What do you think of a wipe?

Should there be a wipe? (items, chars, etc)

A wipe is not on the table.

This is simply me, not related to the admin team, trying to find out what people think.

It is not uncommon for HL2rp servers in the past to experience a wipe, but we are not like other servers.

As we can see the community is very divided on this issue in some places. I'm sure many of these discussions will provide information to better improve the quality of the server. I thank everyone who provided well constructed feedback within this thread.

Wipe, no wipe; its all the same.

You fix the weapon issue but don't fix the RP issue.

You could go back to the BS era of a Uzi being the best you could get after a OOC month of grinding and having an AK-47 means you are a god; its all the same.

Your still not fixing the core issue; the lack of roleplay and engagement of the players.

Also, the so called OP weapons rebels have aren't even used 90% of the time because they are rarer then you think; you need to go on Expeditions or save up a lot of chips and hope BMD is on (unless something fucked up and someone is handing out gear for free). Hence they are only pulled out for Expeditions or for big operations like the Triumph attack.

Most other times, CP's have a very easy time wiping the table of rebels; constant sweep reports showing zero to maybe 1-2 casualties CP side and multiple rebels and even entire groups being wiped out show proof of that.

I CBA though besides this post to go in depth because ppl either still don't get it or are arguing in bad faith so nothing I will say will matter in the long run.
 
a fresh start never hurts but i'm not sure what it would really accomplish since a lot of characters are already well established
 
I see no advantage to this. The economy isn't going to change because everyone has the same gear. People will grind, people will get good gear, people will lose it, and it'll end up back in circulation one way or another.

The wipe won't really change much of anything, other than piss a lot of people off. Perhaps hold off on it for a much later period. Maybe, when everyone's had a chance, people would be more open to a wipe, but now a lot of new people are coming in, and doing a wipe now seems obtuse.
 
Why??
The fact that you saw this as a good idea baffles me, why would we want our entire roleplaying history just wiped from existence, we might as well play on a different hl2rp server at that point.

Wiping your ass after a shit doesn't mean you won't need to wipe after a shit later down the line.
