Blank Books should be infinitely editable.
I've personally tried to keep an IC logbook with a book. But when you're limited to 3 edits, that makes it quite hard.

It allows for more fun with books such as writing diary's, keeping logs, writing observations into it.

Yeah, that's it
Thanks. <3

As much as I would like for books to have no edits....

It's been stated before they will never give indefinite edits.

Is there a reason for it? Seems simply lame.
It takes away from the Writing Stores as if there were indefinite edits nobody would be buying more than one book ever.

You can give them a limit amount of pages and unable to edit what you wrote when you hit save. Can't erase pen

Do erasers not exist in this timeline? Lol. I understand it's just a game but the fact that we are bending basic logic to appease game mechanics (like we did with kitchen tools breaking like glass because we want people to be able to sell more) it just seems silly. Limit the page amount or something but edits? C'mon man.

It's to promote the sale of more books. That's why all writing material has limited edits. I do think the book should have a bit more as people seem to use them as journals mostly, but having unlimited edits would generally decrease the need to buy as many books as people are purchasing now.

Formatting the feedback:

For blank books to function more fairly and actually usable in RP, these changed would be amazing:

Infinitely editable:
This will allow the books to become useful for more than just menu's, you can keep logbooks ICly, write diaries or make observations with them.

Limited pages:
As a compromise for infinite editing, give books limited pages. So that they can still be sold in stores.

Removing old text:
As for another compromise, it would be impossible to remove previously added text. When you are editing a book, and you hit SAVE. It is like that forever. You can only add more onto it in a next like and not edit the previous ones.

I believe this is very fair, as it allows for books to be used more properly ICly and it still allows for them to be sold when you write your book full of text.

Honestly, the only point to this I would agree with is giving books more pages to write in, like being able to flip to the next page or two and write more. Obviously I have no idea how hard or easy that would be to actually make possible, so I won't say otherwise, but I know there have been times where I wished we could fit more into a single book.
- Removing old text/editing text (writing in a book with PENCIL and using an eraser) makes sense when using books, though..
-Adding a hard limit to edits IS necessary so that people don't just infinitely alter the same book and just reuse it. Over time books would begin to worsen in condition if you constantly erased the contents of EVERY page over and over. That being said, maybe adding one or two more edits could be a beneficial alteration, but beyond that is a bit much.
Just saying 🤔
I've seen books be used VERY well by other players in RP, one person even writing an actual novel and short stories.

I'll just throw in my two cents

My character is very intrested in literature and writing, and aspires to write novels in the future
Writing an entire novel in two pages is, you know, kinda hard
Now, hear me out on this, why don't we implement a minecraft-like system?
You can edit as many pages as you want, as many edits as you want, (or at the very least a big amount of each) but to make other people able to read them you have to sign the book

That way if you want people to read the book (maybe use them as menus for shops or just as normal informative books) you need to buy new ones each time, and if you want to use them as just a diary you keep to yourself you don't have to create an encyclopedia of your life
