Business cards are an effective and efficient way of exchanging contact information at an affordable price, and I believe that RP between Combine-oriented factions, as well as crafty members of the Resistance (see Pros 2 and 3) can be improved with their addition, with little being taken from the RP experience from it. You should be able to have the option to buy a set of blank business cards from a store, fill them out, and exchange them with people you do business with frequently or otherwise will perhaps do business with in the future.
These cards could have the following lines of information on it for the buyer to fill out:
• Name
• CID
• Phone number (when the Phone Update drops)
• Website (if people can host websites in the Intranet Update)
• Primary Occupation (e.g. DoB, CWU, CMU, etc.)
• Secondary Occupation (e.g. BRI or L.A.)
Given that these would likely be a 1x1 item - collecting many of them would take up a lot of space after a while, so I would like to make an additional suggestion within this one where you could purchase an item that holds business cards only - much like how cigarette packs only hold cigarettes. The item in question could be anything from a binder to a wallet, and would likely be sold under the Tools & Storage permit as well as the Writing permit. In addition, cards which all read the same thing could perhaps be stacked up to eight at a time - allowing you to carry your own business cards to exchange with other people.
Buying a business card will have it be blank, but right clicking on it while it is in the inventory will bring up a small menu in which all of the aforementioned criteria can be filled in, with perhaps an additional option to change what design the business card has - one for each of the major Combine Factions (CWU, CMU, BRI, DoB, CCA, etc.). After the criteria is filled in for the business card it can not be edited again by anyone. If the business cards are stackable, editing a stack of blank cards edits all of them at once rather than having to retype the same information over and over again.
Pros
• Meeting a new person can be much more personal than just F3'ing them.
• These cards can be given to another person or lost - allowing for some RP scenarios involving someone other than the original holder using the contact information gained or just returning the card when you find that person.
• They can be deliberately used in misdirection in criminal investigation (such as dropping a business card made by someone else at a crime scene) or otherwise secretly identifying another person if a card has a certain formatting.
• Useful for people who do not possess PDAs but want to keep in touch with certain people.
Cons
• Can already be done in RP with pieces of paper.
• More inventory clutter than just using the Personal Notes section in the F1 menu.
• Less uses for rebels and citizens than for Combine-employed factions, as CIDs and full names aren't as necessary for the former.
