I am requesting for making of a Prison System, one that allows you to enter a charge for the person and have them dragged into the prison cell.
Operations go as following;
  • Drag prisoner into nexus (Zip-Tie, Alt+E to drag person)
  • Select terminal, opens a screen that allows you to call the Verdict and Cycles. (An open dialogue box that allows you to enter the charge, + a box to enter the cycles)
  • Drag prisoner into cell. (Let the timer tick down and go do something else for a bit. (or Roleplay with the Prisoner! Roleplay goes along way with systems like this!))
  • When the timer runs out, a ping! Reminds units to collect the prisoner and release them from the nexus. (The timer automatically deregisters them from the prison system)
And also a Civil Status / Unit Management console, that can also be called up by dispatch (/civilmanagement (/cm))
This terminal will allow the Unit/Dispatch to call the Civil Status of a Citizens, with custom dispatch lines that aren't muddled by strict voice-commands,
for example; "Individual, you are charged with capital malcompliance. Anti-citizen status approved." becomes
"[F. Surname #CID], you are charged with capital malcompliance. Anti-citizen status approved." and so forth with all Individual/"You" dispatch lines. (For Dispatch/RL only)
and a Unit Management system in the terminal, that allows for RLs/CpT's to promote and demote units via a menu that would quickly switch the units tagline (their name) and update their log file.

Having these systems would improve QoL for units more, and provide more RP towards the nexus area for Prisoners and such instead of having them stun-battened and shoved out the way.

I think detainment is a good punishment for bad boys and girls but people would complain about being stuck in a cell for an hour with no RP. It works on aurawatch because their playerbase is more flexible and mature (and the server is only up once in a blue moon) and it works on Impulse because there’s no RP on impulse.

People are striving for any shred of RP they can get. This would allow them that, and give them options along the way.
People on this server are mature, but you need only the correct amount of mature, and if your thrown into a cell without RP? You've always got us staff to rectify it!

We need that mini-prison section of the map D47 had, Would be great if we had a place for long term Prison rp/Prison guards. The whole 9 yards, It would give OTA mains/players something to do when they can't realistically be flagged in nexus as they'd be sweeping/patroling the prison which would house valued Anti-citizens/political dissidents/High risk snitches etc.. It doesn't need to be huge either, It just needs to be big enough to house the prisoners maybe a shower a ration line which guards let them out once a day or so and perhaps they're show propaganda to help brain-wash them for re-release into society.

Imagine you're a high tier Anti-citizen caught, But a good role-player and much the way we had penal battalions you're given the chance to either A be amputated or B. Spend a few ooc months in prison with other people, Maybe while there you make friends swap stories find ways to make/hide contraband from the guards or plot your escape. Perhaps you slowly become numbed and buy into the pro-combine propaganda and are re-released as a changed loyalist. Perhaps you play along resisting mentally all the way.

Imagine making tunnels in your cell, Meeting people from the outside who smuggle luxuries in you of course must find creative ways to hide, that you use chips or some prison currency like cigarettes to trade those food stuffs or razors for. And perhaps if things get really bad say in C-2 For example your character may be pulled aside by the warden and offered "Amnesty" In exchange for participating in a penal battalion. Additionally, Perhaps those who stay on the combines good side, Inform/snitch on other inmates or give up Resistance secrets are rewarded with more comfortable living afforded comfier beds books commissary points added to their accounts. Ect.

You may say "Well people will get bored." If there is an actual Prison where people are interned with a lore built around it and things to do/interact with then they will find ways to entertain themselves, If the frame work is there people will likely find a way to figure it out.

Instead of just a /event describing your characters journey off to a prison your character joins a group of others who were unfortunate enough to land themselves in your same situation, Or looking on the bright side and were fortunate enough to be seen as useful by the Combine in one way or another and worthy of some form of a "Second-Chance" As brutal as it may appear.

Personally I'm a bit torn on this idea. I'd help to create a better sense of loathing against the Combine. Anyone can stand being fed RP and beaten, then released. But being locked in a cell for thirty minutes on your lonesome, forbidden any human interaction until the time is up?

That'd annoy the player themselves, encouraging dissent.

A double sided blade of something that prevents RP and Interactions that has the potential to better create it through consequences. Although I'm leaning more towards the 'harmful' side.

... I bloody hate Dark RP jails and those only last for 5 minutes.

Honestly I wish more servers did prison RP instead of just beating or amputating people. We know they detain people in the retail games, why not have some fun with it on the server? Creates RP, have things like yard time and cell inspections and stuff.

Exactly. I ran away from the cops and got thrown into a pit. Wish a bit more happened between then instead of big bad cp caps you

Im starting an IRL labour camp in Vorkuta pls volunteer
(Prisoners can be forced into Manual Labour jobs for either the cops themselves or CWU if detained.)

Yes make prisoners just do routine work, you could add scripts or machines, you could make them break down stuff, wash dirty cloth. etc. Maybe it could be automatized with a prop running for 30 sec if you put rocks etc. inside, so no CP and CWU need to be present but the player has to work his time off and may be released sooner if he actually works.

