like i get we had the combine pretty much destroy so much of the shit we had but like it doesn't mean we lost every single modern vehicle like helicopters, humvees and planes so like why we gotta use 1850 carriages and 1960 dragons

There's a fair amount of modern equipment still being utilised. I think you're exaggerating just a smidge.
If it's an actual concern to you and not just a bit of a troll, could you provide some concrete examples and documentation to go off from? I'm not sure of the exact particular instances you're referencing, but I'm sure most has sound reasoning behind it

since the combine decided to invade earth, humanity was solely focused on its survival rather than continuing their other endeavors like the creation of more modern cars or technology. eventually they became enslaved by the combine and were pretty much just lap dogs that did their bidding, humans couldn't do anything for another few years before eventually being allowed to work in jobs, further advance technology utilizing the combine's tech, etc.

a majority of old human tech was thrown away by the combine and replaced by their own forms of technology, resulting in all humans having to work with old crappy computers and pagers in order to communicate, document, etc. sure we can try to use old cars that should still exist to this day, but why would you want a species that you've enslaved operating vehicles that could be used for manslaughter or something to that effect?

one example im thinking of is stalingrad event
when we found a tank, we somehow found a IL-2 tank that needed repairing to which we did repair
70 years of rusting making it not work just for one small fix to make it work?
how does a IL-2 tank just not get scrapped down for modern tanks? why did we have to have such a old tank when there are more mass produced tank made by the soviets that would be even more common place, than a WW2 IL-2
