The Modoran nobility is fractured. The once faithful and dependable house of Arkanis has otherwise betrayed the House of Swords, and the Witch King's evil has spread across the land. That was until-- the most unlikely event occured.

At the battle of the mountaintop, a great miracle occurred. Perhaps a blessing from Shap-- not much is known. But the Modoran royalists scored a victory against the traitorous supporters of MEZERET. But all is not well. Diplomatic relations between Grappa and the Khan's empire have collapsed amid a preventable tidal wave of cultural tension.
Grappa, wanting to take revenge on Modora for the past crusades which previously brought the nation to it's knees, have deployed a massive army to hunt down the fleeing Modoran royalists as they flee the mountaintop.

The great KARL OF ULICE, and MANWRECHT VON GRAP have been given charge of this army. Thousands strong, frantic messengers have spread across the Modoran lands as the army carves it's way past the shaky border defenses nearing Grappa.

All the while, CHERTAN THE MARSHAL approaches from the east with his own mercenary contingent of the Khan's best men. It seems that Modora's doom has already been spelled, the estates of the boy king and his lords completely decimated.

Time is running out for the royalists. The three-headed hydra cannot be allowed to decimate Modora.

DID YOU PREVIOUSLY PLAY FOS?: Yes, I was an occultist for the Witch King.

The Ragged Survivor.
The Follower of the Holy Name.
The Bringer of War.

Earl Gefori, First of His name.
Commander of the Royalists.

''Earl, a man who some say was sent by god to decree war upon those who dare opposed his kingdom and his god. He'd exclaim as thus in response. 'I was not chosen or sent by god, I chose to fight in his name. Whatever happens next, is my doing. He may be merciful and forgiving, but I follow no such beliefs.' Earl Gefori, at the mighty fucking dinner with his holiness.''

Earl Gefori is a pious man, one of pure ambition and a never-ending need for more and more. Sir Gefori joined the Royal Army out of patriotism of his Kingdom, attending in many battles and skirmishes with either tribals or lowly peasant rebellions, and on occasion, full blown armies. It did not take long for his superiors and even the Duke in his home region to take note of his performance as a foot-soldier, landing him the title Constable, getting a moderately sized piece of land. He ruled his title with an iron fist.

As the title of Constable, he was essentially a 'commanding officer' of a lowly army of 600. He battled occultists, pagans, and lowly peasant bandits. He would later become famous for his culling of the Pagan People, a mass genocide of those who went against his faith. He accomplished this by hiring, radicalizing, and increasing his army, either through militias, peasantry, or the main garrison of his town. 10.000 pagans were slaughtered, and an estimated 40.000 were displaced, imprisoned, or forcefully converted. He would dine with the King and the Duke, joking and insulting the paganized groups. Some religions now completely extinct, and some even lost to time with no scripture of their entire existance

He attended more battles, and dinners with either the Duke or the King. He brought peace and war on the land, pillaged, destroyed, saved, married, and abused all who stood in his way. His soldiers looked at him in admiration, his enemies looked at him with hatred and fear, some even suspecting the Witch King of marking him for death for the occultists to find, sacrifice, and consume.

In light of recent events, this curse may have played a role. The betrayal of the Arkanis House on the House of Swords, an event in which Gefori proclaimed to be orchestrated by spies under the Witch Kings deceitful thumb.

He'd go onto proclaim before the shocking victory at Mountaintop

''Blessed be his holy name, hail the light that feeds our crops and our children. Give these heretics absolutely no respite, no quarter, no rest, no peace. They only know violence. The Witch King will no longer rape this land of its resources, its faith, its women, its men, and its homes. I, Sir Gefori proclaim as such, no fucking surrender. Death to the filthy heretics. We cannot lose.. It cannot happen.''

And thus, it did not happen. Now he and his few men stand tall as a reminder of both Trinity and Strength. These men will dine with either the King, or the Gods. No matter what happens.

''LONG LIVE GEFORI, FIRST OF HIS NAME.''

Jezhek
(other)

1742485270695.png
A highly capable crossbowman who has returned to Modora. Jezhek was a traveling merchant before being robbed and almost killed by a foreign raiding party. Having been stripped of all of his possessions and coin, he wandered until he reached the fortress of House Crowburn.

