Steam Name: Pierre Paris

Name of the Admin you were banned by:
@Rabithunter
How long is the ban for?:
Three days.
The reason you were banned?:
Supposedly not acting like a bird according to @Rabithunter

"Reason: You have been told repeatedly to act like a brid, when in character. Appeal on the forums. - Rabithunter"

Why do you wish to be unbanned?:
I wish to be unbanned because I think this ban was a total reach from Rabit. I don't know what he was even doing in character, but I was occupied doing my own thing. I was pushing an empty bottle around on the floor as if my bird (Burger) was attempting to get some liquid out of it. Of course this was purely for my own RP and entertainment and I must state that no one else was involved with this, and I had not attempted to involve or antagonize anyone. I saw a CP from the group I was near do a /me:
*** [Your everyday, Civil Protector.] pauses, staring down at the bird with the bottle.
--- and at that point I had already moved this bottle around enough, so upon seeing that /me I decided to leave it at that:
*** Burger would be finished passively playing with a bottle, seemingly. The bird is bored and flutters off
--- and thats when I left, mind you this was at the makeshift CMU, and I was on my way out to find more sticks to build a nest
After that was when I was slapped with a three day ban from Rabit, and I didn't even get a warning from rabit about what I did. I think he absolutely overstepped in this, and I'm rather frustrated about it as I had taken his last advice in the past about what not to do as a bird, which even now thinking about it, I've only been told what to and not to do as a bird by rabit himself and no one else. I don't know if he has a problem with birds or he takes everything too serious, but I should stop as I'm getting myself distracted here. If you would like other examples please tell me and I'll gladly elaborate.

Do you have any picture or video evidence to support your reason?: 1653439344173.png

Were there any witnesses who can help in this appeal?: (List the steam and/or character names of them or tag them)
Not entirely sure. There was one CP and another lady.

Hello

Let me start by pointing out a few things to you first. I have on three separate occasions, told you expressly to role-play as a bird, when you are on that character. In real life, a bird does not go up to people without hesitation first. They can be coaxed into being fed by hand, should the bird itself have enough experience and confidence in doing so, which can be attained over time. This seems to be a re-occurring theme with you, as was demonstrated to me again just before I banned you.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the first time I warned you about how to act as a bird, so I wont be referring back to that time. I do however, remember the second and more recent time I warned you. At that time, I had been observing you running around victory street, tormenting and goading a civil protection officer, weaving in and out the hedgerows and sweeping past them over and over. For this, I teleported you and spoke with you about how you should conduct yourself as a bird, adding it to the record as well.

On this occasion, I was in character in the makeshift clinic, sitting on a sofa, role-playing with a civil protection unit and a civil worker. During the interaction I was having with them at the time, you took it upon yourself to start moving a glass bottle through the three of us, reaching the edge of the sofa right next to me. At that moment, I stood up, going into observer and breaking character to identify you as a player. This didn't disrupt the role-play of the two other players at the time.

This is the first rule I believe you have broken is rule three. Refering back to what I have already said, running around on foot as a bird, antagonizing other players does not conform to any RP standard. As a result of doing so, the civil protection officer took it upon themselves to shoot and kill your character, after you landed on a lamp post. This defiantly disrupted their RP.

There have been two times in which I have noticed you breaking this rule. The second of which was today, durring an RP scenario at the makeshift clinic, inside the RDC. I first knew about a bird being present, when I heard your character make a noise, from presumably behind the curtain. A moment later, your came out from behind, pushing an empty glass bottle along, rolling it past the first two players and right up to the sofa, next to mine. In reality, I dont see why a bird ould allow itself to be in such a close proximity to people, leaving aside the idea of it being distracted by trying to get the remnants that remain inside. All characters were being vocal, meaning their voices would have spooked the bird somewhat.

This is the third rule you have broken. I have looked through the logs to find the first interaction I was unimpressed with, failing to find it and noticing a few, if not many more, occasions you went looking into a trash bin as the bird character. Im not entirely sure about how far this rule goes, when it comes to trashbins, as they have lids on them and would be difficult for a bird to open. I would be happy with disregarding this transgression, should someone else on the admin team help by correcting me. As a reference, here are a couple of screenshots from the logs.

firstly going to respond to this. I can recall exactly what happened first in this interaction with this officer. Another bird was on at this point and had pooped on this officer (I was not around for this).
I had just flow down to the street and was standing between the stairs to the RDC and the grate in the road. I was in thirdperson when I saw that officer start running at me and I flew away. Then, after talking with the other bird was when I did antagonize him a little, running around. I will admit to that, but I do not appreciate how you are attempting to make it seem like I antagonized them first.

