The year is May 2010, the first signs of a now evergrowing threat to the Combine-controlled Korean Peninsula are now clear. Government powers from within both Cities 34 and 25 prepare themselves for battle as the resistance force labelling themselves as 'The United Korean Front' begin swarming between the opposite cities. Heavy military action is taken as both cities begin scrambling to fight off the threat, building up massive industries to assist in producing as many military resources as possible. City 34's newly erected citadel regularly dispatched units northward. It eventually became evident that the power of these two cities together overpowered most of the UKF forces, with the remaining few going into hiding somewhere within the DMZ.

For the first time in forever, the north and the south assisted each other, but not in the way many in the past would've expected. The nation is still torn apart however with the UKF still lurking somewhere between the two cities, preventing any further expansion from either city. All citizens within City 34 are forced into labour, working around 14 hours daily with little break time at all and no rewards of value. Despite the severity of the threat regarding the UKF being low the city's inhabitants are still pressured into believing that they are still toe-to-toe with the so-called terrorist group when in reality it's just a matter of fighting off the remaining lot hiding out. The chances the UKF will ever rise to the point they were beforehand are low, yet City 34 still produces tons of military equipment per day.

Of course, that's not to say conflict isn't a problem within the peninsula, it has been a hotspot for other resistance bases aside from the UKF, those who choose to disassociate themselves from the group. A full-scale invasion could seem likely, but the question is when such a thing would take place. When will City 34 decide to expand its military into the peninsula and ultimately connect the two cities safely? No one knows. Not even the Administration Board can decide. The status of the group isn't even entirely known, with any sort of push into the DMZ being a risky venture. It could be a walk in the park or a crawl through Hell. A game of Russian Roulette, with City 34's finger on the trigger.

City 34's industrial centres are harsh and unforgiving; you better work hard or you are guaranteed to face instant punishment. City 34 treats its labour very seriously due to how hard it pushes the act of being at war with the UKF, an excuse to treat citizens harshly if not meeting the working standard of the city. This intentionally leads many to sign up for Civil Protection to seek a life away from industrial labour, eventually ranking themselves up to the Overwatch forces which in turn builds up City 34's military presence greatly. In short, if you're located in City 34 you'll either drop dead working or give up yourself to their evergrowing army.

City 34's citadel looms over the city, with spotlights circling the top and a Union logo printed on the side, something from within causes a thick layer of cloud to circle it, forming into a red colour as it swirls closer. This structure presents a menacing look and is a symbol of power for City 34. It marks the combine's victory over most of the peninsula and is also the main source of military defence within the City. At the top is where its administrator, Kim Sung-hwan resides, a former politician who obtained power from the Combine by heavily assisting their victory over the peninsula.

The former president of South Korea, Lee Myung-bak's status is unknown, however, it is theorised he went out into hiding within the DMZ shortly after the war, and either died or has joined with one of the many Resistance forces, most likely the UKF. Some other former members of the South Korean government have joined the city's CAB, including former DAPA Minister Chang Soo-man and MOFA Minister Yu Myung-hwang, who somewhat helped in surrendering South Korea.

Plans are being put in place for City 34's military to expand further north. When these plans are executed? Only time will tell, but victory over the DMZ will grant plenty more benefits toward C34, allowing easy connection between both cities and establishing safe means of transportation for supplies, OTA/CP/etc units, citizens, and so on. Those sheltering themselves within the DMZ expect some sort of invasion and prepare themselves in any way possible, it is unknown just how prepared they are, however.

Hmm. A citadel.

With revelations brought upon by HL:A- I feel that Citadels should be somewhat rare and it does not seem likely that they would put one in Seoul of all places when there is a far more prominent one in Tokyo (City 8).

I get where you’re coming from, however, I think that most (and someone can correct me if I’m wrong here) but most cities currently on our lore map do not even mention a citadel, with the exception of a small few. And still, I don’t see the point in not constructing a citadel – a structure very advantageous in terms of defence when your city is under the threat of an outside force, as explained in the above description, it helped in dispatching a large number of units, both ground and airborne, towards the attackers, which something as small as a simple nexus just wouldn’t be able to. As we know, citadels seem to act like massive factories and maintenance centres for a city’s military, which in theory would be able to mass produce units whenever necessary. This helped in aiding City 34’s victory against the UKF.

lets not jump to immediate complications with the addition of HL:A

i like the concept but i'll have to give it a proper read before i give my personal verdict

Edit: Finished this off properly, I felt like I ended off on a dull note beforehand.
