Character Wipes

Why when characters were wiped recently did they not give a warning ping?

It seems, at least from who has put in a refund form, two people have even bothered with having their characters refunded, my refund being one of them. So I doubt a drastic amount of people would have logged on to save their characters given the chance, still allowing the wipe to give a performance boost. Now there is just more work on admins to restore these two oddball cases.

It would have been much easier to warn people that characters who hadn't been touched in 6 months would be wiped so that people could log on to save their character and that way no one has to write a refund or help with a refund. Especially since there has been no immediate support to restore wiped characters. Although this only seems more of an issue to me personally because right around the time the wipe happened I was looking into continuing the story of my now wiped character, then he got wiped.

Been waiting a week now to have my character restored or at least a response since I'd like to continue playing on the server asap, and am not interested in creating a new character to play just to drop as soon as my character is restored.

tl;dr ping beforehand if you are going to wipe characters please

Hey Sev,

The wipe was done due to the amount of data that was on the DB, typically this is not a problem but with a game like Garry's Mod, it starts to cause some buggy behaviour as hasn't been done since the launch of V2. It does help the performance a little on the backend side of things, but that wasn't the main reason.

Have you gone in-game and made a to ticket to have your refund processed?

Was this something that needs to be done? I haven't received any response on my post in the refund section of the forums at all, so I don't think that is something that would apply to me yet.

It is recommended to create a ticket in-game to get the refund processed as staff won't keep an eye 24/7 on the scoreboard to see if a refundable person is online and sometimes will miss the actual refund thread. So like with any other refunds you'd open a ticket in-game and link the thread, it gets processed and set as complete on the forum. If that doesn't get you anywhere and believe you are purposely being ignored or so, then better to get in touch with NIXeighteen.

Okay, I will do this when I get a chance. You'd think this information would be pinned in the refund thread. Or at least I didn't see anything other than the format and another unrelated notice.

Well, the original refund form was made for older bugs related to containers getting wiped and so, but it's a good point. Will rectify it.
