This is a thread made with the purpose of getting full transparency regarding people's opinion on the arc in a structured and constructive manner. Server Council will be looking over this thread tomorrow (Sunday) during a planned meeting which we are all so very excited for.

As such, please try to be honest with your opinions, and elaborate where you can. If you feel that there's no player agency, elaborate on why you think that. If you don't want to take part in the arc anymore, elaborate on why that's the case. This is to avoid any misinterpretations on your wording.

Ofcourse, please try to avoid metabait/metagame where possible. And try to be constructive - offer suggestions to fix the concerns you have.

I will be moderating this thread to make sure it stays on track and doesn't turn into a back and forth or devolve into needless hostility.

Also yes I am aware there was a feedback thread sent out but the structuring of those threads are typically ass and they don't allow for any constructive, meaningful conversation between involved parties.

All 4 of these people do not want to be given their position, or fight for it, as they do not feel like they can bring any change into a scripted arc. Everything that they will do will only make them a bigger target, PK-able by default or simply make them lose their life.
This isn't an Arc about how Orwell can win.
It's a story about how Orwell will win.

The script you people dislike so much is malleable. You've broken it already with Rajko. You're only proving my point further regarding player agency and how only so many people actually have the capability to make roleplay for others.

TLDR:

"You should really take 'agency' and shoot Orwell in the face."

Idk I think y’all really fucked up any chance of Orwell returning without it being forcefully scripted, no citizen or loyalist would want him back. If a coup happens that would just feel boring and predictable. If the arc was done well from the start, Orwell should have started well but slowly getting more paranoid and corrupted. But as of now, you should avoid Orwell or any Orwell 2s being forcefully returned and let the political scene play out.

WHOA! It's almost as if my critiques regarding the incongruity of placing almost all the former administration members who were in charge of C24 when it died actually doesn't make any sense! Not only is it absurd from a lore perspective (the Combine would have killed these people, or at least ended their careers), but it is also terrible from a storytelling POV. These characters HAD their time to shine. Let new blood take over ffs.

Take my former City Administrator for example. Sure, I'd love to bring Newcastle back and do some stuff with him, but I'm not going to make him a permanent feature of the server who can willfully alter the narrative. His time was back in 2021, and the best I can see him doing now is making some epic cameos...

Get your heads out of your asses and start producing original stories with original characters.

It could be seen as the boss rush before the endgame. This was always heading towards HL2. C24 is a uniquely organized group by quirk of so many bulk population exchanges. If we view this as more than merely a side effect of people wanting to play consistent characters, but instead an in-game result of the Combine simply letting this level of connectedness among a population slip through the cracks, then this particular city becomes uniquely capable of cohering into an influential region on global politics.

If there are truly calls to wipe the slate clean mounting then why not make it glorious? Let Freeman step off a train some day some 1700 km away.

Otherwise the maximal possible strength of the SeCon is being directly tested by the passage of the last piece of legislation.

It seems to me like the ball is in management's court, but a lot of people are concerned about the ball being swapped out for an ICBM.

I am enjoying this arc.