There he met the Crowburn blacksmith who helped him get back on his feet in return for collecting ores and other goods. He armed himself with a powerful crossbow and a pike for keeping foes at range.

When the Blood Moon arrived, Jezhek helped defend Crowburn fortress from the Cultist forces. Despite his injuries, he managed to kill a heavily armored Cultist by himself. Once the Blood Moon had retreated, he decided it was time to begin packing up and return to his home.

Upon hearing about the battle on the mountain, Jezhek decided to return. Successfully evading foreign invaders and cultists, he arrived at Crowburn fortress only to find it abandoned and ransacked. He continued his search for the remaining Modoran army in an attempt to reinforce them.

On his way towards the mountain, he spotted a Grappan scouting party bearing the colors of Ulice below. He took up position on a cliff and shot a bolt into the throat of the unfortunate man-at-arms. Jezhek reloaded the crossbow and shot the second scout in the back before he was able to retreat into the forest.

Jezhek rushed down the cliff to search the bodies of the two scouts. He removed the polelyns and couters of the first man he shot for his own use. The second man had a folded map of the land that featured two marked points of interest: a supply depot for the Grappan black powder and the camp for Karl of Ulice's army. Jezhek put on his new armor and took the map before resuming his search.

SobiemirMaProper.png

CHARACTER NAME: Sobiemir "Dryg" - The Returned (APPLYING FOR OTHER )
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
A bastard son of a random noble, Sobiemir was raised by his Mother and her family in relative peace, living in the land of Tulizzia (one of the Grappan Twin-States), despite the religious and financial issues. While, not overly struggling, eventually he was forced to enlist into the Tulizzian army, in order to properly provide for his family for the time-being. Upon arriving at the capital Kent, and properly joining the army at the age of 24, Sobiemir's life became filled with bloodshed and war against the state of Foundation. During the official release of his regiment into the War effort for the first time, he and the rest were visited by the great and skilled Manwrecht von Grap, which often arrived at Tulizzia for one reason, or another. Thanks to it, he learned his personality, observed his speech and fighting style... Which, back then impressed him, but looking back at it, he saw some flaws, but I am getting off-track here.

At age of 28, and the devastating loss of the Army Regiment he was in, having nearly all of the soldiers die during the
Battle of (Unknown), he decided to desert and make his leave, giving his family back in Tulizzia a compensation, however, he know he would be unable to ever return, as desertion was seen as the highest treason. And from there, he was in many places around...

Years later (aged 35), and after earning himself the title
"Dryg" (which means "Able to do something"), Sobiemir became a part of the Mercenary group named the "Black Eyes", serving numerous houses and people in the land of Modora, hearing stories of mythical beings, the murderous Right-Hand man of the Khan known as Chertan, who he's heard of from rumours only, and generally trying to make do... Until all changed. The cultist attacks, machines and heretical creations from the ancient ruins, Grappan Dyplomacy issues, and also the foundation of "Pact of the Sun" by him and some of the other people, quickly turned the tide and situation around. Which became even more problematic, after the Blood Moon, caused the Heretic forces to increase in power much more! Afterwards, numerous allies of the Believers turned into monsters... Such as the Burdened, or joined the Witch King's cause, like Lionheart or the entire house Arkanis!

The
Inquisitors and the Church, assisting the remaining royalists and believers, needed a way to deal with the forces of Evil... One of which was, to cut some of the forces from the rest and deal with them, within one of the empty Cultist bases in one of the caves around the land. Sobiemir, was part of that group, assisted by four Inquisitors, they faced off against the Burdened, and the corrupted members of House Arkanis... The skirmish that they fought in, was a fierce one.
All of the Inquisitors either perished or ran off, but Sobiemir, knowing he has to stand his ground, did. Fighting off
Lionheart, Burdened and Arkanis traitors, hurting them, slashing at them, and countering their strikes, he had no chance of winning, but he had full faith! That is, until Burdened's blade went through his helmet and right throug his mouth, hitting the rock behind him... Causing his demise... Or so everybody thought.

Following the battle at the
Mountain Top, The GREAT Shap, seeing Sobiemir's bravery, courage and fighting spirit, decided to give Sobiemir another chance to assist his old and new allies, at dealing with the oncoming threat of both the Grappan army and the Khan's Horde. However, he is still but a man, despite his feats... So will it be enough?

