S2K for Sweeps

People being tied up in combat are obviously not going to catch up to people who are not only unopposed but trying to get away. What is the issue here? That CP can’t mingerun towards players and just S2K them?

I suppose I will just describe a scenario.

A squad is chasing down an anticitizen in the sewers. Its a fair chase until - a headcrab jumps out at the squad and begins chewing on them. They shoot it...TBC enabled. They wait a bit for the system to disband and resume. Only gets worse if more than one NPC happens to be around. Given there can be quite a few in the sewers, this is a common occurrence.
So while the OTA are stuck in limbo, unable to move due to the system, the rebel continues running as if nothing is happening and gets a massive lead as a result. At its core, its a timescale issue.

A combat squad is obviously going to be slowed down when there are zombies and headcrabs obstructing them. I’m not saying this is a behavior issue. I’m saying it’s a feature of the combat system that just so happens to be realistic and reasonable.

A squad of OTA going through the sewers is obviously going to be slower than rebels if they are being occupied by headcrabs, zombies, etc.

A few lone headcrabs taken out by a single pulse rifle bullet would not slow OTA down as much as TBC does. Same for zombies, they could run and shoot them at the same time.

Going to be honest, this made no sense given the above context. The issue is not TBC itself - but the delay caused by one party being affected, and the other not. Which is a legitimate complaint.

If the entire OTA team gets caught in TBC against 1 headcrab, then that just reflects their skills as players and has nothing to do with TBC.

I feel with all the artificial stat boosts and heavy armor, OTA have enough chips on the board. Let them fight a few critters to make it even. Besides, it is unfamiliar territory. I feel like the various hostile things are a good reflected of the home-territory advantage that rebels should have.

Ah yes one OTA at the back being distracted by a single headcrab and shooting it, making a TBC circle encompass the OTA running infront and drag them into TBC, clearly this is punishment for their "lack of skill" and not that TBC is bad for sewer combat. Especially if TBC does catch rebs, they'll just vote for S2K cause everyone doesn't wanna sit waiting for turns to play out. As for how OTA and CP's can get around this, they'll just start ignoring NPC's to go for the player/s. That'll be real fun for rebs when they get tagged and frozen for TBC to start because OTA ignore headcrabs attacking them and just combat heal with their free medical shit.

If Overwatch is abusing having medical script items to the degree where they can avoid NPCs entirely, the problem is the faction, not the TBC system.

i can honestly see rebel-biased admins deliberately spawning NPCs in the OTA's path in order to give rebels substantially more time to flee to their impenetrable secret base

not naming names but shit like that has happened on other servers and i'm not convinced it won't happen here too

This is legitimately one of the most violently anti-resistance servers I've played on. Exemptions for CPF, Overwatch, and Loyalist crime reporting that would otherwise net a metagame or powergame violation are put into effect after violations come up, and the rulebreaker goes unpunished.

There doesn't need to be anything more that puts the advantage in the hands of Combine factions - the server rules already do a well enough job of that.

I would argue that not being able to outrun, predict or hide from a S2K sweep really reflects your skills as a player...

good. being a resistance member should be hard, and being a sewer-dwelling circlejerk rebel with soviet surplus gear should be even harder.

Sure, but allowing their antagonist factions to actively break rules, and actively changing them to make it harder? Definitely not going to retain much of that playerbase for long.

I think we know what kind of CP/Rebel dynamic you want....
