Scions of the paradigm to save mankind.
Prized for their intelligence and relative mastery over portal technology, humankind was made subject to the whims of the Combine Empire.
The same cunning that saw man through the Stone Ages and other periods of strife will allow them to pass through this, too.
These are willing collaborators to the Combine's entrance on Earth amidst the Seven Hour War, diligently working to cement their people into the multiuniversal regime, for better or for worse.
Genuine in their altruism, everyone left after the tumults of raging Portal Storms was a valuable life to preserve. But they too understand the necessity of protecting the plan to bring true unification against those who would likely catapult the human race back along the cliff of extinction in their desires to war the Combine.
Those who are more suspect to rumors might mention that Wallace Breen was the first Combinite, followed by other similarly minded figures that were situated in the right place at the right time. Most would say that this cabal does not exist at all, that it is the abstractions of some superstition created in their histories' recent most hour, a joke, or something inbetween.
Needless to say, mannerisms have become synonymous with the Combinite idea, celebrated in each arm of the Combine's occupation on Mother Earth, acknowledged in the Civil Protection and general workforce. Even if it is subliminal.
