I just accept the fact that everyone on this server acts goofy no matter the faction. Not necessarily bad, goofy shit happens all the time. Civil Protection behavior wise, they're doing okay. I don't see a lot of goofiness from them unless we're in our base or on downtime. Not really concerning to be honest. My only main concern is keeping the mingy behavior out and just all the obvious bad stuff (metagaming, toxicity, powergaming, purging rp, etc.) We have done well with this.
Now, a long while ago when Slovinski Jones was alive (Or, when Deliveries and Bottlesheet was a thing.) Cops were assholes, but I like that.
A bit ago, cops were not as mean as before. But as of recent, they have been real mean to us, especially vortigaunts. And I like that. Nice cops sort of break the immersion for me.
If I were to suggest a 'fun/goofy cop', one that's corrupt.
City 24 just has it too good. Hardly any criminal shit has happened so not much to do. With so much peace going on, who can really blame the CPs to be a bit peaceful too. The behavior can also be sorta blamed on the lack of evil-ish from Civil Protection leadership. Command can really influence the units with their behavior. Encourage the bully and harsh behavior. But that all kinda died down. I blame peace.
As for corruption like you suggested, again it just comes down to what makes them want to be corrupt. Especially considering the risks. Why be corrupt and get executed if found when you're doing so well without being corrupt? Conditions for CPs would need to be altered if you wanna see some more corruption.
There is a good and bad side to the recent changes in how the Civil Protection works fundamentally. Recently, promotions were switched up so that you don’t have to grind for a rank but roleplay for it instead. I enjoy and love that idea and am glad that it has been implemented, though on the other hand the RP has to be a certain way.
As of now, the only way you’ll necessarily get RP based promotions is if you become a generic evil villain character. It sounds good on paper, but there are a lot of CPs that will end up doing the same exact thing and acting the same exact way just for that supercool i4 armband. Now, don’t get me wrong Civil Protection should stay the generic evil villains they are I’m not complaining about that in particular, I am just hoping that the characters involved in the RP do it in an original, unique, and interesting way. Something that makes you go “Wow, this guy is an absolute asshole but I get where he’s coming from”, not “This guy is a complete fucking douchebag all for a promo, can’t wait to PK him”.
TL;DR I like the changes they made with promotions, though not everyone should be the same mustache-twiddling bad guy.
It's mostly just routine work and time that'll get them promoted. Just what every cop does regardless if they're being the evil mustache guy or just a guy trying to survive. I believe it all dials down to how well the unit RPs, how long it's been since their last promotion, how long their char has been around etc. that contributes to a promotion or not.
The City 51 event had the perfect mix of arrogant CP and actual human CP. I enjoyed being cornered by 5-CP with my friend just for them to leave us alone because we intended to fight them all off while pumped full of drugs instead of surrendering. Most CP in 24 don't care about the situation their in or going into, it's just shoot first, ask later. I saw it first hand when a rebel attempted to hold Ron Goodfella hostage in S2RP, but instead was just gunned down in TBC by CP and Ron Goodfella being shot in the process. I honestly don't even have a solution for it since either way people are going to complain. I'm not a CP myself, so I don't get to be personal with them as much as I would like, but I'm optimistic about how it might change.
I feel like this is more a bit opposite. CPs in 24 so far in my experience really do care about the situation they're in due to City 24 being the central hub of where their main character is. A character they put a lot of work into and aren't willing to lose them. Sometimes they do bomb rush into moments because they want that sweet sweet credits but with how promotions are changing that will probably change as well.
For that Ron Goodfella situation specifically, pretty sure the RL saw a chance to shoot the rebel and took it. Entering TBC, the rebels realized they were gonna die due to a swarm of CPs coming and so tried to take Ron down with them. CPs had the numbers/firepower and knew it so they had confidence and took the chance of overwhelming them. If it were in a s2rp scenario, would probably end differently.
And to make it more clear, both the scenarios you mentioned are different. I assume the team left you and your friend go because it's not really urgent for them to handle. Meanwhile Ron is urgent due to his vital role for the CCA/CPs so there is a sense of urgency as a highly value person is in-danger. And losing them might be consequential either to them or the role he serves.
I 1000% agree that s2rp needs to happen more if the other party has initiated it first, i am really dissapointed coming into the CP faction as an aux to find how many people will just disregard another person performing their action, click a bind and then go CS:GO mode
It's habit at this point. And to be honest, I don't blame them. Rebels tend to do the same thing. Especially when you're dropping into action. I've been in countless times of me writing a /me or typing in looc if they wanna go to S2RP but instead up in TBC immediately. So at this point it's who can ever click their bind first. All you can hope for is try to ask in LOOC asap and hope they agree to it.
This is a bit of a larger issue when it comes to combat, since a lot of people hate S2RP, anyway. I agree though, it needs to happen more in general. So one guy with a gun would actually have a chance against 5 people with melee, rather than him shooting them point blank in the face for 10 damage in TBC just to be met with several turns of melee attacks that kill you in literally 1-3 hits.
No one hates S2RP (or at least not as many as you think). As mentioned above, it's just a habit considering how central TBC is at this point. If people wanna go to S2RP, go for it. Just expect you might enter TBC first and might have to ask for an admin to assist in healing anyone damaged. That is if both parties accept going into S2RP.
And for anyone thinking about suggesting to remove TBC, Atle said no. Might change but who knows.
I saw that, I was the guy on the ground bleeding out which started the whole event, that entire thing was a bit of a mess but if I remember right the guy was just standing there and suddenly started getting shot, while it definitely made the moment a lot more memorable it probably would have been better if there was a bit more RP during that part.
Welcome to TBC hell!
While I’m here I’ll throw in my 2 cents, not as a CP but just as a general citizen player, I think CP’s should have an air of uncertainty around them, like you don’t know what they’re going to do next, like an equal chance of them beating you or letting you off with a warning, I’m unsure of how that’d translate to in-game action but it’s a concept I’d like to see.
Uncertainty is probably never gonna happen. Maybe not in daily street encounters but uncertainty definitely does come into play during interrogations. A beating is the norm from CPs. It's what you expect. If anything you might get surprised instead. Sometimes CPs do an unexpected thing like letting you go when you were certain of getting a re-education. It's pretty nice that way although rare.
Honestly, I agree with this as well, but I think that means cops should definitely try and me more of an actual character rather than “BadCop McGoon”
Matter of perspective. Citizens see the average bad cop on the street but behind the scenes in the Nexus, it plays out different. Of course CPs don't show that side of themselves to citizen as they could get in trouble. Usually done in private.
Cop behaviour thread no. 4551929.
It's impossible to change their behaviour, believe me I've tried so much
Just get better. L
