At the start of the Seven Hour War Sibera's expanse served to swallow several million of people; wartorn refugees, deserting soldiers and the plucky survivalist disappearing into its breadth of evergreen expanse. Besotten dreamers and hopefuls to find and found the reclusive potemkin in the untamed wilderness. Surviving there on dreams alone, if not provided by hard work, as life around them stilled and retracted as the Combine made its global enrapturement known.
First the trains had slowed. Then they had made fewer appearances, that some had mistaken them for ghosts rattling along the railways believed abandoned. For no sooner that they believed it had come to pass. Then the passenger cars stilled. Their drivers talking about changes in the city as they drove into Russia's wilds or about sanctuary as they drove out of it.
Silence reigned for a week. Three at most. Then ordinals of a supposed world order came and ferried away the villages. Kruschevkas were left like lone, despondent giants surrounded by the corpses of smaller concrete and wooden domiciles. They swept, a handful of these revolutionaries backed by guns, scouring the country and cityside for gathered people like a farmer's scythe as best they could. Some returned with hundreds. Some with several dozens. And some with several. Wearied and battered; resolute and determined, their people's faces had showed with historied independence. Some of those same officers had never returned at all.
And then the world slept. For a time.
Several years later and those very overlooked potemkins and outposts had become an irritability for entrenched officials of the Combine regime. Troop transports and aerial synthetics sent to crackling radio, only to find the targeted village abandoned. Stationed troops in the hinterlands fending attacks amidst the repairs of sabotaged railtrack and the convoy. Not enough; never enough to instill an actual threat to resource extraction of the cordoned and heavily-patrolled iron mines of Yakutia or its logging. But enough so. Rudimentary technology such as century-old high calibre weapon and unencrypted signal were proliferating across the wintry wastes.
The hope of halycon days and continual resistance unchecked were more akin to an ant's bite. Annoying, but enough so that each foundational city of the Combine had come to convocation with one another. And upon the dias of an upraised citadel each had discussed and come to bitter realization of a border more porous than their entrenched Asian or European counterpart. A place for people to go to. A place to disappear.
A place to remain lost.

The Expedition is to start around 6:00 PM BST
Stylized: Continuous, Open Expedition

Hello! Apologies for such short notice, I hope everything isn't a bother. This is an expedition spearheaded by both myself and Cocohop. We're attempting to facilitate and co-create a standardized expedition map which may change and influence both the main server and vice versa. Players may join in freely for the official start of this map and portray their characters within a very harsh environment if they wish. Attempts can and will be made to create a feeling of verisimilitude of a region absent of mankind and Combine control now emerging as a returning force upon a place largely bereft of it. The Expedition will largely be PvE-focused, Passive, with gameplay themes of intrigue and cooperation. Every action your character will take will have nominal consequences both immediate and long-term not only for themselves and their group; extending to the state of the map.
An interesting facet I would like to create is objectives for every faction. More experimentally, these objectives will be held and given out only to subsequentially explained expedition leads on the expedition server. It is up to them to give reasonable explanation and disseminate the information to their group and others In-Character, alongside In-Character messageboards within official servers. I will be aiming for two co-leads of equal authority in the expedition.
Hopefully this will introduce players to a static expedition server that can easily be booted up for quick expeditions, allocating more, long-term effects for the playerbase and the narrative as they wish; ensuring that more players and groups have access to; that can affect the server at large.
- (Co)-Leads will need to have approval of Faction Leads and require the character already exist within the organization to any extent.
- Rewards (and consequences) outside of the Expedition Server will be handled in a closed tribunal of CT Coordinators and Faction Leads and their affect upon the server.
- Due to the nature of this event, Shackled Vortigaunts will be permissible and allowed to join. However any possible freeings will need to be met with approval by both the Civil Protection Leads and Vortigaunt Leads. Freeings will likely result in a heavier response than usual.
- The database will be transferred over and duplicated, then kept on a separate system to allocate for control for all and equipment inbetween.
- Similarly Equipment obtained will need to pass through special mechanics to facilitate possible return to the main server.
- Citizens will be allowed and encouraged to join, alongside characters without affiliation.
- Factions such as OTA, MCP, CCA are withheld from joining under belief and intention the event will not be good for their characters participating.
If you wish to apply as an Expedition (Co)-Lead for either CWU, CMRU, Civil Protection, Resistance and Vortigaunts, please follow in the application format below. Any and all can try their luck, but again each will need to be approved by their own Faction Leads to get accepted, which will be held between me and them privately. Those who are accepted will be spoken to before the event takes place.
Edit: I forgot to add, there will be four spots available for the Resistance. One per resistance group.
DM Your Resistance group via Discord / Brickwall. For fear of metagame do not post it publicly.
