Problem with this idea is that if you're a rebel player and your container moves you're shit out of luck, forcing rebels to have 4 containers, one per map, in order to keep what they need for rebelling.
I guess weapons could be easier to obtain to balance it out, not entirely sure

I think what you want to see here is kind of weird. Each new iteration of City 24 has been presented thus far IC'ly as a 'reconstruction' and thus a modification to the current setting; equally OOC'ly each iteration is considered to be an 'improvement' over the previous; take V1/V2 for example which is basically just long empty streets that demand functional vehicle addons (please do not use them ever I seriously hate how they look and play).
What you're suggesting to me is that we swap back and forth between each superseded rendition of the map for the sake of variety. I don't see this accomplishing anything but making us hate City 24 even more and a constant reminder of why we moved on from these older versions. I can see people straight up refusing to play over a certain map structure, and if they know it'll swap out in 1-2 months, they'll just quit until the map changes to the one they prefer (V1/2 vs V3/4 since the differences between each pair aren't that different really).

Honestly, we should just get used to using maps that don't have the willy server brand.

the only maps that you could reasonably switch between and say they're different parts of the same city are

V1/V2 - upper-class district area
V3/V4 - lower-class slummy area
district 8 - city 8 reskin

THAT said differing from my last comment, the survey shows there's a clear want for map variation!

Made a community vote to get a feel how comfortable ppl are to leave containers behind (we can't transfer them cross-map) so you'll only be able to bring what you can carry (we wont refund them across maps as that's a huge hassle).

HOWEVER! If we did this we'd need to VERY careful what maps to pick from, some only work short-term (city 8 is a prime example here and is usually best suited for events)

City 8 is an excellent map. Just bad server owners that use the most recent versions that have an Outlands and don't restrict it, which leads to the server population cannibalizing itself from two divided sides (city vs rebels).
It's very concise. If done well, even a 20 player server can feel like it's bustling with activity.

Gonna necropost this with a bit of food for thought.

What would the narrative be as we traverse the different districts? Would every single character be transferred between the different iterations? What would the justification for this be, should that be the case? If it isn't the case; who gets to stay and who gets to go? How will it be monitored if people obey these restrictions?

I love the idea of having the city at a larger scale with multiple districts, but I do not see it as technically nor IC'ly / Narratively feasible at the moment until we get the update working (which is probably far into the future) that links multiple servers together (Cross-server plugin).

Just an idea, but I would assume that ICly the workforce around the city would just rotate from place to place sort of like how citizens in HL2 are constantly relocated.

How is that not realistic, you're basically moving workers around to the next neighborhood for a job, it's literally an everyday commute

Because you'll be moving everyone around. Even those that are not citizens.
You could make an argument that the CPs perhaps are in charge of a specific batch, no matter which district they're in, but then comes the issue of never meeting anyone new. The other districts will be completely void. Of new shops, new people - it's the same old copy as your entire district just transfers over into a ghost town.

An everyday commute doesn't typically consist of moving to another place and staying there for months at a time, along with your entire neighbourhood
