Hi all, I wanted to make this post to take the time to see what the community overall thinks of the District Nine event so far. We're two days in and stuff has happened. So...what are your thoughts?

I’ve main’d my loyalist character for a little bit and honestly I never knew loyalist rp could be fun. Interacting with other collaborators was pretty cool.

I also got accepted for Civil Protection and currently awaiting for my whitelist. I wanna get to experience how it feels to be a CP on main rather than an event, so hopefully it goes well.

It's an interesting experience for the bureaucratic heart of the city being a walk in community centre. Kind of nice, in some ways. Until the Riots start.

Not liking it so far. The places for rebels to hang out are always being raided by CP's or OTA, so there really isn't a designated rebel roleplay area like there was in City 24, unless I am missing it or its hidden. I was expecting the server to cordon off the slums area behind the giant wall just so rebels could have a place to roleplay at but that does not seem to be the case, CP's raiding it and killing everyone on sight. It's like if CP's had KOS permission for anyone in the slums in City 24, just ruins any opportunity to bring rebel RP.

I've also found the darkness on the map to be unplayable, especially in the outlands.

I'm sure the darkness thing will be fixed soon, but the slums area being lackluster is most concerning. I've not even logged onto my main rebel yet as there is no stashes to store my contraband that I have found.

We're sorting out the stormfox darkness as much as we can. Sorry about that. Turned out it was an overwritten feature, I turned it off.

I spawned inside a CP and he beat me up so 10/10 experience can't complain.

combine have fun killing bad guys during curfew meanwhile civs just stay in any available building doing nothing, and if you even try to get involved with events that happen during curfew, you'd get shot

dude got sent to the shadow realm

Just started playing again!

I play as Asa Hoshi, leader of Hoshi Clan.

Have had loads of fun recently leading a group into some semblance of prosperity. Map is small, but a good small, I don't see alot of people though.

I'm excited for the possibilities of the map, although I think people haven't gotten their bearings quite yet. For some reason the slums are totally deserted and people are sticking to the community center, which is cool.

Also, I am fine with people thinking the CP are too harsh and hovering over people. That is kind of a big point of HL2. Willard has had a very relaxed CP force for a long time, which has been explained away as "Well, it's City 24, it's a nice loyalist city."
Conflict generation is a much needed change, so get used to it.

People need to react accordingly in-character if they feel they are being searched or bothered too much. That is; collude with others to find spots where you can hang out without being pestered. There are plenty of nooks and crannies, many of which are hidden for people to discover

My thoughts on it are

LET ME LOAD INTO THE SERVER.
LET ME IN YOU BITCH.
WHY DO I KEEP TIMING OUT?

Didn't have much time to play through the new map yet, but my first impressions are that the citizens narrative from the blackout took a step back and now we're back to the usual directionless gameplay.
I took this as an opportunity to 'create roleplay for myself' and since I was almost killed by snarks on Friday I decided to go to the local clinic and say I had a bunch of nasty bites on my legs and needed a doctor to look over my bandages, but they just sent me off because "they couldn't do anything about it". How come the CMU are bouncing off any potential medRP because of whatever reason? these are the same guys I've read before complaining that there isn't much for them to do in the first place. It's retarded.
After that I just left the clinic and immediately crashed because the server is apparently rubberbanding hard these days.

With a couple days familiarity I can say my experience has largely been one thing...

Witnessing Chaos.

The CWU randomly gets its hands on unsecured boxes of Ammunition that is just sitting in drawer somewhere. The Director is beaten and just left on the ground to be potentially robbed. Busses explode and a corpse from it is just left outside of the Community Centre's only side entrance for 24 hours. Cops are beating people up and stealing their Collaborator belongings without checking their CID's. Zombies and Antlions are crawling from every little crack in the floor and chasing people. A sentient Mine said hello. A man is shot repeatedly and publicly next to me with an automatic weapon in a moment of culture shock.

I could go on. Some of this chaos is good, some of it is just bad enough to be good.

Having a cup of coffee in hand really enhances the experience.

Remove stormfox
Keep TBC off
Praise radio bob
Nuff said
TBC with emplacement guns and the armed vehicles is disaster waiting to happen. Also, killing npcs is way more enjoyable without tbc

Entrance to the Outlands isn't accessible, all Slum-areas are patrolled by CPs that will kill you if they see you. Not many scavenging spots, it's pretty much just a slaughter-house where all the civilians are kept inside of one tiny sector and grind the same 3 scavenging spots if they don't want to get slaughtered by CP Squads.

If anything id suggest opening up the other part of the city map through the tunnel forcefield maybe even get an Ic teleporter door if you ever get that mod implemented to connect it with the sewer in the other side of the city map without being forced to go through the checkpoint. And just make the outlands event only or approval area. That way rebels can setup their outposts in those buildings. And spread some lootable boxes throughout these areas. You now have two separate rebel zones the cops have to keep watch on. And enough areas to place Smugglers around too.
