| -BACKSTORY- Alicia Yankovic was born in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a household with her parents, her brother, and her grandmother. Throughout her school life, she was a relatively intelligent student, often scoring to perfection on all of her classes. In her learning, she became fascinated with the human body and it’s workings, leading her to the decision of pursuing a career that would complement her interests. As she finished up the final year of her highschool, she was offered a scholarship to the University of Washington due to academic excellence. This scholarship was initially for four years to get her bachelors in anatomy, but she ended up changing mid-way to pursue the field of a doctor. She managed to keep a nearly perfect GPA throughout her years in University, so the facility continued to fund her studies as she progressed towards her goal. Near the end, she ended up graduating as the top of her class to become a Doctor of Medicine. After gaining her degree, she looked to see what paths her many career fields could take her. At the age of 26, Alicia decided that the United States Armed Services had benefits that far outweighed most others jobs. She joined the U.S. Army as the rank of Captain, an elevated rank awarded for the billet she would be holding. For the very short amount of time that she was in the Army, she worked as a physician in the hospital of Fort Irwin, California. Since she had such a highly needed job, the Army spent less time on making her learn combat related Army things versus her intended job. She deployed to Iraq once, and Afghanistan once. Both of the deployments were combat tours, but as a Doctor of Medicine, she never took part in any of the combat directly. Once the Combine took over, she held a negative opinion on what her future had in store for her, but after some time, her opinions and views shifted along with the Combine’s control of the world. As with almost all military personnel, they were immediately put to work in one of the three occupations. Civil Protection, Overwatch Transhuman Arm, and the Arm-Arteria. Remaining in captivity, knowledge of either three of the routes was hidden from her and the rest of the soon to be Combine assets. Alicia had absolutely no say in the matter, and at her angle, she was lucky to be alive at this point. Without her own knowledge, she was screened by the Combine alongside her military counterparts. Day by day they disappeared from their holding cells, leaving only speculation of what the alien force had in store for them. Little did the remaining soldiers know, the process for transhumanization had already begun and was in full swing to get operational. For the non-combat personnel of the military, they were funneled into the Civil Protection and Arm-Arteria. Alicia unluckily was forced into the latter. After she was conscripted into the militant group, her thoughts settled as she thought this new field of work couldn’t be too different from her service prior to the war. Her uselessness in combat left her nearly at the bottom of the food chain amongst the enlisted ranks. Most of her experience lied with being a Doctor rather than a soldier, so her new position suffered for it. Despite the setback in quality of life and responsibility, she took her role as a combat medic seriously. Alicia trained vigorously with her fellow ‘conscripts’ to become a better infantryman and member to her fireteam. With many years of experience being gained with the AA, she proved herself useful as a medic, and soldier of the Combine. Through her service, her admiration and love for the Combine only became greater. She grew bonds with those she worked with, and ultimately was left with a purpose in life. Life with a purpose was valuable, and overall, something rare in this day and age. Rising her way up the ranks, she made it to the lower end of field command as a nominal. During one of the combat deployments in the outlands, she was struck with a large caliber gunshot to her right thigh, shattering her femur from the impact of the bullet. This injury put her out of service for a while, and ultimately, ended her time within the AA. Though the advanced medical technology helped her heal to a great extent, she would never be 100% back to full efficiency. She was given the chance to separate from the AA and assume status as a loyalist, or transfer to the Civil Protection and continue to serve the Combine and her benefactors. Alicia opted to continue serving the Combine in the very end, not wanting to lose the purpose she had in life. She knew well that she could have just been removed from the AA for no longer being of use. Despite that possibility, she was treated and nursed back to almost full health, so she had a debt to repay in her eyes. She transferred to her current location, City 24. Here she is a standard functionary within the Civil Protection. |