And to this, I don't have screenshots, but being in first person as the bird the whole time, I actually could not see anyone when I was pushing the bottle around, and admittingly yes I would have heard the people, and I may have just not thought about that. After all, Burger is a city bird and is quite used to the sound of humans talking. IC there are quite a handful of human faces that have made a positive impression among Burger, and generally I've tried to play Burger more riskily by assuming most humans are as generous as the ones I have previously encountered, which I why I often interact with them as IC Burger is attached to certain restaurants and human social spots as he had been feed human food on multiple occasions in the same place by the same people. Such as if you give a dog some human food, they're going to keep coming back and back and back.

And to this last point, which honestly, as I'm being very critical of what you think I'm intending to do as a bird, I find that this last point you made is really the only one that holds any leverage. I'm going to be honest here and say outright that I apparently was not aware of this rule. (Yes, I had read the rules of Birds and Headcrabs about three times in the past few weeks, and I must've forgot about this part.)

My only explanation to this is that I often do a /me when searching a garbage bin, or rather more often, and I actually do this every single time whether anyone is around or not, I have made a habit of doing "/me searches the human trash for any nesting materials" whenever I search through trash as Burger to find wooden sticks.
I often don't do the same every time I search through a container, but I can definitely recall having done some "/me dives into the bin to search for ect ect ect." in the past.

you took it upon yourself to start moving a glass bottle through the three of us, reaching the edge of the sofa right next to me.
And in a shorter response to this, do not think this was intentionally to get between you all, because it wasn't. IC and OOC I had no interest of being part of your trio there. Moving a bottle around by walking into it is hard and often it makes you walk over it or the bottle goes flying, and I happened to push into it and it kept going so I just went with it.

I appreciate the quick response from you.

As I have outlined already, I feel as though your RP when using the bird character is not quite up to par as with the rest of your characters. I understand what your saying about your bird being a little more confident with human characters and the can be something I over look. However, where I mentioned the fact that you had been antagonising another player, or gouding them into reacting against you in an ill manner, will still stand in my opinion. The reason for this is that if you as a player, feel as though someone is targeting you unnecessarily, you should make a ticket informing an admin about it and avoid upsetting the matter further, by "antagonize him a little". At the end of the day, that's what we are here for.

And in a shorter response to this, do not think this was intentionally to get between you all, because it wasn't. IC and OOC I had no interest of being part of your trio there. Intention or not, you took it upon yourself to move into the scene, pushing a bottle. In your words, Moving a bottle around by walking into it is hard. You also mentioned that on occasion, your would walk over it, or the bottle goes flying. Had the bottle actually gone flying, into myself or someone else's character, it could have caused them to sustain damage, or in the worst case a prop kill. Being in a confined space, perhaps this wasn't the best choice to make.

and I happened to push into it and it kept going so I just went with it
Just going with something doesn't mean that it should be continued. If this mentality was to be a blanket covering for all RP scenarios, I feel that there would be a whole lot of arguments between players and possibly staff as well, which is why we have a set of rules for each type of situation, or all that a feasible and reasonable enough to hold them. I suggest you to think a little more about the actions you choose to make IC in the future, as falling onto this ideology can inherently create problems, perhaps larger ones depending on the situation.

I will wait for a response from a second admin and get their feedback based on whats been written down thus far.

<Edit> Appologies, as I didnt take this into account on the first two reply's I made and have fitted this in here.

Unfortunately, I had already spoken to you about your conduct as a bird on two previous occasions, giving you plenty of warning about what you can or cannot do when playing as a bird character and personally hoping you would take what I had said into account. I have a bird character myself, so no I dont have a problem with others playing as that character, should they wish to do so. In my opinion, interactions between birds and humans should be kept to a minimum, as I have previous stated.

First want to reply that the bottle propkilling simply wouldn’t be possible. You can physgun a bottle of that size into a player full speed and cause them no damage.

I feel like we got a little off topic talking about our other interactions about how I’ve played as my bird character, and that is both our faults.

I still believe that this ban is a hot take as what constitutes as properly roleplaying isn’t exactly defined by fact but ones impression and opinion of it. If there was any problem, I believe I would have been very aware of it, and I believe that no one else had any problems at all. And to that, the officer present actually started to engage and RP with me.
