I am very sorry, Aspect.

The one you decide to point out is the one that actually makes sense, i would have gone with the SRF, LFC, or the ESIC, those are some the dumbest parts of the lore to be honest
You could re-write the SRF to be like 150 people strong made of former Russian deserters and Chechen mujahedeen operating out of the caucus mountains and so on, Could even keep the models if you really wanted. Maybe they've got some left over gear from the Chechen wars which is where they get their gear from.

This could be done in our current lore even.

NEW SRF

1672761530160.png
Proposed revisal

Force Compositions:
Made of Russian and former soviet soldiers alongside Chechen Jihadists during the seven hours war the SRF fled to the caucus mountains reverting to the doctrine of their once ally Mao opting to use guerilla tactics and strike fear into the hearts of those who joined the invaders the Communist rebels are known for being especially brutal and feared among human combine units as there are reports of soldiers commiting suicide by hand grenade as opposed to being captured by these trained barbarians. The SRF is a unified front of Russians and Caucus islamists united under the banner of one day forging a new soviet union one which benefits all who fight underneath the red banner. The SLF is made of a mixture of experienced guerillas, citizens, and rogue intelligence personnel who narrowly escaped the iron grasp of the combine at the close of the war these individuals escaped to the mountains following a treacherous exodus.

City Operations & End game goal: In the cities though slightly weaker then their outland counter-parts the SLF Or Socialist Liberation Front operatives conduct counter-intelligence operations and cause chaos amongst the population with a handful of former KGB/Stasi esq trained personnel instructing them how to disseminate propaganda these operatives are focused on winning the hearts and minds of the working class Aswell as destabilizing the city and causing chaos and anarchy their goal? De-stabilize the city enough for the SRF to move in from their mountain strong-holds and cause a violent uprising to re-take or destroy the ancient city of Moscow and eventually replace the combine regime with a new soviet union consisting of the Chechen, Moscow Oblasts and any other eastern European countries who wish to join.

Lore Historic
The Socialist Liberation Front is a massive aspect of the SRF and is key to their success while the SRF itself is one collective they operate as two seperate "Branches" so to speak with the SLF being an off-shoot/city branch of the SRF tasked with propaganda, de-stabilization, and inciting revolutionary fervor in-order for the SRF aka the main Militant arm of the organization which serves as the main muscle to move into the city following successful sabotage/subterfuge caused by the SLF.

You know what, fuck the loremap
people should instead create their own lore and go along with it. like sure there should be a timeline of all the lore events that had happened before your shitizen arrived in shitty 24, but no loremap. Loremaps are frankly shit because its an excuse to introduce unrealistic features to lore that wouldnt make sense at all in hl2

this video basically confirms when the most important games and lore takes place using canonical material and educated guesses. willard should build up on this

Tbf, I couldn't care if the server wiped.

I just want it to be fun again.

So like while we’re talking about this, and all the chat on timeline stuff, what happens if or when we reach when the rebellion is supposed to happen, does the server just become RebellionRP?

I think that's a real grey area the uprising is supposed to icly happen in 2020 (November 2020, So that gives us 1 year and 9 months if the dates on that video are to be believed.) It's icly 2019 right now, And look at the state of the rebellion like even lambda/lfc are sort of in shambles as it stands, The SRF Haven't made any break-throughs people are talking about wiping it.

London has gone rogue France and Italy *Could* follow possibly, So the *Potential* is there but the red tape unfortunately is pretty heavy when you want to do unique things.

The problem I think is there's more things going on in the background as some have said "Show don't tell". Remember last year the "Special forces" that attacked those CPs? We need events in the city where say rebels are able to hit combine infrastructure, And not just a small generator that knocks out power to the slums
I know a lot of people were pissy about admin rebels but maybe having staff write a story so we're not 24/7 Slice of life dystopia simulator would be nice, You could have someone like PF, Broker, Clover. Contact the rebels and get them to attack a vulnerable power station that connects to the districts nexus or something, Have it be great risk with the reward being de-stabilizing the city and something heavy as a reward for the rebels, I don't know maybe some sub machine guns or rifles or something.

Problem on main is there are like maybe 10 mixed activity rebels alive currently and they're not unified, Gangs are more prevalent at this point then Insurgents / Rebels are.

The OIN Tower is still down, The pressure needs to be kept on if de-stabilization is going to happen, I've said this before but I'll quote this right from the
1672784370079.png
(Source Combine Overwiki)

If the rebels unify keep the pressure on the sector And train so OTA Doesn't wipe them they could easily begin two campaigns one aimed at demoralizing combine human forces and converting loyalists/citizens. And another which would be of armed action I.E Attacking units, Bombing infrastructure ((Not the fucking RDT)) And carefully placed ambushes.

That being said in-order for this to work the staff need to give the rebels a little lee-way. And the LFC needs to get support brought in and considering they have a fucking arctic base and naval station there is no reason some of that MAA gear they undoubtedly captured in the arctic can't be transported via the submarines and have an admin rebel organize an expedition to get this equipment using on server rebels. Maybe its a machine gun or a mortar emplacement or some kind of radar that will be set up to tip the rebels off in the outlands of combine movements (Idfk I'm spit balling.)

I really would like to see the rebels redeem themselves and pull an ace from all the shit we've seen them go through I think we can all agree 2022 was at best a rocky year for the rebels as there were no real clear cut victories only pyrrhic ones and bad losses felt, Really hoping they can turn it around, The rebels are the ying to the combine's yang, We NEED that tension otherwise the server becomes urban totalitarian slice of life simulator and that gets boring after a week or two.

