To the far east of the Russian Motherland lies a snowy, mountainous range devoid of life... for the most part. Perched atop the snowy mountain of Pik Pobeda is a structure containing a cluster of horrors within its walls. A place of never ending torture, Hell, boxed within a metal shell. Most outsiders know little to nothing about this place due to the facility being isolated within miles of a landscape devoid of any civilisation, be it Combine-controlled cities or otherwise. Despite this, a heavy defence system surrounds the perimeter with walls and such laid around the facility to keep anything out. Airwatch units scour the area, gunships and hunter choppers scan the surface constantly. Dropships fly in and out, delivering their payloads before flying away into the night sky. Within this structure is held hundreds of individually selected prisoners who have committed an exceeding amount of wrongdoings toward the Combine's law, this is one of the many on-world locations that these types of people can be sent to.

If they end up here, they will surely feel the absolute worst of the Combine's punishments. Prisoners are transported via dropship and are instantly placed within pods as they arrive that are then stored in a tower, spiking out into the sky. This chamber is known as the Holding Area and houses every single prisoner before they are sent off for 'testing'. This facility is made to research, and 'test' the biology of humans, such as studying their psychology and physiology, to possibly develop them into better transhuman machines. Prisoners from the nearby Detainee Site 072 are occasionally sent here if need be.

Prisoners here are tested in various ways, these include removal of limbs, internal bodily functions, etc, with replacement to more mechanical alternatives. All while the subject is alive during the entirety of the procedure, the effects of different headcrab types on a person are studied thoroughly. Psychological methods include being trapped in a dark room and played various types of intimidating sounds such as headcrab zombie groans and screams, recorded sounds of babies crying in agony, door pounding noises, whispering, and many others. Sometimes horrifying pictures and videos are shown amidst these, with common ones being the full human-to-synthetic transformation process. They may also include a time lapse headcrab zombie transformations, videos of live amputations, pictures of war, torment, suffering and so-on.

Some prisoners are isolated in rooms for days without food, water, or anything at all. In turn this causes an eventuality driving the inmates crazy, continuing to be tested on until the limits have been pushed too far. Others are forced out into the cold with little more than an uncomfortable one-piece prison suit, forced to work in unbearable conditions at times. All of this is fabricated to test the limits of the human mind and body, slowly tearing away both life and sanity from its inmates for the Combine's benefit. No one makes it out alive, they are only slowly decomposed of their sanity and being, until the pressure builds up too much and kills them off one-by-one. The more that an inmate is drained of their humanity, the more benefited the likes of the Overwatch Transhuman Arm and other human forces are, fueling an ever-growing army of mindless soldiers and slaves toward the Combine.

The facility itself is made up of multiple complexes. The only entrance to the facility is an air-access only door which leads to the prisoner extraction bay, where prisoners are loaded off from a dropship into the facility, this is also where airwatch units are docked and maintained before being sent off to cover the surrounding area. This area leads to the Holding Area, prisoners are put into pods and placed with many others to await testing, this follows into an elevator, where multiple floors are present, leading to multiple testing chambers. It can also lead up to the control room where prisoners within the Holding Area can be extracted and sent out, located at the very top of the tower. At the side of the facility is an outlook post and monitoring facility, that overlooks every room within the building, this tower also contains the facility's power generator. A light on top of the tower stays a yellow colour to signal that the facility is secure, if ever this light turns red, it means there is some sort of danger present from within or outside the facility. A military presence is located here and is to be dispatched at the first sign of danger, with their usual duties being transferring prisoners from room-to-room. Watchtowers are located in areas surrounding the facility and are on guard at all times.

bit bizarre how this molten shithole would just exist in a cold place in russia

In essence of what nash is saying, I have to agree with what's stated. This kind of strays quite a bit onto the deep end outside of Half Life establishment. Including the use of Darth Vader's Castle on Mustafar. Considering this is also in upper Siberia within Eastern Russia, I'd say that this is rather quite strange for it to suddenly turn into a lavascape in such a short period of time.

It also feels that this "facility" of some sorts just exists for the simple reason of: "Just because."

I feel that the Combine wouldn't establish something like this with the intent of terraforming parts of the Earth to create facilities like Dagger. For example if you were to look at the other suggestions in relation to facilities, there is a lot more information given about their intent, their purpose and a given perspective on the geographical location they're in with a much more in depth description.

At the moment, this cannot be supported as a logical addition. Including the use of Vader's Castle. Also, the name doesn't seem suitable and its intent with it just being a prison in the middle of nowhere doesn't fit the standard.

I will give you time to edit this as to give it a chance of proper redemption.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, I do realise I've been lacking as of recently in terms of additions to the lore, I'm tryna delve deeper and see if I can take more risks. I shall go through this thoroughly, and try my best to improve/redo all of this, change the weird cameo of Vader's castle and put more effort in overall. I'll update once I've edited, or if I scrap this entirely. Thanks again

For one, this is much better than what you've posted beforehand. A far better version than what I hoped for.

However - let's talk about sentence structure for a moment. Some of the sentences are entire paragraphs at full length and it kind of hurts my head when trying to read. While your content within this post has been beneficially patched up, you'll need to be careful of how the posts are laid out. I can fix this for you or I can leave you to do it.

Ah yes, I shall fix that for you, sorry my man, I am tired rn so I was kinda just mindlessly pressing enter whenever I pleased lol

the problem was the formatting of the sentences lol, too many commas - less actual, readable sentences that you can take in at once.

anyway formatting isnt a HUGE problem, its just something you wanna get really in the mood for in the future :)

e: you're also better off separating those huge paragraphs into small ones

Yea, I'm gonna catch some sleep now, I got grammarly for that exact problem but it's kinda shite for comma splicing which is probably my worst weakness, anyways yea I'll work on it, night!

Interesting, however could be paragraphed with appropriate use of grammar such as: (. , ; : - _)