Only
Shap knows...

OTHER DETAILS: Sobiemir was my only character during FoS, who I played as, through the whole event until the 2nd final day, where hedied, due to me having irl situation preventing me from being on the Finale proper. That being said, for me it was MY finale sort of.

The idea for his return, is inspired by the Norse Myth's Einherjar, the soldiers who after falling in battle, would be seen as worthy by Odin (in this case Shap), and then join his army for Ragnarok, he could be a soldier chosen by Shap to help the people during Modora's hardship now. Another inspiration was the Godly form of Arcantos from Age of Mythology. It's an idea I had way back when FoS was still on-going, and topic of the Epilogue was going on.

For how he could be done in the event, he would obviously be on the side of the believers and royalists, either from get-go or later on (depends on the Event Master and GM-s). I do not want him to have any "+" to skill during S2RP or such, despite his technical "Holy" return (akin to Burdened having their + during S2RP), but again it's up to the GM.

When it comes to gear he had it was: Steel Single Handed Sword, Metal Buckler, Black Lamellar Armour and a Full Spangenhelm (A Black Steel one, with mail covering the face. ALTHOUGH Elite Spangenhelm could be used too, as it was one I wore a lot).

CHARACTER NAME: Theochith Vulred - The MEZERET's Champion
1742515836335.png

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
The MEZERET, in all his glory, however defeated, knighted a champion of darkness. A man clad in armor forged in depths of magic unseen to the eye, wielding a Blacksteel sword strong enough to strike down even the strongest Draugr champion before him.
The Knight of Darkness, the MEZERET's Champion.
Though the occult has been scattered, and the Cult of the MEZERET lay defeated, his Knight is unwavering, harboring the keys of Eltael, the Champion seeks the return of his master, pledging his loyalty, and fighting until his bloody end.

OTHER DETAILS:
ICly, I would've been at the battle atop the mountain, but unfortunately had work that day, and never got to see Theochith's story end. I hope this to be a way I can finally bring some closure to the character, through victory or loss, however it comes. The MEZERET shall rule again. The Occult lives on!

Erik Tanner. (Royalist footman)

Erik was born a lowly peasant, whom joined the Royalist forces, rallied by the grand tales of expelling the cultists at the battle upon the mountain top. He was by no means a remarkable man, bordering on average, just another man, born from nothing, a farmer, called upon to fight against Moldora's growing threats.

He didn't want to be there, he wasn't a warrior, but after time, he got used to it, seemingly lucky amongst the countless other nameless foot soldiers, their deaths meaning very little, people never remembered their names, he knew this, he was just a peasant, but he didn't care, he was patriotic, reasonably faithful, he wasn't weak, nor was he strong, he wasn't skilled. He wasn't a knight, nor some royalty-born prince.

One day, as he engaged in a skirmish with Grappans, he just about bested a Grappan soldier, having luckily had the rifleman's musket miss him, by mere inches, he closed the distance with him, engaging the Grappan's steel with his own, it was a fair fight, and not a particularly impressive one, two - scared men, neither known, both fighting for their country, luck shined on Erik, as his mace struck true, delivering a killing blow to the Grappan.

Erik took the fallen soldier's rifle, taking a curiosity with it, he spent weeks in the varied war camps he was assigned to, studying the device, learning its mechanisms, until eventually, he learned to wield it, he found the weapon quite easy to use once he'd learned, just point and shoot, no skill required, and he wasn't a man of honour, he didn't care for the fact it's too easy, he just considered it a way to survive against the armies of men far better trained in the art of swordsmanship than him, even a great mighty knight could be slain with a well-placed shot, something that for a man like him, would otherwise have no chance with.

And so with that, the underwhelming, average man, became something ever so slightly more, a well trained rifleman for the Royalist forces. Ready to turn Grappa's own weapons against them.

Father -- I have failed.

Adobe Express - file.png
My name is Leopold, Leopold H. Blackwood.
I write this letter to you, whoever you may be, in response to a forgoton world and kingdom.
My father was Peor Blackwood, he was killed during a assassination.
Due to high council ruling, I was appointed king under a low age, lowly trained and prepared.
In the first day's of ruling, my kingdom thrived, we had small issues and little economic issues, a flourishing city even with my fathers absence.

