Steam Name: ceras
SteamID:
STEAM_0:1:118165856

Name of the Admin you were banned by:
@SifTheAI on behalf of @Gr4Ss
How long is the ban for?:
permament
The reason you were banned?:
Exploit of the credits system, alting.
Why do you wish to be unbanned?:

I don't know what to explain here at all. I was banned suddenly, without any warnings or inquiries from the administration. I did not exploit the credits system, personally I have no clue how it even should look. And the alting? This must be mistake.
Could you provide for me any kind of evidence/proof? What am I supposed to refer to at all? Give me some screenshots/logs, please, if you don't mind and I will refer to them in a comment. What exactly is the problem?

Do you have any picture or video evidence to support your reason?:
No.

Were there any witnesses who can help in this appeal?: (List the steam and/or character names of them or tag them)
???

This ban was retroactive for things 2 weeks ago that we only just discovered in the logs. The offense was severe enough for us to retroactively ban for it.

Evidence as to what is going on here:

That's a lot of different people sending your character money, mighty suspicious if you ask me. Especially as they are all coming from the same Steam ID: 76561199291465491, steamname 'x]' (second column in the screenshot).

So... for completeness sake:

Jerald Quincy Junior definitely is your character (your steamid is in the last column).

Now I did some digging into 76561199291465491 who is clearly sending your character credits from multiple characters. Well, not just multiple characters, but multiple characters made in quick succession (and deleted afterwards; as indicated by the character ID in the third column). Why would anyone do such a thing? Is he an OOC friend of yours? And lo and behold, my alt catcher once again shows its value. There's an extremely good indication (several, actually) that this is an alt of yours.

Does that ring a bell?

This is not my alt account, idk what did your catcher show but it's a bit weird. This player is not any of my OOC friends. I see that the credits transfers were during the i17 event, so I tried to remember anything and I had a conversation with some people then about credits and someone offered to help me ICly (?), perhaps, if I remember that correctly, but I can't recall the name of the character if were even introduced or the player. But I wasn't aware that it was the 'illegal' process, let's say, especially that I was the new player on the server when the event was and I had no clue how does the scripts, plugin and economy works on Willard. If the transfer really looked like on the logs then you are right, that's suspicious, a lot.
It seems that I was some kind of 'victim' of this player. Could you check if the credits transfers were only for my characters or there's other 'victims' of such procedure? I don't know what to think about it, I only have one thought in my head - wtf? Some kind of troll?

  1. The account connected on the server with an IP your forum account used on the same day.
  2. The account and your account connected on the server with the same IP within a day.
  3. It's the same GMod installation with extremely high certainty (as in I'm more likely to be hit by lightning in the next five minutes than that this was 2 different GMod installs).

It's impossible that the IP were the same, eventually by a very strange coincidence, they could be similar, if at all. Did u check well?
And the same GMod installation? What does it mean? Could you explain? I don't get it from a tech side.

Okay then,

1) Same IP on server, within 48 hours - but likely less than that as the time is the last seen time and thus may get updated if you join multiple times. Exact same IP.

2) Same IP on forum and server, same day. Exact same IP.

Similar IP's but not exactly the same I would have ignored. These are exact matches within an extremely short time interval - having a dynamic IP at home doesn't explain it away. And really this is just extra confirmation for the 3rd point.

3) As to the gmod installation, I'd rather not divulge the technical details. We do have some tracking and fingerprinting in place to be able to uniquely identify you beyond your steam id, so simply logging out of steam and logging back in with another account doesn't work to bypass bans. The exact flag you triggered has astronomically low chances of producing a false positive (I'd even say it is the most reliable indication of alt accounts on the same PC).

I'll leave it up to @Leudoberct what to do here, but from my end I see little reason so far for us to give you much leeway here. You got caught, with very conclusive evidence.

Idk, I can only add that in my tower block I use ADSL internet and the IP changes from time to time, but I don't want to get into technical details, because I have no clue about how does it work. Let it be as you say. I will not argue further, but the whole situation surprised me a lot.

Let @Leudoberct decide what to do with me.

For my part, if you find me guilty, as this evidence suggests, allow me to make a refund atleast and return to me £15 for the freshly purchased Galunga Prince. I didn't put my money into this server yesterday so as to say goodbye to it forever.
Or atleast give a chance to do something or let's talk about changing the penalty, unless your rules consider what I was banned for as a very serious violation. It's just a game though.
It's all really strange, in my opinion I was not at fault. I feel scammed a litte, but have it your own way.
I fell victim to actions made by another player. However, maybe we should try to contact him?

I have full trust in Gr4ss' ability to vet and conclude who is responsible with the use of the logging tools at his disposal. This seems to be a clear cut case, and I see no reason to believe that this was somebody else based on the evidence he has given.

This appeal is denied. Contact Atle if you want to try to refund your donator.
