Aux Units shouldn't patrol the slums often.

So, this is something I've noticed and I'd say a lot of other players have as well.
These Aux units, all be are cool are kind of RP killing for slum rp, and rebel rp. Hear me out.
These Aux units, are basically OSF except they are CP, some of these guys are more equipped then civil protection, on a small amount that is, one of which has a revolver, one having a double barrel. But that's a whole another complaint for another day. The Aux units patrol these slums more then actual CP's I've noticed, just today I witnessed around 10 or 12 sweeps by Aux units alone, only 5 of which I noticed had a actual CP (I-E only one or two cps). I get these guys are cannon fodder, but seeing how they have hand made weaponry, and one having a modern weapon doesn't seem that way at times, I'm not saying stop them from patrolling the slums, but make it extremely limited to either the outpost, or a limit on what weapons they can have.

There already is a pretty harsh limit on what weapons the auxiliary units are allowed to have, and they have to gather them all by themselves. The weapons they are allowed to keep, is only with permission and they're horrible guns in comparison to what rebels can have.

As for patrols, it's kind of the only thing the auxiliary units can do. They're not even authorized to prosecute people. You shouldn't have anything to worry about unless you're highly armed, and even then, odds are they'll run away instead of attacking you.

Just posting as the only written proof, although this is an IC message, of the hammering this issue has seen, a message on the day after recruitment, after induction. Every other time I have talked about this, I'd need the logs to retrieve.

Some more unconnected examples,
1665654046214.png

Every auxiliary unit, has been told IC, OOC, through the discord, through the server, through DMs, about a thousand times, and they've been told (and sometimes even threatened) with very disciplinary action, IC and OOC, if they are to actively seek and destroy experiences for their own benefit. In fact, day one they were explicitly told that they would be judged on RP quality and disposition, not 'victories', 'achievements' or similar. They are likely to confirm this. After all, this sub-faction was designed with failure in mind.

@HOKI can also confirm OOC faction rules are both strict and fairly surveilled when it comes to these things.

That said, @Donavin Jones if you want to reach out to me about who you think might've breached these "general courtesy" clauses let me know over DMs or in this very post and I will adress it. I have sadly been inactive for the first time in Willard due to personal reasons, and might've missed a thing or two about them.

I'm pinging some of them at random (so not everyone is meta'd) well in case they want to say anything about this matter in light of these happenings. @Cocohop @Freudek @Neonity @Sync. I also encourage other non pinged auxes to join in the conversation and prove/disprove what we've both said.

Now onto your comment,
These Aux units, are basically OSF except they are CP,
I can see where the comparison comes from but the OSF is an unmentionable spawn of the devil for military LARPers who play in a completely different server (and thank god for that).

some of these guys are more equipped then civil protection, on a small amount that is, one of which has a revolver, one having a double barrel.
This is completely untrue, btw. Their armor is worse both from an IC and OOC standpoint (if existant at all), their gear is non-functional, they have no PDA, no HUD, no meds, no ammunition, no repair plates, no access to records, cameras, or any of the devices that give the CP the edge in battle. They are only issued a stunstick. They are well informed on what they might be able to carry or not - if some of these units wish to 'break the rules' and carry higher weaponry while supervisors aren't looking, it's on them. Equipment check-ups and such are a thing.

I find it particularly hilarious you complain about these two weapons in particular (they've scavenged them off a dead rebel, I think), considering half of the slums characters have x4 times the armour and x5 the damage, not to mention the area advantage - I won't say you're getting served your own medicine because there are, atm, 12 auxiliary units and you only mentioned 2 of them having a makeshift anything, but, yeah. If they're grinding their arses out to get supplies, it pretty much just puts them on par with what YOU are able to do, anyway.

The Aux units patrol these slums more then actual CP's I've noticed, just today I witnessed around 10 or 12 sweeps by Aux units alone, only 5 of which I noticed had a actual CP (I-E only one or two cps).
Yes, that is exactly the point of the auxiliary detachment. Also, a 'sweep' is a break and entry kind of procedure, where people are detained, checks are made, and held at gunpoint. You forget Indigent patrols (which is what they do) were always a thing.

To point at the screenshots above, they've been promptly reminded not to be too intrusive. That said, I'd like to say something out of the bottom of my heart:
Most of you only use the slums as vehicle to the trash bags that spawn around. There is/was only one active roleplay hub in the slums, that being the Free Clinic. Most apartments in the slums are just defunct player 'bases' that cannot be raided or entered anyway because of convoluted rules. In my 3 months patrolling that with other, 'real' units, I've only seen that garage door bar open once. I think it's fairly dishonest to everyone in the conversation to say "aux units are killing rebel RP" when you (mostly) already kinda killed it on your own beforehand, alongside the shitty systems that go around with it.

I have also heard people complain about 'the plaza' being 'empty' after the aux units got released, as if everyone wasn't just burning through filters in the underground bar beforehand and letting city RP rot in hell. I think you're deflecting the problem.