Here's the thing. You say it would be okay for staff to have rebel characters, and I agree...
NOT WHEN THEY'RE CONSTANTLY IN NOCLIP, INVINSIBLE AND SHOOTING NEAR OUR FUCKING FEET THAT SHIT WACK AS FUCK, THAT ADMIN WAS GOOFY AS HELL
Sachimi had actually a really good Rebel character, willing to sacrifice her rebel reputation to have another rebel killed
But then we killed her. Dunno why.

Far be it from me to question the master guerilla tacticians of Willard, But isn't fragging your own...kind of detrimental? You wouldn't see that in Civil Protection or OSF (Ususally)

Doesn't really feel like the kind of thing you would really want to promote...

Its slated for 2021 in Willard, though its unlikely to happen in such a form. I've always been a fan of knocking the HL2 mark off the timeline just to free shit up and add some suspense.

London has gone rogue France and Italy *Could* follow possibly, So the *Potential* is there but the red tape unfortunately is pretty heavy when you want to do unique things.

Its not about Red Tape over unique things. You talk about having a story but the whole London thing was a result of an admin shrugging their shoulders and just marking the city as a free state for no logical reason. The Dover bridge was destroyed due to magical interference. The issue with Willard storytelling is that its just a collection of events that have absolutely nothing to do with one another or the world around them. Feels more like Gman is working overtime than a result of genuine cause and effect. Hell, literally nothing about the OCIN event line made any sense whatsoever and its a massive stain on Sector 10 lore.
I support just saying London gets razed to the ground at this point cause its alarming how many terrible ideas have originated in that place (HMMLR, Auspicious, Free State, etc.)

@Imperator RAD-X
I have a few recommendations. I'll keep it simple.

1. strict activity roster for faction leads and/or staff

Something like a 2 week activity check rotation to keep things going (with leniency for hiatuses ofc, make them appoint stand-ins while they're gone with irl business though). You need active FLs and staff to keep the server dynamic.

2. lore overhaul

I actually don't mind the world map bar a lot of useless and outdated information. It's interesting and offers context for events and expeditions. But you should definitely make it simpler to comprehend. As it stands there's a dumbfounding amount of different rebel groups or CCA politicking sub-groups that influence nothing and that nobody cares about. Combine should be an united front. As should the rebels, considering the effects of mass citizen relocations.

Does this mean CCAs or rebels can't have conflicts of interest? God no, but keep it on the server, not on a bunch of random paragraphs.

3. more events

Encourage the staff/creative team to do more stuff on main. I've seen servers with daily events, held consistently each day during peak. That'll keep the playerbase happy and the citizens from afking. You don't need complicated eventlines necessarily. Few examples: Headcrab infestations in random city locations, parties for the CPs to eventually find out about and shut down, random encounters that emphasize player choice and interaction (crime sightings, fetch quests, xenian critters with weird powers like those frogs etc.).

Have em put random, useful rp items in random dumpsters/containers. Something a citizen could just randomly find and decide what to do with.

4. do what you gotta do asap and open the server up b4 you lose traction and people move on with their lives

Combine could just unleash the seven hour war synths stationed on earth on City 3 and London at this point massive winter offensive 😎

Also, I've read some other comments and personally wouldn't mind a timeskip myself. Not post ep. 2 though. I agree that we'd rather still play HL2RP rather than a WW3 simulator.

Post main story/citadel explosion could be done perfectly well. Things are shaky enough for the rebels to have a cause on account of news about C17 spreading fast, but not shaky enough for the Combine to lose control over the rest of their cities like C24. Breen's dead, not the advisors or the rest of the CCA.

It makes sense with the rest of the lore map seeing all the destabilized cities and CCA defectors, and puts things through a new perspective without changing too much. Sounds like fun to me.

This just in:

Combine Overworld invasion repelled by rebels armed with pipe weapons. More at eleven.

3. more events
It's not enough in the long run, We Have to get on board of a story. and a few things need to happen for that.

1. Rebels unifiying.
2. Rebels willing to take risks.

I'd list more but at this point I'm saying the same shit over and over

I really hope we see a major de-stabilization in city 24 this year whether that becomes shootings and attacks on CPs being more common, Or some how the rebels weaponizing the xenians in-order to overwhelm Overwatch the same way the TN Rebels did, Idk IDC I just pray that 2023 isn't another year of stagnation, C'mon guys.

I agree wholeheartedly. But that's up to the rebels, not the creative team.

Staff having control of a whitelist rebel faction didn't seem to change much. I think staff should wrangle the faction leads more covertly via stuff like events, comm relays and orders given from, say, Black Mesa East by Eli or something. They shouldn' take over and spawn resources for themselves only to eventually go inactive: they should guide the players like an invisible hand.

As for unification and taking risks and actual rp like training and RESISTING, it's harder to tackle because it takes one thing the rebels don't currently have: active, good leadership. I'm hoping to see it change, and maybe even contribute towards changing it alongside other people that're willing. Staff should also play a part in this by getting rid of inactive leads before shit's left to fester.

This. We need the CT/Rebel admins to play a role acting as the ears and mouth pieces of the outside in order to have a working story they use the rebels to achieve these goals, "I just got a radio broadcast saying LFC is sending us a shipment of Heavy Machine-guns we can use around fortifications to defend our outlands operations post from the increased hunter and synth/Transhuman patrols.
