Who my grampa would've voted for in Presidential Elections
Discussion
To preface, he was a Vietnam War vet who turned into a hippie. He lived in a cabin in the woods of Minnesota and was a part-time weed dealer. He was a conspiracy theorist and an all-around quirky, crazy, interesting dude. So basically a wholesome wwc populist
1964: Goldwater. He was a huge Goldwater fan mostly cuz he was anti-establishment and cuz he despised LBJ.
1968: Humphrey?? I really hope he voted Humphrey cuz he was a Minnesotan. But my grampa would’ve loved Eugene McCarthy and thought he got screwed. I just hope he didn’t vote Wallace out of spite.
1972: McGovern. Obviously, since George was anti-establishment and progressive.
1976: Eugene McCarthy. Like I said he was a HUGE gene fan.
1980: Anderson. He hated both parties and would’ve liked anyone outside the usual.
1984: Mondale. Because of Minnesota.
1988: Ron Paul. My grampa really loved Paul even before the Tea Party Era.
1992: Perot. Pretty obvious he loved populists and independents.
1996: Perot.
2000: Nader. He actually had some involvement with Winona LaDuke’s circle in Minnesota advocating for environmentalism. And he was a fan of Nader back in the Nader’s Raiders era in the 70s.
2004: Nader. My grampa HATED George Bush Jr.
2008: Ron Paul (write-in). He volunteered for Paul’s campaign in the primary.
2012: Gary Johnson. He turned a lot more libertarian and a lot less progressive under Obama.
2016: Trump. My grampa was a BIG Bernie supporter in the primary but after Bernie lost he definitely supported Trump since he was populist and anti-establishment.