I have faith in the current recruitments' roleplay capabilities, OOC - or rather, in most of them, anyway. From what I have been told by everyone else they are behaving correctly, getting good development, and being victims of unnecessary OOCly targetted hate by people who really don't know what they're talking about. And I'm sorry to say this but it does sound like you don't know what you're talking about.

Either way your concerns are valid - again, I insist. If you find people have been not doing what I said in this post, feel free to reach out to me, in this post or DMs. I don't need "proof" or any of those stupid stuff others ask about, your word will be enough - but expect to be held to it if it proves untrue.

What is important is the enjoyment of the factions involved, to me. Auxes were conceived to be corrupt and vulnerable, and actually give you stuff to do, be it for setting them as easy targets and loot, or as a way to get supplies and information onto the CP by 'befriending' them and dealing with them behind the curtains. To add, they've also been kept in the dark about a lot of mechanics, for them to discover on their own, experiment, rather than being "lol-trained" like most CPs are on induction. It is much more of a sandbox, creative faction than a strict 'soldier-like' demanding life like the real Civil Protection is.

If it isn't going as planned, I'm willing to get the faction leads to help me pull some brakes, but I need a little bit more than just an OOC clash of interests ('they are a potential risk to my lackluster behaviour so I hate them' OOC kinda beat) - which is what this, and the recent incident concerning CP-4 illustrate.

And feel absolutely free to clap back, get filterless - don't be afraid to call out people, myself included. I want to hear what you have to say. It'd be foolish to outright dismiss this.

I'd chime in with my own opinions but ive also been inactive for most of my time as an aux cause I happened to get covid right as i got accepted lmao. For the time I was active I would always make sure we adhered to the rules on being outside in the CZ (no more than four at a time, preferably not a huge clump of four either). And im fairly sure all the other auxes also adhered to that rule, so maybe if it's still stifling players in the slums we should lower it even more (two at a time, maximum patrols per hour? I don't know if that'd leave auxes with literally nothing to do lmao)

The reason auxes are equipped the way they are is because they dont have as tight restrictions on scavenging/trading/crafting. The main restrictions kick in based on what they're allowed to keep and what they aren't allowed to keep. If there's a specific weapon you have a problem with them wielding it should be an easy enough solution to just ban the ownership of that sort of weapon (assuming it doesnt cause another shitstorm with the player you're trying to disarm..)

Most of the patrols have been by three people, myself, 77 and 92.
All 3 of us are armed (I'm the revolver girl) but we gathered all those ICly. In fact, we may have even purchased some from the black market 👀 who knows.

My question to you is : what kind of RP are we killing?

When there are people chatting in the housing block, we don't just go searching them one by one. Trust me, I don't intend to have my character die.
We don't camp sewer entrance, and I've said this to others OOCly because people complain.
So.... Is the kind of RP we are killing the 'Walk around slums with big gun looking cool'? Because perhaps that's a good thing.

Im 46... I've been RP'ing very Little with my aux due to some IRL bad timing and IC circumstances that make sense...

I've done like... a grand total of 3 CZ patrols or so, only the first one we caught someone leaving IZ into CZ-5 (which I was told REPEATEDLY to almost AVOID at all costs, only reason we stopped there that one time was due to a guy who we ended up searching due to suspicious behaviour that just so happened to be there due to bad timing)

We took him to the AUX base, he used his bandana to mask his cough and then threw it away as if it was a rag, which none of us rolled to try and see out of a bit of good faith to him, he already got caught no need to fuck the guy over for a piece of cloth.

When I Re-Educated him (after asking permission of a real CP to do it, otherwise I wasn't allowed if he refused) I went as far as to RP hitting him with with a stun baton turned off, which means he receive a grotesque 8 points of dmg, essentially making downtime non existent, he also lost nothing in the search other than the bandana he got rid off.

The other 2 were entirely uneventful and we zoomed past CZ-5 to let movement occur there also avoiding interrupting people speaking with one another in the slums at any and all cost, maybe trying to had a small comment here and there but not staying around long.

Whenever we did stop to speak between one another in CZ we did so in the LEAST cumbersome spots possible that had multiple ways to be bypassed by various other routes.

I havent played that much so I don't have that much to add besides what I wrote, but I'd like to be told if what I did is ''opressive to rp''... Did I do anything incorrectly here? I genuinely think I was as forgiving as a possibly could.

Has for the weapons complaint? All weapons we got were either made by us, confiscated by us in searches, or mayhaps other shady or otherwise creative methods to get them, the old revolver (Popper) is the HIGHEST tier weapon an aux can have, anything below is entirely makeshift and basically outclassed by any weapon the average rebel as extreme ease of access to.

Hey I am 77, the only time we really do any searches is either because there have been a shooting, you a suspect or you leaving or entering the slums(which is rare).

Me and the rest of the AUX never attempt to actively go after slum citizens inside CB-3(where most of the RP is) cause of suspicion and always go after obvious crimes(holding a weapon, wearing a mask, dealing contraband, insulting the combine and so on).