If we had an actual gameplay loop WITHIN detainment, I would say yes. But HL2RP has done and done the 'Okay you talked sht about the combine now sit in the cell for 20 minutes' thing and it has never really been fun for everyone. If we had an area like everyones saying where you're entered into th system and have to like gather 15 rocks or some shit (and a system to break out) sure.

Otherwise we can literally just RP putting someone in, and then timing them. We don't need scripts to leave someone in a cell for 15 mins and come back. I just like to filter people in and out so they can get on with their lives. Either you get amped, re-educated, or interrogated.

This pretty much. Detainment RP has never worked out in the history of mankind, unless there's a special amount of cops available for this exact purpose. Right now, that's not the case, though we're willing to look into it again when activity picks up.

I support prison rp but no OTA around ty, this isnt nova prospekt, not like they can rp with the prisoner anyway.

"Prison RP" has and always will be an absolutely poor and archaic concept of the past. It NEVER works out how people expect it too.

Civil Protection are a limited resource in the end and often (especially on WN) don't have the numbers to have one just fuck off into detainment.
Civil Protection are always best located on the streets where they can roleplay with multiple citizens instead of one dude in detainment.
Civil Protection often forget that a citizen is even in detainment.
The act of detaining and then releasing is often just a chore.
Citizens often just rather disconnect or go AFK when they have to be forced into a cell for their arbitrary 10 minutes.
Half (if not most) the time, the unit doesn't even want to RP any sort of prison RP.

The whole concept of detainments only exists because people think "well they have to go to jail when they do bad things because it's just like real life". Except this is a roleplay gamemode, where people are trying to have fun. Prison is not fun, especially when the person you are going to be interacting with is just going to be a brick wall to any sort of things YOU want to do with YOUR character.

Instead, find more creative ways to deal with those who break the law. The city itself is already a prison, and the Civil Protection are the guards and wardens who can do almost anything they want. Harshly interrogate the Citizen. See that they are sent off to Nova Prospekt in the sense that they LOSE that character for a while for more serious infractions or suspicion of severe crimes. Do something directly with them instead of throwing them in Nexus detainment. It has its place to temporary hold people but it should only be when they HAVE to wait in order for something else to be made ready for them.

Hell, if enough people break the law, force the Citizens into a Civil Protection ran work cycle that involves much more grueling or dangerous work. The results of breaking the law shouldn't be exclusionary to one person since in the end, its a horrible regime which sees its entire civil populace as one organism that must be kept in line.

We'll discuss this among the rank leaders to see how plausible/efficient it can be.

I am requesting for making of a Prison System-
I'm going to stop you right there.
No.
N-o.
Isolating someone from roleplay and throwing them in a box for several minutes because they played the game makes no sense. You're punishing them for roleplaying.

As for the dispatch announcements; I don't exactly see how a feature like that is required. You can simply just write the announcement yourself. "/dispatch Attention please, J. SMITH, confirm your civil status with a local protection team, immediately.".

As for the promote/demote thing - that already exists in the PDA, as seen here:

I've seen this before in old servers.

it's boring and destroys roleplay. also is a pain in the ass to manage

hl2 isnt about prison systems its about using brute force instead

get real cps

Interrogations and forced physical labour are both things that happen IN PRISONS - your objection doesn't really make any sense

You're saying that instead of a prison, you could do all the stuff cops do to people in prisons in some secure area - that's a prison. You're describing a prison.

"Sending people to Nova Prospect" is literally sending people to prison. It's a prison. You're describing a prison sentence, in a prison. I find it hard to believe there can't be a way to make being locked up for a little more boring than literally temporarily banning that character.

Nova Prospekt isnt an actual prison

If anything, its a holding facility for captured human anti-citizens before being forcefully made into stalkers or transhumans

I don't see how this has to be seen as "isolation from roleplay" - just make the prisons an interesting place to be.
Never seen anybody say BOLd rebels having to go into hiding to be removed because "Rebelling is just roleplaying and isolating people from roleplay and throwing them in the sewers makes no sense"

I think the underlying complaint that motivates all the calls for prisons is simply that as it stands, most CP don't like giving out re-educations and make them super boring - they're either done with so quickly it's almost pointless or they're so dragged out and lifeless it's functionally exactly like just locking a player up for 5 minutes (Sorry all the CPs that write out a /me for five minutes before dragging people halfway across the map, writing another /me and dragging them to the clinic). The player attitude *and* the law code is heavily skewed towards PKs. If prisons punish roleplay, I don't see how this rewards it

then make re-educations interesting. its not a technical-wide issue that cp players dont like doing re-educations. roleplay always has been a game that relies heavily if not only on its playerbase. you ain't gonna change a thing adding a prison because "re-educations are boring".

cp gameplay gets boring because they make it boring

before i got my cp pk'ed i used to get payments from citizens in exchange of re-educating beating people that they had beef with. thats just an exemple

roleplay ends when imagination ends
