Personal rant. Immersion and feel of Willard.

I've mentioned it a whole two periods
Once when it (allegedly) happened.
Once in this post.

Let's just leave it at that.

CivPro needs to stop making stupid jokes 24/7 to get on the starboard. There. I said it.
I started smashing things in my room when I saw that picture of a CP referring to someone as a femboy in a /me (this is not ironic, we should really start just doing @'s when ever some roleplay slop vendor tries to do this)

Its kinda what u have to do yk

All this from the guy me and Lyingfox saw on Homigrad.
I have no opinions on anything from this, since I am the worst minge on Willard.

Yeah, but there's a propaganda arm on this server that is purposefully made to tie these events as 'good' to intentionally repress 'bad' thoughts about the relocation. If we let everyone think the above sentiment, then we'd likely have unrest/protests. Rather, the aim was to turn it into a positive event and it clearly worked as there were no actual protests or outcry from people. This is simply just the Combine's propaganda cog working.

These are two contradictory statements. The Combine's purpose is to keep everything orderly, but when the Combine institutes obvious propaganda to repress their citizens from actually rebelling, this is deemed unorderly? The Combine does care that its citizens are being fed propaganda weekly in order to keep the city stable, as without this kind of propaganda, the city would fall into chaos. That is what the Combine do not want.

This is being done, perhaps not as obviously as you'd like? There are flaws to shoving straight propaganda down people's throats, as it's less and less effective and just becomes white noise rather than actual convincing talking points.

Yeah, we did a rally, and it didn't go south. It happened to be a major propaganda win because it shows insurgents are incapable of attacking a well-guarded event with a member of the CCA present. Also, I don't know what this obsession is with crowd sizes. If crowds are shunned, then how are we meant to do anything on the server without it violating this rule? Not that rallies or political events would even count toward this, as it's an actual event in which pro-Combine messaging is being espoused rather than a closed-off conversation with 3 people on the street.

Boring as shit, not going to spend 3 hours a day in the Nexus.

Since I was elected Chairman over 4 months ago, I've been out on the street every day I've logged on. I've had 4 assassination attempts and I'm still here, it makes a far better narrative against rebels that the Administration isn't afraid to go out on the streets, nor are they above the very people they rule over. (That's just my own philosophy; others in the CCA will differ). There's value in engaging with the citizens. EDIT: (Awaiting the inactive CCA comments toward me as if I'm the CCA lead.)

P.S

This never happened, but feel free to keep believing it as someone who neither took part in it nor is privy to any IC discussions about it!

I'm not really going to comment on this reply, but I'm going say thank you for your criticism and properly displaying your issues about the post.

Just to name a few things we've had recently:
Literal paranormal activity, Combine starship, random blizzard in august, Ministry of Civil Protection getting banished by a chairman or something like that, City 13 getting destroyed by a Vortigaunt infused nuclear bomb

That's just recent, and barring the MCP thing, all that is stuff that trickled down from the writers of the server. Its messy and its nearly random.
At this stage, I think, narratively, we're just kinda waiting for the Freeman reset. Willard has sort of embraced the fact this round of lore is a bit of a nightmare, so things are getting a bit more 'goofy'. A sort of, 'May as well' kind of energy has become present in all things.
Willard has operated on the rule of cool for a while now. Minor power struggles and clashing groups have global lore ramifications. City Thirteen blows up because Echo One wants to close down.

Willard has always been flexible with its lore, from the implementation of the Security Council to the foundation of groups like the Futurists and Republicans— things that at their times wouldn't have been permitted, but gradually became more prevalent and normalized as players kept pushing them. Acceptances made on Willard to prioritize roleplay and creativity over Half-Life purist lore.

I don't think this is inherently bad. Rather, it reveals what players want in lore for the future, allowing for a more grounded v3 to account for and incorporate these various idiosyncrasies and well-liked ideas from the outset.

I don't think it was the Freeman reset that inspired this, but the purging of the original lore documentation and the announcement of v3, which essentially removed any last guardrails that kept v2 grounded, even as it gradually became more and more silly. That, and the people who worked on v2's lore would rather work on v3.

I don't really have an opinion on why the Combine or their affiliated groups are hosting fun, celebratory events, except that, besides the obvious IC optics, OOC, these events are fun for most players participating.

The Combine can't always be portrayed as an all-encompassing oppressive force, since being overly oppressive, especially towards collaborators, can be immensely stifling on the city roleplay you're trying to create. Thus, events like fairs or festivals tend to be a break away from the monotony of wall RP or re-education and allow the Combine and server in general to project a more positive aspect of city RP that isn't just constant beatings.

It's a fair trade-off, in my opinion, since while you could argue this weakens the Combine's portrayal from the games, it does reinforce other aspects like city RP & loyalism.

Just a short thing from me about the cops, since I'm a command unit. The Combine and Civil Protection have much more to benefit from an united and happy garrison than unhappy and lone wolfs in the garrison. Despite the oppressive regime, the regime in the back has still to ensure their foundations are good e.g as Civil Protection being happy and properly supplied, which increases their morale and will to fight for the combine.

This was specifically during a short story, at least.

I hope at least that there wasn't another time it happened.

I think if there were femboy CP's I could overlook the atrocities of the Combine ngl

I do think Willard should continue to push off its own lore, as if Willard were just following the main lore and story of HL2, then it would be an entirely boring server. I feel in my OPINION, Willard should go off it's own lore, but not add 1000 other things that changes the feeling of what the server is supposed to be.

we need to invade france again, just as god intended.