We do not carry better weaponary than any of the Tag units unless they are a recruit. All weopanry is scavanged somehow and we are restricted on what we can use, making us never stronger than the rebels.

I'd say you're legitimately and realistically capable of outperforming the rebels, though. Aside from the fact that your faction is "allowed to keep & make certain weapons and gear for themselves," this kind of insinuates a game-breaking aspect with a rule-break in and of itself that would never happen with actual Combine present.

And given that creating weapons or other items sounds really useful for doing your job, it also sounds ridiculously illegal by itself and (imo) presents some backward logic, because technically it would be outside the scope of your jurisdiction (you literally need less social credit than a standard loyalist to apply to be a part of Aux) than you would be realistically entitled to. Other than that, it sounds like the faction is gonna have those early-concept symptoms of it being softened out even further but maybe that's just me.

On paper we 'Find' these weapons, confiscate them from the street and then use them.
Us creating firearms is illegal. Although some have done so... 'Allegedly'. 😎.

Although the Broker sells SVDs and your Tier 1 Kevlars (which ANY group has) outperforms our body armour so...? Who are we better than? Individual rebels? For sure. Organised resistance? No.

Yeah, you just can get yourself an AK-74. If you overpower an unwatching Rebel. If I were Aux. I would literally arrest a Rebel, knowing he has equipment, but not equipped. Take his shit and leave him alone, he is not my problem anymore. I just want that gun

Its as illegal for Aux units to carry an AK As it is for a rebel (we get killed)

I think a lot of it stems from quality control on who was given positions within the Auxillary. Rules are set in place; however, due to the quality provided by specific units, it's painted the entire program with one brush as some of them believe they are exempt or just don't care about what's set in place, With some examples of units aiming only to win, or an instance that I had experience with eight units, sat outside of the exit stairs from the sewers waiting with pre-written /me's to stop and capture whoever was unlucky enough to exit that area.

I don't think anything needs to be changed within the program, but an improvement in screening and people roleplaying actual characters rather than an ideology of cops versus robbers.

This is false. Auxiliary Units are heavily restricted on what they are allowed to use. Aux units are essentially budget Civil Protection, so they get the worst of everything while anything good goes to the actual CP units. This includes AKMs.

First off heck you. second off. Its actually a legitimate faction in willard lore. Which.. Does serve a purpose in the city and rebel rp. As they are the main force most expeditions WILL encounter, and should we make it far enough. the OSF will be the primary force in the canals towards the outlands in the planned multi server deployment. But I digress. Sadly with the loss of several major staff. OSF is becoming stagnant again and we may just be folded into civil protection and or overwatch as a whole. (barring those who have blacklists)

Regardless as a whole the AUX units are kinda okay? While also at the same time being very bad. They have a lot of freedom but it is understandable that they patrol constantly which causes rebels to basically dip out because you can't really move around like you used to without getting your shit stolen by an auxillery unit. This can be solved easy peasy by having an armed escort but thats always the risk of dealing with CP's you don't want a light armed escort protecting your scavengers while risking a CP rolling up and actually rocking your shit with a fucking assault rifle or some shit.

my kin... i am sorry to say this, and i say it with love, but no voice of reason will make me not hate the play pretend real life soldier faction.

(my issues are more from certain people within the faction)

I understand that completely honestly but. Its better for OSF to be a thing. As it sits, city rp is boring, everyone knows it nobody wants to admit it. All the shops are dead. I tried to start a shop. DoB faction is fucking dead, the people that are active, are completely unable to start up new stores. Because management is fucked or theres like 1 manager left thats always offline. Citizen rp just doesn't exist anymore, OSF serves as a way for people to actually do citizen rp shit while also not having to suffer on the main server for boredom. So in a way sure it's great for what it is but i agree some people in the faction are kinda shit.

this entire thread was bait to rile CP players and get them to admit how easy it is to kill aux cops... and you all fell for it.............

Better idea: strictly prevent aux units from operating in areas like victory, etc so stuff like this doesn't happen (if this IS aux units, I mean. if it isn't, then my bad-- though, considering the guy says "letting the baton units...", then I assume it is them)

I adore the idea of auxiliary units, everything about it is a chef's kiss IMO and from what I've seen they've been handled really well. however, 15 civil protection for one guy with a sharpened knife? Of course, I'm not saying the dude should've been able to run amuck, but personally having this gigantic mass of people all for this little stuff seems a little overwhelming. Since there's such a major influx of these baton-wielding maniacs, I feel like stuff like this will become a frequent problem if not taken care of.

I believe CPs should strictly operate in victory and Willard, while aux handles triumph and slums. It'd make everything much more simpler and spreads out the two much more nicely.

this was quite literally a one-off cathartic mingefest on day 1 that never occurred again. aux units are only allowed in triumph and indigent normally and entering victory & beyond without express permission is punishable