Alaric, my Father's champion, guided me through, never betraying me nor the name of Modora, a loyal man my Father could always rely on, a man I could always rely on.
We found small remnants of dark magic, what was assumed to be long gone and forgotten, was still being practiced by men with evil intents.

Losing close men day by day, surviving a assassination attempt that led to a war on my land..
-- May God forgive me for my mistakes.

The battle on the mountaintop resulted in a harsh battle.
I froze up.
I don't understand why I did .. But I couldn't move, think, speak other than simply watch.
I'm a coward and a fool.
I never was meant to be king, I'm not even sure if I know how to use a sword correctly.

I've let everyone down.
Shall there be redemption -- my life goes with Modora.

Sir Mathias Of Pickering
Sworn Sword of the King
The Old Knight

Wielder of the Flame of YARI, Worshipper of the Three

1743924252784.jpeg

-Background-
Sir Mathias was once a simple peasant, his story being one that was well-known to the borderlands of the Kingdom of Modora -A story of how even the lowest peasant could aspire to heights of greatness in service to the King. His life had been sworn to the service of the previous King Peor Hiat Blackwood, and even after his assassination, Mathias faithfully served alongside the Boy King despite his mistakes and the collapse of the Kingdom around them. Mathias was there when the schism between the Arkanis and his king began, he was there when Cador renounced the king and turned against him, and he was there when the capital was assailed by forces of the Witch King.

It was in the aftermath of the assault of the capital and descent into Civil War that those around Mathias noticed his exhausted demeanor begin to shift. With an attack on the Cathar faith's church near the capital inviting the arrival of an inquisitor, it was under this inquisitor's watch (among a few others) that Mathias first manipulated fire, taking the flame of a candle into his hand. Due to Mathias' insistence and the pressing civil war, the Inquisitor blessed Mathias and bade him to use the magic against the rising forces of the Witch King.

Immediately after by the final order of the inquisitor, in the dark days before where the Royalists were scattered and hiding to survive, Mathias worked alongside the new Lord Alaric Crowburn and Father Mathias to infiltrate the abandoned Fortress of House Arkanis. Within, they ransacked the castle, taking any of the remaining 'heretical' artifacts that had been left behind. More importantly, perhaps, they also discovered that above the Arkanis throne was a holy artifact. A sword and shield that glamoured with gold. They were quickly taken and the small group escaped, and in seeking refuge they eventually arrived in the old Conrad Castle. Here, as is well known now, is where the royalists began to gather their strength for the Battle of the Mountaintop.

The day that the battle would occur, Mathias came to a decision that has seemingly guided him since. Under the supervision of the same Lord Alaric Crowburn and Father Mathias, he climbed the highest tower found in Conrad Castle and prayed, not to SHAP or PHONES, but in seeking to understand his magic, he sought YARI. What he precisely saw is unknown to all but him, but Mathias has sworn that he was given a vision by the Goddess of the Moon. Rallying with the rest of the Royalist forces, Mathias was given the weapons of Holy Light that had been stolen and marched alongside the Royalists to the mountain, though notably alongside Father Mathias, he did not claim to be fighting under the watch of the Two, but rather that he believed that the Three were all behind the Royalist cause.

The power of magic was put on full display during the Battle of the Mountaintop; as Mathias was capable of conjuring great jets of flame from the simple spark of his sword scraping his shield. In a perhaps ironic way, he faced a wielder of ice magic and though it seemed defeat would take them, the Royalist forces prevailed and prevented the Witch King from finalizing his plans. However, it has been a costly victory and has left Mathias wondering if most of those he fought besides survived.

Being one of the few who still survives as an apparatus of the old Kingdom, Mathias now seeks to work as one of the Seconds in Command in order to see the Kingdom prevail against the crashing tides of the Grappan and Khanate invasions. However, none would be faulted in being wary of Mathias. Despite his age, it seems his magic has somewhat reinvigorated him. If the inherent distrust in magic was not enough to give pause to most Modorans, his open heresy by claiming to worship the Three almost certainly should.

Only time may tell if Mathias is correct.

