A few pointers for those that doubt us.

They really do not understand how we function do they?
The way we hunt, we survive under their noses?
Take it from me, someone who's lived here for years under their noses.
We have privileges that the loyalists do not. And I will list them here.

1. We do not suffer a food shortage similar to them.

2. Resources are plentiful where we roam and inhabit. This includes barter supplies and the like.

3. We have the freedom to unite as we see fit. We are not forced to do anything, we can simply exist. But be aware, being lazy is not tolerated by us. Our survival... Requires action from all of us. We are not like loyalists, we do not sit on our assess and let our food come from some machine.

4. With the assistance of all that we have at our disposal. We are able to hunt antlions. Headcrabs, other xenian life. Contrary to what many may tell you, antlion meat may not taste great, but it is filling and has no long lasting health effects.

5. Our lives are in our own hands. We choose to fight for the freedom of the human race. But this does not mean we harm our fellow citizens. Loyalists are just as deserving of our food should we have some to share. Or even our water. They are still human, but you need to be careful of them. They will report you if you show them that you are part of fringe elements as they call us. A fitting name perhaps.

6. As many of you know, Overwatch can be killed off. I have killed a few in my time. Even killed one in hand to hand combat, broke my arm as a result. But they are not to be underestimated. Their augmentations make them better versions of us in every possible way. They will run after you till their legs break and will continue running after. They will hunt you unless called off. They are obedient soldiers, perfect soldiers if you will. But they lack adaptability. Exploit them where you see fit. Pressure them when you have to.

7. The civil protection are human just as we are. If you can, show them compassion if you take them prisoner. But execute their higher ups. They are easily seen by their red shoulders. Sometimes unique masks. They are far too brainwashed to be given a chance at continuing. But then again, saving a life is always better then taking one. I leave it to you, but do not get yourself killed over them. That is to say. As shown recently they have a reactionary force. Do not spare them at all costs. If you have to, execute every single one. They are considered High value targets as their training is extremely specialized and their main reason for existing is to kill you.

8. The MAA.. They are soldiers, naturally. Well trained, i would know. I used to be one of them. They are dedicated, and in numbers? A force to be reckoned with. But. They are similar to civil protection. They are human, meaning they have morale. If you ever face a group of them, there is a good chance they will have Overwatch nearby. If you take the risk you perhaps could capture them if you kill the Overwatch. Remember as i said earlier. Saving a life is always better. And having MAA on your side? Well... That means you have trained soldiers with you. People who spent months in training camps full of discipline. But as always, remember you need to give them something they need, and in return they'll give you something you need. They will not join us willingly.

That is all for now. I will continue writing for as long as I am able to. I will perhaps additionally provide pointers for those within the city and for those who wish to explore the outskirts and I have spent a long time outside of the city. I know my way around things.

Till next we speak.

A few pointers for those that doubt us

Your "pointers" contain misinformation designed to mislead the general population, you appear to be trying to turn people against each other during a time of strife for your own selfish reasons.

I have also noticed that you refer to the Universal Union as "they", almost as if you are afraid to say their name, I wonder why.

1. We do not suffer a food shortage similar to them.
While this is correct, you forget to mention that you are only feeding a small community, the Union feeds the globe utilizing multiple advanced agricultural zones, if you are under the impression that your sewer hunting will be able to feed anything more than a small community, you are mistaken.

2. Resources are plentiful where we roam and inhabit. This includes barter supplies and the like.
The resources you speak of aren't yours, they belong to the Union, without the Union you wouldn't have these supplies. You venture into the city, collect your rations and you use UU currency to purchase things from UU stores, you then use the supplies you buy from the UU to fund your efforts in indignant. Without the various UU groups, you would have nothing, all you would have is whatever xen infested trash you find in the sewers, which won't be enough on its own.

3. We have the freedom to unite as we see fit. We are not forced to do anything, we can simply exist. But be aware, being lazy is not tolerated by us. Our survival... Requires action from all of us. We are not like loyalists, we do not sit on our assess and let our food come from some machine.
Freedom comes at a price, if you ever manage to form any sort of civilization you will soon find that you will need to take people's freedoms away to keep everyone safe. Laws and rules restrict you, they may take some of your freedoms away, but they are not without reason. All civilizations have had laws and rules for all of history, you can't have a civilized society without laws just like you can't have a game without rules.

The laws the Union imposes upon you are more strict than the laws of the old world, but understand that this isn't without reason. the entire planet is infested with all sorts of alien life, Headcrabs, antlions, leeches, and all sorts of creatures capable of quickly killing humans, it is because of that that the rules have to be more strict, people need to be kept in line so everyone can stay alive.

Humans are naturally selfish, they will do whatever it takes to ensure their own well-being, even if it comes at the cost of the well-being of others. If everyone was altruistic and put each other above themselves, we would live in a perfect world, but that is unrealistic. Humanity is made up of individuals with their own ideals and goals, expecting everyone to get along without having to enforce rules is a dream none of us will achieve.

