You see the dawn through your traincar window. Through the suffocating smog that rules the skies of the industrial sector, you hardly ever get to see the sun rise. It's an inspiring sight, and your only indication of what time it is - that is, much too early in the morning for the blaring announcement that roused you from your sleep.

"ATTENTION PLEASE: This is Senior Engineering Foreman Ashley Valera. Labour assets with CIDs [X] to [Y], report to Collaborator Cart 6 immediately for a priority workshift. Glory to our benefactors."

Carriage number six? A work cycle? Your CID was mentioned, it seems. Best get going

You look outside the window as the rays of light infiltrate your cabin.

The Sunset is truly beautiful today. The CWU can wait for a few minutes.


*CWU Management Cabin - 4 hours prior*
'<:: Subject 25420. Senior Foreman Valera. A workshift is in order. Gather your workers, and as many civilians as you need. ::>'

The senior foreman looks up at the Civil Protection functionary in front of her. She decides not to be sarcastic.

'... We're in the middle of a Train, sir. How do you expect a workshift to happen?'

'<:: Carriage six will break off and head to Automated Satellite Production Facility Twenty Six. ::>'

'<:: Unscheduled Maintainance. Facility not producing as it should.::>'

The senior foreman raises an eyebrow.

'Twenty Six... Nishimachi, it was?'

'<:: Yeah. ::>'

'What's the issue? Any details? What should we bring?'

The CivPro simply shrugs. That being an answer in itself.

"What security detail are we getting? CivPro escort? CCR? Transhumans?"

"<:: You kidding? Whoever fucked up bad enough to be assigned to that hole is better off just asking Command to be put outta their misery. ::>"

'<:: Get the people ready in carriage six in the next four hours. Next train won't be picking you up until you fix the issue. Ef Why Eye. ::>'

The officer leaves after that threat, leaving a half-awake Senior Foreman staring at the door of her carriage.

Four hours is plenty of time for some coffee, she thinks to herself.

A few minutes later, the speakers on the train blare out.

'ATTENTION PLEASE: This is Senior Engineering Foreman Ashley Valera. Labour assets [X] to [Y]..'

This is a Civilian & CWU expo. You will be deployed to an automated production facility that is no longer working as expected, and expected to fix it.
CWU workers encouraged to apply, as well as citizens.
Note that you may ONLY apply if you 'extracted' from City Eight via Combine means - I.E.: Not the rebel boat(s).

Character Job/Role(s): Civil Worker's Union Member in the rank of "Worker" - Generally manual labour, setting up, or preparing things.
Brief character summary: William Karnsoft is around 40s man, of Scandinavian descent (presumably), whose work, before Combine's arrival, included of multiple manual labour jobs, and works, with lots of variety, for relatively decent pay, which did give him the skills he has now . Now, after the Combine takeover he worked as a semi-legal prospector, who sold mutliple found items to store owners (such as Nuts n Bolts) for a decent price. However, upon quitting this profession, and losing any need for it, he attempted to join the CWU, which he did. Ever since then, he's done shifts, assistance work, putting up things, repairing stuff and so on. While not the sharpest tool in the shed, he is loyal and effective, when all is right.