-Personality-
This whole application is deliberately designed to appear similar to the original application used for this character, which is why this personality section is the way that it is. Here is the original if you wish to compare: https://willard.network/forums/threads/with-fire-and-sword.13074/page-5#post-104368
1743926453081.png
Brave: In the pursuit of his duties, Mathias has never shirked away, even in the face of desperate odds. This still remains true, even now.

1743926664947.png
Honest: Mathias has always kept to his oaths and clearly prides himself in giving his unfiltered opinion to those he asks and those he serves. He has levied this reputation in the present to support his claim to the beneficence of
YARI.

Mathias has never willingly ignored his duty and has always kept to his life-oath, even with the death of his original King. This has partially become a flaw of Mathias, as it seems his attention is divided between focusing on the defense of
Modora and focusing on spreading the truth of the Three.

1743927494468.png
Melancholic: The near collapse of
Modora, the loss of many around him, and the stress of his revelations have all continued to weigh on the mood of Mathias. While in public he continues to put on his brave and brash face, advocating for victory and
YARI. In private, he is struggling to come to terms with his continued survival and his blessing of magic.

1743927707659.png
Restored: While his age still shines through in conversation and occasionally in day-to-day interaction, the usage of magic seems to at least partially restore Mathias' old abilities. His bouts of exhaustion and pain seem to have subsided, though for how long this will be true shall remain to be seen.

1743927276809.png
Heretic: Mathias claims to have been blessed by
YARI, which is heretical to all sects of Catharism. He also advocates for the worship of all three gods of Catharism, which can easily draw the ire of the devout.

1743927432549.png
Disputed Loyalty: With the
Battle of the Mountaintop claiming so many lives, Mathias' life-oath is currently in flux. Depending on the survival of Blackwood house members, his priorities may shift drastically to preserve the children of Peor. If none of them survive, a crisis of loyalty and faith will certainly follow.

I understand that this is a lot for one character, though I will defend that with the fact that all of the backstory events I'm talking about that occurred in the event timeframe genuinely did happen. However, I'm more interested in playing the character than playing with all these different parts of power, so if there is a major issue I'm fully willing to work it out or remove some parts to make this work better with the story we will be experiencing. Easy enough to say that any major changes are due to the shift in timeline.

Sir Mathias Of Pickering
Sworn Sword of the King
The Old Knight

Wielder of the Flame of YARI, Worshipper of the Three

View attachment 43072

Honest: Mathias has always kept to his oaths and clearly prides himself in giving his unfiltered opinion to those he asks and those he serves. He has levied this reputation in the present to support his claim to the beneficence of

CHARACTER NAME: Theochith Vulred - The MEZERET's Champion
View attachment 42719

So, I was originally keen on denying this but as I write the event out more, I think your character would provide a very unique counterbalance to the soon-to-be dynamics of the survivor group. Accepted with some stipulations, DM me.

Mathias, my Father's champion, guided me through, never betraying me nor the name of Modora, a loyal man my Father could always rely on, a man I could always rely on.

"Gwell angau na Chywilydd."

Gwenddydd ferch Dafydd Ap Ewain
The pilot of Brycheiniog, agent of the Combrogi Kingdom, speaker of the Dogfeiling.

converted_image11.jpeg

Gwenddydd was born into a lower noble clan within the Combrogi Kingdom, hailing from the far West where the mountainous terrain and rugged and cold seas clashed; The soil so fertile and the grass an emerald green, a land so enviously watched by the Kingdom's neighbours. Gwenddydd's birth had caused catastrophic calamity within the clan with her mother dying after the child birth and being the only child in a family with no male heir. Her father, Ewain decided to contact the local Druid, Marshall and Sheriff to discuss the matters of the gavelkind laws within the Cyfraith Hywel so that she can inherit her father's land and wealth so that it does not go into the hands of his brother's children, who are known to be knaves within the area of the Kingdom. The Coven and lawmen held a vote, the Druids speaking appraises of the previous actions of Ewain within the local wars and his contribution to unify the Kingdom. The lawmen followed the words of the Druid Coven, it was a confident vote - Essentially made and worded by the Coven. The appeal came with a cost and that was for Gwenddydd to be trained as an agent within the Coven and for the Kingdom - Her service coming under the King, Rhys ap Maredudd.

