Hello in this thread I will be reviewing pieces of entertainment software and other such elements that brighten up our lives on a daily basis.
My review of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
As with all games, some of the things you might experience while playing can make you want another one. Fortunately, you can get this back if you can get your hands on a copy of the PC version of the new Half-Life 2. You can even take it with you to work, since it also contains a few of the early levels that you will find in the PC version of the game.
The good
You will find the game works well with only a single monitor. While the game should run great with a large monitor, using only one is not something that will make much of a difference in overall experience.
The game's framerate is smooth. In some areas, it really does speed up, but mostly what you'll see is a smoother experience.
You can replay the original Half-Life with the new one if you want, although it makes the game look a lot more unmemorable.
The game has a very polished and solid UI. It really helps when running it on a single monitor and using the full screen option (to enable the HUD).
The game looks great on high end PCs with 4k screens and a lot of horsepower for the price, as well as on high end PCs with 4k displays (which you can also play the game on) without any problems.
The music is pretty good. It's the same quality that you're used to from original Half-Life.
The bad news is that it really doesn't fit. The entire story and the ending is basically copied from the PC version. You'll have to go through it twice if you want to see the differences, but after both playthroughs you're really bored with the story. So, the best bet is to buy the Xbox version of the game.
Final Score - 3.5 out of 5
The Game – 2 out of 5
If you don't want to do it and just want to play it for the gameplay and experience, the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 version of Half-Life 2 is the way to go. However, there are other options available.
Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more.
