What do you think would make businesses on the server better?

There are many factors that go into ensuring a active business sector in this RPG server. However never before has it seemed smooth like butter.

Please make any suggestions that you feel would make it better and discuss the current state of business and how it could be improved.

Businesses shouldn't have infinite stock, their wares should be limited to stock they get from daily shipments and their own collecting, similar to how player BMDs plan to be done. This stock could be made during workshifts/imported from outside cities/districts, thus attracting the idea of sabotage/theft from rebel organisations, aka a typical push & pull mechanic that should be prevalent in all online games with obvious teams.

Stock (theoretically) isn't infinite. We can only get so much of an item through the barter menu, though I agree having more challenges to face as a business would make it more dynamic for the DoB players

The city needs an economy, the constant 'asspulling' of goods is a detriment to whatever economy remains and doesn't provide much in the means of roleplay either.

Imports, stock, stores have stock, buy more stock.

Remove DOB let anyone own stores... simple FIX (note: im a wage slave (retail worker) so i know how this works)

Who will ensure the owner stays active? Quality checks? Set them up with permits as well as their employees over time? You could say CWU but they have enough going on with them. I need more info on how if the DOB was disbanded then how stores would operate.

Idk

Remove the stupid economic department that made running a business hell, if they actually want to contribute to running businesses then fine. But in their last implementation literally, all they did was make roleplay harder and made me want to flag on less.
The CWU has to do activity checks and manage businesses there is no way around it, and stores need to be individual and have things to make them care about them. The only way to do this is to allow individuals full control of the management of these stores.

If you want businesses to be active, the simple way to do that is to make the pros of owning a business outweigh the cons. Every time you make running a business harder, less profitable, and more of a chore, fewer people will be interested in doing it. Every time you give people liberty, freedom, and opportunity to use their business people become more interested in doing it.

Make certain tools and upgrades be more worth buying. The Coffee maker only saves you 30 credits until it breaks but costs 45 to buy. Makes no sense economically.

I think this would help both sides, what if CWU had to supply the stores using work shifts to make the stock? It would stop stores from selling every item because they would only buy things they know will sell, making all the stores unique in a way.

i don't know much, but i know stores. and rebel rp. and citizen rp. and cop rp. make me god ok ill fix everything

This always destroys stock because CWU isn't active enough to provide enough, and then destroys stores because they're not profitable enough to stay open.

It works on other servers but, yeah CWU is usually inactive

We have a VERY active CWU workforce who do multiple work blocks a day. I've seen on other servers how they allow citizens to create actual scripts and package them to be sent to stores. It works very well and with how Willard's CWU functions it can add another more productive form of RP. Proper shipment documentation as well of what goes in and out of shops rather than infinite ass pulling from a Script Printer in the back room.

TLDR: Make shop owners have limited stock. Allow CWU to hold work blocks to create said scripts and package them in containers to be delivered. (Also allows ppl to actually steal from them providing theft RP)

I like the CWU idea, it would also be nice if supplying didn't just come from the CWU "wholesale" but you could organize specialists (who recieve training for those products) to deliver to stores that need it, creating professional relationships between the two, and possible competition if multiple suppliers (or stores) exist.

but you could organize specialists (who recieve training for those products) to deliver to stores that need it,
My only gripe with having key-specific CWU workers who know how to make certain products is it can get messy real quick if they are inactive.

I'd say let ALL CWU workers create ALL products. We wouldn't want The Pint not getting alcohol shipments because CWU worker #4 hasn't been on as much or held a work block right?

Overall I really, REALLY support the idea of CWU making the products that Store owners need to purchase in bulk. IT makes sense for the business owners to PAY the CWU for the goods they want to sell. Because the store owners at this time have near-infinite money, no taxes, etc.

Make them pay for their stock.

More support for grocery store type businesses. Even if it were just in RP, I want shelves full of items to pick up and buy at a counter.
I did suggest a store that could more easily support this type of business when atle announced v4’s development but he decided to stick with the restaurant/bar approach.
A script that lets you stock shelves, like everyone’s favourite minecraft mod, would be great. Have the items displayed on a shelf and you’d pick them up with the price displayed, sort of like the vending machines. But that’s probably a bit too complex
