Give the Conscripts M16s or AKs or Some Shit, not Wimpy MP5s

This is a very simple suggestion that I won't put too much effort to, since I think it's pretty much a given.

IRL, the MP5 Sub-machine gun was not mass produced as much as the M16, AK, etc. Or their eastern variants. It's a police weapon that fires nine-milimetre rounds with an effective firing range of two-hundred meters.

The Conscripts are soldiers; riflemen. They're auxillaries that perform the menial roles of Transhumans when Transhumans aren't available, basically.

They're supposed to be fighting in the Outlands at long ranges.

See where this goes wrong?

The Connies look outright stupid with wimpy MP5s, give these boys some assault rifles, man! They deserve it and it'd really make them a fighting force that isn't just a way for rebels to easily get equipment. It'd also give people an actual incentive to play conscripts, who wants to be the HL2RP version of the Mobile Infantry from Starship Troopers? Hell yeah!

I don't think you realize how some rebels GOT their current rifles.. Giving Conscripts better equipment (proven by I24 conscripts being farmed like trash mobs in low level dungeons) doesn't stop rebels from getting equipment easier.. It infact creates the problem of rebels getting together to drop the conscript patrols just to get rifles easier than they should.

Remember when Conscripts were given G3's back in i24?

Those same G3's were then placed into the rebel economy by killing said conscripts.

Giving Conscripts higher tier weapons would make Conscripts more dangerous but it also just increases the chances of rebels gaining said weapons by simply overwhelming and ambushing patrolling conscripts in the Outlands. Give those rebels a freed vort or two and you are set to get some AR-level weaponry by shotconning (The conscript variant of shotcopping)

as much as i hate conscripts and think they should all die, let's be real you can say the exact same lootbox thing about ota by how frequently they get owned but nobody's suggesting ota only uses SMGs. so who cares just give them rifles

hello everyone

I am the lead for the Conscripts, after Hoki left in i24. I have made a new guide which is still being worked on and tuned.

Here is what I had planned for the Conscripts
-- Similar to how Civil Protection operates, I want to give out alternate weapon perks for weapons to the Conscripts so they don't always have the baseline + attachments aswell.
-- I also want to adjust patrols and equipment based on sociostability of the City, so if the stability of the City is getting worse, the Conscripts get more powerful, this being in terms of weapon variety and upgrades. (Ie. Sociostability red or black would allow for any Conscript to use G3s).

For the conscript lootbox argument, all engagements of the conscripts have been wiped out by high-tier'd rebel groups (Sentinels) as @Gutsy can chip in if he wishes. The most recent one also saw eight vortigaunts attacking the sweep apparently. I highly doubt an OTA squad could've survived that. In my mind, going against high tier'd rebels and large numbers will make any combine faction a lootbox faction in my opinion, but we've been always caught with our pants down which has made the whole "conscript lootbox" much more defined in people's eyes.

(that sweep was also abit of a guh moment to wake up to, especially hearing about it being in the sewers, but ultimately an IC issue)

I am always open to suggestions to improving the faction either ways to lessen a "conscripts are lootbox" mentality (even if I feel that the engagements were we get wiped are strong in the Rebel's favour) or other suggestions.

I would agree to this at the moment if it wasnt for the Conscripts doing some funky things right now. Not sure i'd trust them to stick to it. As for us wiping out the Conscripts it wasnt really the gear that let us do that but our co-ordination and our tactics. OTA Squads often don't survive that.

There are alot of "IC Issues" that I hear about everyday to the point where I go... Doesnt the policing of this faction border on the OOC?

Also whoever said eight vortigaunts attacked the sweep is talking out of their ass. I don't even think we have 8 free vorts right now that are active. My people engaged the 2 waves of OTA lead by elites, I do not believe they engaged the conscripts. Funny thing is that, if we were to field a full roster of sentinels there wouldn't be enough Conscripts online to fight against XD Many of them hold Conscript Whitelists as well.

Im doing my best, as we both have a small area to work with. City is very hostile to anyone, and well. Costs us about 4500 chips a day in filters to keep our members from being gassed.

You guys have support, a Crab Synth and the like and I think you already have specialities right? By the way the only attachments we are allowed are red dot sights (And only 4 for the entire rebel faction right now) and after a certain rank you get G3's literally the best weapons that, even rebels cannot get. There are no supply lines into the Black Market at this time and not for the foreseeable future. So attrition will melt them a bit.

You have a wall, you have protection. They ghost swept a place they were not supposed to be in and paid the price.

Sentinels do have some high end equipment, but we tend to keep that stowed away unless needed (Example pulse weapons) as that kind of stuff calls OTA on our ass and we want to avoid that. We only swap out to high end equipment when we are like "Yeah, hell is fucking coming for us."

The issue with working off the sociostability of the city is that, in the past, as we know the Sociostability has been left worse for... Basically no reason, and no one wanted to ask questions because ultimately it didn't matter much. Whenever I asked I was just told "It's fine, its fine" basically the line that I am given whenever someone doesn't want to talk about something.

Long story short, i'd feel more comfortable about it if the CCR was actually doing what they were damn well told instead of me and Fedora having to have a discussion every couple of days.

And completely negates the purpose of the limited black market.

Conscripts do in fact not need a buff, if 2 Waves of OTA got corpsed by rebels then Conscripts with ARs are in fact walking loot bags

EDIT: Stop shitting on the MP5 that shit is actually very good

Jokes aside:

Rather than continuously powercreeping every single faction to match them, just nerf Vortigaunts back to a reasonable level. I feel like its not much of a hot take to point out rebels having their own equivalent of Elite OTA wandering about without any restriction isn't exactly doing the server balance many favors. Almost every person I have ever questioned regarding this seems to agree, so it seems an obvious solution to me.

(The reason I mention this is because I am under the impression Vorts basically rule the entire S2K front, and everything is balanced around them as a result. Could be wrong, just what I have come to understand.)

Though its bold of you assume that we're just walking around without restrictions, we self impose some pretty severe restrictions to make sure peoples rp is not fucked.
