Recipe:

  • 2x Alcohol
  • 1x High Explosive
  • 1x Strong Chemical Compound
We'll work from the bottom up to calculate how many raw materials are needed.

STEP 1:

Recipe:
1753707604684.jpeg
  • 1x Alcohol
  • 1x Bottle of Chemicals
You need 1 Strong Chemical Compound for the buckshot:
Total cost so far:
  • 1x Alcohol
  • 1x Bottle of Chemicals

STEP 2:

Recipe:

  • 1x Bottle of Strong Adhesive
  • 4x Strong Chemical Compound

First, calculate 4x Strong Chemical Compound:

  • 4x Alcohol
  • 4x Bottle of Chemicals
So far:

  • ➤ 4x Alcohol
  • ➤ 4x Bottle of Chemicals

Now for the Bottle of Strong Adhesive

You have 3 options. Let's pick the cheapest or most direct.

We'll go with:
1753707694179.jpeg
  • 1x Alcohol + 2x Bottle of Chemicals
So now add:

  • ➤ 1x Alcohol
  • ➤ 2x Bottle of Chemicals

TOTALS NEEDED TO CRAFT BUCKSHOT

From Buckshot recipe:

  • 2x Alcohol (direct)
  • 1x Strong Chemical Compound → 1x Alcohol + 1x Bottle of Chemicals
  • 1x High Explosive →
    • 4x Strong Chem Compound → 4x Alcohol + 4x Bottle of Chemicals
    • 1x Bottle of Strong Adhesive → 1x Alcohol + 2x Bottle of Chemicals

✅ FINAL TOTAL:

  • 8x Alcohol
    (2 direct + 1 from strong chem + 4 from high explosive’s chem + 1 from adhesive)
  • 7x Bottle of Chemicals
    (1 from strong chem + 4 from high explosive’s chem + 2 from adhesive)

If we go to extract alcohol from a bottle, for example borboun which is worth 3 alcohol, it costs each bottle 25 credits. You'd need at least, 3 bottles equal to = 75 credits
Each bottle of alcohol at a smuggler is 35 chips so it would be 280 chips
Each bottle of chemicals is worth 56 credits, totalling: 392 chips

A total 672 chips or 75 credits + 392 chips to buy the chemicals off a smuggler.
this will give you:
  • 12 shells total
  • Each shell costs:
    • ~0.67 alcohol
    • ~0.58 bottles of chemicals
If it takes 5 or more shots to kill a CP or NPC, you're burning ~3–5 shells, which translates to:

  • 🔥 2–3 Alcohol
  • 🔥 1.5–3 Bottles of Chemicals
  • And you're throwing away a High Explosive in the process.

Why This is NOT Worth It

  • You’re burning 8 alcohol and 7 chemicals for 12 shells.
  • Those same materials can likely fetch far more in value when sold individually to a NPC and then using the chips to buy the ammo off a BMD.
  • Crafting a high explosive and strong compound chain just for 12 shells is way too steep.
  • Not to mention the time spent gathering, crafting intermediate items, and managing inventory.
  • Shotgun isn't even efficient: You burn half your box just to kill one armored enemy.

Conclusion

Crafting buckshot from scratch is:

❌ Time-consuming
❌ Material-intensive
❌ Extremely inefficient
✅ Only good if you’re desperate
Verdict: Sell the materials. Buy the ammo.

Yeah no clue why it only gives half a box because rn its just grinding for ammo fest

Hi, accreddited gunsmith here again. If you're wondering why I haven't left, my leave time got pushed back, but I'll still be leaving soon and going radio silent because of Army shit.

Buckshot should be one of the easiest ammunition types to make, given that shotguns are low pressure and can even be loaded with black powder if cleaned and used in a weapon type that doesn't require cycling such as a pump, or single action.

My advice? Split the two ammo types.

One for pump actions and single shots, double barrels, with a cheaper crafting recipe, but lower damage to signify it's using black-powder and an even lower pressure.

And one for shotguns that are semi-automatic and using high quality buckshot.

Shotgun shells should also require plastic, or paper, given the fact that they are one of the only ammo types that use plastic or paper. This can be substituted for the explosive compound requirement.

This is just schizo ramblings, but it's a thought. Any good redneck knows they can make their own blackpowder with a bucket of urine, and fertilizer. Primers can be made from match-heads, the shell casings themselves can be plastic, and the shot itself can be any metal ball bearings, slugs, melted scrap, et-cetera. Shotgun shells are one of the easiest and inexpensive types of ammunition to use, and would be highly prevalent in times of need such as these.

And one for shotguns that are semi-automatic and using high quality buckshot.
With the removal of the MP-155 (For some reason) The only shotgun that is semi automatic is the OTA shotgun.

Unless you want to put the SPAS-12 in that category aswell.

And more stupid a shotgun cartridge holds less gunpowder than a AK round, yet we need more supplies to make shotgun ammo???
Why do I need a WHOLE EXPLOSIVE COMPOUND TO MAKE A SHOTGUN AMMO if my AK has a stronger PUNCH.