4. With the assistance of all that we have at our disposal. We are able to hunt antlions. Headcrabs, other xenian life. Contrary to what many may tell you, antlion meat may not taste great, but it is filling and has no long lasting health effects.
You put the lives of yourself and others on the line to hunt bugs and parasites in the sewers, tell me, how often do people die in the sewers? Pretty often I would assume. The Universal Union has better ways of supplying food to the population, and these methods do not put lives at risk, how often do you think someone would die working on a farm?

I respect that you show mercy to loyalists, and it is for that reason that I will give you some advice; Showing mercy to your enemy is dangerous, and it is a mistake the Union doesn't make. If you are unwilling to make tough choices like this, there is no way you will ever win this conflict.

Of course, anything that's alive can be killed, and you are right about everything *except* for their lack of adaptability, Humans are incredibly adaptive, and the OTA are still human.

Again, I respect that you want to show mercy to prisoners, but doing that puts yourselves and the rest of your community at risk. Thinking that you will be able to convince any of the civil protection to help you after you take them prisoner and kill their friends is very unrealistic, they will turn on you the second they get the chance. Imagine if you were captured by the civil protection and they asked you if you wanted to be an informant, would you willingly go against everything you stood for at the drop of a hat or would you take the first chance you get to run away?

8. But as always, remember you need to give them something they need, and in return they'll give you something you need. They will not join us willingly.
Admitting to being a traitor is never good, it shows that your loyalties lie with you and you alone, I wouldn't trust someone that used to be a terrorist but switched sides.

Once more you want to try to show mercy, and once again my response is the same, they will turn on you the first chance they get, the loyalists, MAA, and civil protection have good reasons to not betray the Union.

The only people that would willingly join you are those with a strong hatred of the Union and nothing left to lose, and why would someone like that be a loyalist, CP or an MAA soldier? They wouldn't.

Closing statement:

Your idealistic goals are going to be your downfall, the world isn't sunshine and rainbows. Humanity would never fully unite without being forced to, the Union is here to do just that. Humans will always bicker and fight with each other, we need laws to keep people in line, and perhaps then we can live in peace.

Interestingly enough a note is posted middle of the night.

Concerned loyalist... A surprise really for any of those who actually wish to respond to my notes, I am unsure why you did this but it gives me a reason to write another.

I respect my fellow humans, i have seen the horrible things we do to each other. Even if I am part of the resistance. We are two sides of the same coin. The union has their perks, technology mostly. Their ideals are similar to that of the nazi regime during the second world war. Eradication or assimilation of the human race. Death has become common place. When it comes down to it. I realized while MAA, that the union is using humans to do as we always did. Kill each other. We eradicate our own race for the combine as a whole. I have seen what they write of us on their networks. I am savvy with combine tech enough to know my way around it and gather information at any terminal I can. I seen many things that... Would make any loyalist realize the combine are for lack of a better word. Evil. At least subjectively. I am a member of the resistance. My duty is to pave the way for the future of the human race. A future where we are not just echos in the night, assimilated into becoming what the combine want us to be.. Have you ever thought about it? Those gunships... Transports. They show visible signs of augmentation, we've shot them down before, killed these creatures the combine utilize. Is this the destiny of the human race? To become another tool to this empire that decided to invade our home planet?

Think about it.... Concerned Loyalist. We are the human race, we will not fade quietly into the night no matter how many wish us to do so. We are resilient. We exist purely out of spite for everything. My goals are not idealistic. As sad as it is to say. My goals are simply my own. I wish to have children one day. I wish to live a life perhaps with a white picket fence. I refuse to have a child under the combine reign. For that child may as well be as dead as i am in the hands of these alien bastards. The union is not our way out. Their technology is advanced. But we have people who utilize it daily, people who repurposed it. Learn to hack it. All of this at our disposal. Had my hand not been forced to join the resistance, I perhaps never would have. And would have remained part of the MAA. But i preserve my life, for if I cannot do that, then I cannot save others. I wear this red cross because I truly believe what I do is right..

So tell me.. Concerned. Do you truly believe the union is what is best for the human race? The ones who wish to remove our planets resources, eradicate our race? Turn us into another tool for their rapidly expanding empire? Remove our individuality? Because believe me.. Your end goal of your... Loyalism... Is becoming a Soldier. To fight and die for their conquest. I do not fear my death unlike most loyalists. I am not fanatical, but when i chose to run. I made peace with myself, I am willing to die for what I believe is right.

Are you?

Dear Concerned. If you are so inclined I would love to hear back from you, perhaps assist me in giving pointers in surviving the combine and not being killed by them.. Do not issue propaganda. I simply wish to help those who cannot make a life as a loyalist. Survive in the hell that is these cities. Where one wrong move could cut your life short.

With care.
