline.
Will this concept follow Willard's Timeline?: No, this event would be set in an alternate timeline, running parallel to the WN Timeline.
Will this concept affect the main server?: Not at all. Since it's running on a separate timeline, nothing happening in that reality will affect us.
Where on the WN lore map - https://willard.network/forums/pages/map/ (if anywhere) would this affect, and to what severity?: City 17, alternate timeline. Does not affect the lore map.
Do you have any SS members vouching for the event?: No

"Hey! Johnson, Johnson! Wake up, man! There's something going on!
GASP You have awakened to the yelling of people somewhere in a room next to you. You find yourself in a dilapidated apartment.. The roof is caving in, the floors creak, your window is shattered, and you haven't had a door in years. Suddenly, like a truck hitting you at full force, you lose your breath. Hurriedly, you look around.. You put a new filter on your gas mask.. One of the only things keeping you alive in the bleak future. Without it, you surely would've suffocated years ago.
You take a peak outside of your window, looking down at the street. Someone down the road is screaming about "Free TVs!" and runs around a corner. A Com-Bot is soon to follow. A whir and the sound of something being ejected are heard, flames soon filling the alleyway. You chuckle to yourself, that guy should've known nothing is free anymore. Well.. Maybe death is.. A free ticket out of this hell hole.
You just decide to walk out of your apartment. You don't even bother to clean yourself or take a shower.. Like you had running water anyway..
As you take your first step out of your "humble abode". you're met face first with a Metrocop in your way. He barks with his grizzly vocoder, "<:: Where is your Identi-Band!? ::>"
How could you have been so foolish.. You forgot the one thing separating you from a stalker. You begin to apologize, stating it is in your apartment.. Before you're hit upside the head with a stunbaton. Luckily for you, it was turned off.
He shoves you into your apartment, barking at you to find it. It doesn't take long, you leave it in the same place every night. You put it on and show it to him. He mumbles something and shoves you away.
You think to yourself, "Wow! This is a pretty good morning. I wasn't even beat up yet."
You make your way onto the streets. Somewhere, someone is screaming at the top of their lungs, and gunfire is going off nearby. You walk down to your designated ration distribution terminal. Along the way, a Cremator brushes by you. You're careful not to touch it.. One wrong move and you're a pile of ash, swept up by the Vortigaunts in an hour.
Speaking of Vortigaunts.. You walk past a Vorti-Cell.. You take a look through the window, all you can see is the vague silhouette of an alien, and some orange liquid. You tap on the glass, and the Vortigaunt inside starts thrashing violently. Heh.. It was your favorite thing to do on your daily commute. You look up at the rooftops, Com-Bots are buzzing around, like they usually do. Yep.. Today seems like a run-of-the-mill day.. Maybe, if you're lucky, you'll only be beaten twice.
You finally arrive at your designated ration distribution terminal. Somewhere inside the building, you hear the infamous voice of the Consul, "The True Citizen conserves valuable oxygen!" "Yeah.." You think to yourself, "Because there's a lot of that to go around.." You fall in line and go about waiting. You try to start a conversation with the guy behind you, but he doesn't look like he's in the mood to talk.. Or maybe he can't talk.. You don't know..
Somewhere off to the side, some guy comes bolting out of the building, five rations in hand. He's cackling like a madman, and Civil Protection are following right behind, "<:: STAY WHERE YOU ARE! GET ON THE GROUND, DO IT NOW! ::>"
He's dead, you think to yourself. And, just as you think that, you suddenly become correct. Somewhere up ahead, a Cremator was waltzing around, unluckily for the ration thief. In less than a second, the man that was just running by you was turned into nothing more than a pile of dust. "Serves him right," you say aloud. This comment makes some people look at you, probably shouldn't have said that.
You get your ration after what feels like an hour, and luckily, you have just enough time to slurp your slop and water before heading to work. Today's job? Caligraphy! In the infamous, Caligraphy Cavern. You walk inside and look around.. All the spots seem full. Where were you to work at? You walk up to the Foreman and alert him. He turns around, looking at the rows of workers, and points to one, you look over. The sound of a button is heard, and something in the cavern starts to hum. Suddenly, for the guy who was unluckily picked, his life was done. His workstation began to flip, and he fell, screaming the whole way down.
"Seems as though a spot has just opened up," the Foreman chirps, as though he hadn't just murdered someone. You sigh and walk over, walking carefully, and taking your spot. You work for just about 10 hours straight. No food, no water..
Once the day is over, you go back to get your nightly ration. On your way, you get beat up for walking the wrong way.. Or something... You don't remember what the Metrocop said. You collect your ration and sulk back to your room. You eat it peacefully and replace your filter again. You try to get a little sleep, like that was really an idea.
CRASH You jolt awake in the middle of the night. You go to look out of your window, staring in amazement. The streets are ablaze, and there are a few dead cops. People clad in resistance clothing and lambda logos are everywhere. This is the day you've been waiting for! You break through some fake wallpaper, retrieving a gun. You run onto the streets and join the ongoing fight.
Click, Click, Click... Your gun jams in the middle of a fight. POP You get shot through the head.
GASP You find yourself awake in your bed once more.. It had only been a dream.. You groan to yourself and replace your gas mask filter. You stand up and stretch.
Time to start the monotony all over again.
