Personality & Demeanor:
HERO-01, known personally as Izumi "Zoom" Ro, is a paradox within the Combine Civil Protection ranks. While the regime demands cruelty and subjugation, Izumi upholds a personal code of ethics that leans toward justice and compassion. He exercises restraint, offers warnings before resorting to force, and quietly defies the brutality expected of him whenever he can do so without drawing the attention of higher authorities. His fellow officers sometimes view him as "soft," but those under his protection know him as a rare beacon of humanity within a dehumanizing system.
Though Izumi's methodologies have controversial contrast against the common brutality of Civil Protection Command, the designating officers who have placed him in a high ranking position will find that his primary objectives and quotas are always met, in most regards, with above and beyond performance.
Despite the overwhelming pressure to conform to the Combine's oppressive policies, Izumi retains an unshakable resolve to "do good where he can." He walks a razor-thin line, careful not to draw suspicion from superiors or more zealous officers. His inner turmoil is constant, but his moral compass remains fixed.
Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced Hand-to-Hand Combat: Trained extensively in close-quarters combat, Izumi prioritizes non-lethal takedowns whenever possible. To those who know him truly, know that he trains in old forms of Martial Arts from his homeland in Japan.
- Judicious and filled with wisdom: Izumi has seen it all. There's almost no scenario that he cannot draw an answer for. If you are struggling to overcome an obstacle, this unit will almost always provide a solution. Just like you, he worked his way diligently up the latter. He has seen combat, he has seen loss, and he has seen glorious, glorious success. Be humble and learn from your elders or he will not want to teach you.
- Situational Awareness: Known for his sharp perception, this unit prides himself on his ability to prevent failures from occurring, before they're able to happen. If you become warned of his "Gut feeling," be certain you do not ignore it.
- People Skills: While many Civil Protection officers are feared, Izumi has cultivated a reputation for listening and understanding the struggles of his fellow units. This has occasionally led to units offering him small tokens of appreciation—an act that could be punishable if discovered.
- Stealth & Discretion: Having to navigate the moral grey zones of Combine enforcement, Izumi is adept at subtlety, knowing when and how to act without drawing attention.
Psychological Profile:
While many Civil Protection officers succumb to apathy or sadism, Izumi Ro’s psyche remains atypically strong. He maintains a clear distinction between duty and morality, though this duality weighs heavily on him. His dreams are often haunted by faces he’s seen harmed or failed to protect. Despite this, he sees himself as a "shepherd among wolves" and endures. Over time, he’s become more calculated in his approach, knowing that every good deed must be done in silence.
His kindness shalt not be mistaken for weakness, for when the Rank Leader draws his line, only the most foolish would dare to cross it. Doing so would be to become the villain. This Hero will certainly make short work of you.

- Maintain Order: First and foremost, Izumi is strict to completing the job he has been set forth to do, control the socio-stability of his given sector. He is always clear to communicate his high expectations for anyone operating under him, pushing them to work and operate at the absolute highest regard.
- Protect the Vulnerable: Do what good he can for the units of the garrison without endangering himself or others. You'll often find he is seeking to teach you lessons in every day life that will help you to navigate the ladder of civil protection, without driving you to madness.
- Survive: The role of a Civil Protection Officer is hazardous in itself, and Izumi’s secret acts of compassion make him a target. Survival requires a delicate balance of conformity and being judicious.
- Create Strong Leaders: All life is a cycle, and one day, his cycle will come to a close. Izumi aim's to prepare the next generation of Civil Protection Command Units, by offering sage wisdom and fortifying judgement, to help units traverse the complicated webs of Civil Protection politics.
- Protect his family: The most important element to completing his work lies in his undying loyalty to his remaining family members. He does not dare make a mistake in hopes to keep their benefits and happiness in tact.