Gwenddydd's training started at the young age of Seven years old, becoming a page for The Coven and a Knight named Syr Arthur ap Gruffydd. It is here where she learned to read and to write and later started learning her martial skills with a wooden sword along with the other pages. The woman's childhood was rather grueling, time consuming and at most times boring while having to tend with the various amounts of bullying and even beatings from the other pages. At the age of thirteen, she began her secondary martial training within The Coven, headed by the Druids; Learning various arts of healing and nature based magick including herbal alchemy. As she grew older, enjoying plenty games of gwyddbwll, her learning was taking shape to the satisfaction of her knight and The Coven.

At the age of twenty-one she was assigned her first task, personally given to her by the
King's messengers. Her orders was to traverse the Brycheiniog duchy of the the Kingdom and help map and write up a cartography of the area. She had just done that, with the help of Syr Arthur. The journey and work took nearly six months to do, it was a laborious work which often had set backs like having to kill a few outlaws and getting lost due to the poor development of the land. After the work was done, she reported to the Kingdom's capital, Gwyddno and had an audience with the King - He was astounded by her work and was surprisingly ecstatic to meet Gwenddydd, so ecstatic in fact that he had called up a large feast within the castle. It was a time of pleasure and gluttony, Gwenddydd hadn't seen so much food in her life - It was overwhelming for the minor noble. She enjoyed that night, partying and catching the attention of the son and daughter of the King, they held a fondness over her as the young son was smitten with the woman and the daughter had a role model to speak to. On that night forward, she had been dubbed 'The Pilot of Brycheiniog'.

A couple years pass, she has to deal with a clan that's threatening to break away from the
Kingdom. She had been sent by the King on this mission due to her successes with the cartography surveying. It was a headache for her, having to pass message to message and hitting many walls with negotiations; Fearing that it will bring the Kingdom into a civil war, she had to put her foot down and her fist upon the table. She used her levies and fellow knights to bring the leaders into submission as the negotiations waned poorly and as time gone on, her reasonable offers through permission of the King kept hitting dead ends. Gwenddydd decided that enough was enough, she arrested the local leaders using the borrowed levies and knights, while any resistance was put against the sword and spear. She order the deaths of plenty people, even turning around to hang the local leaders... Compliance was gained and the people paid for it in lives and in legal tender.

She felt no pride for what she had done, through the feast she barely touched her bread, meats and pottage but she had to bury it all... As another task was needed of her. There are whispers of a dangerous war in a near-far land, it has the
King shaken and the people hushed in whispers. She took one final gulp of mead, her goblet cleaned out before she started packing to move... Gwenddydd was on a scouting path towards a war, fear clings and claws at her stomach with every step she takes towards this supposed land, an outsider on a mission...

Gwenddydd was born under the Aquarius star sign, giving the woman a positive polarity and a fixed quality, being one with the 'Air' element. Her personality is friendly but aloof, often wanting time to herself but is always open to converse to others and can easily make friends; She's often a warrior for justice, wanting to do the right thing and is less susceptible to ideas and influences of wrong doing, while being a maverick, having her own way of doing things and her own train of thought - A real individualist.

Gwenddydd currently has unbalanced humours...

She has an excess of
Black Bile; Making her become more depressed and melancholy, including a heavier urge to isolate herself from others and be less engaged to a conversation.

She has lacking of
Yellow Bile; Making her less decisive and less ambitious but it also gives her less of a short temper and less aggressive, making her more reserved and less prone to violence.

She has a balanced amount of
Blood, helping her slightly combat the excess of black bile and rebound her energy and soul, supporting her magick and alchemical works.

She has an excess of
Phlegm; Making her more reserved and laid back, working well with the lack of Yellow Bile and her star sign, concocting a highly lax personality.

You are a foreigner in these lands. As you step across the threshold of your own kingdom, you feel a cold wind blow in your face. You cross barren village after barren village, the entirety of a kingdom crossed. But you finally find where you're supposed to be. As you trot on your steed across the newly paved path, you take a moment to admire the landscape. It's all quiet, yet something seems off. The wind carries the scent of decomposing life, and the bitter musk of sulfur-based gunpowder.

Modora is burning.

Accepted.
