Fr though we need some old bolt action rifles I want a mosin or a KAR98 :(

Actually kinda agree, its weird that there's not any older bolt actions , you'd think they'd be easy enough to get, atleast compared to the more modern weapons.
 
There's no low tier snipers / rifles, it's all automatics, and shotguns, mega lame, like in reality if you can craft a fucking SMG out of random crap it'd actually be easier to make a bolt action rifle out of scrap

Not to mention it'd be considerably more reliable

We should have some low cost bolt actions...

Not exactly true.

SMGs are relatively simple in design because the rounds which they fire are much lower in pressure than a rifle caliber round, so the materials and machining of said materials is a lot easier to do. For rifles (of any kind), good luck making a bolt and breach that can withstand a rifle caliber round..

I do agree that we should have them tho.

Add a weapon that is basically a shotgun shell and a hammer, u hit the back of the shell with the hammer and u shoot it

I'm trying to think if something like a Mosin would work, just a less expensive gun that something like an M24?

a simple blow back SMG is the easiest thing to make, other than a signal shot gun, you just need a tube, and spring, a metal cylinder, and 2 bits of metal for the trigger, the mag would be the most complicated part of it
 
I mean in order to make a *reliable* hand crafted automatic weapon it'd be a lot harder than making a reliable hand crafted bolt action , might take longer but in terms of effectiveness it'd work, realistically without using well machined parts both kinds of weapons would be incredibly shitty (obviously) but the sheer amount of recoil from an automatic weapon assuming you don't somehow create an effective gas blow back system would be immense, and sure it'd require a higher degree of knowledge to produce an effective bolt action rifle to take the pressure from a rifle round, and it'd take better / more materials but I still think in terms of balancing effectiveness over reliability a bolt action would still be the way to go, I mean im saying this like the scrap smg jams all the time (which irl it would if it didn't just fucking explode instantly)

Aye sure you could do that but like put 5 rounds down range and the gun would have melted internally shot several holes in someone's pet messenger pigeon and that's not to mention the complex internals needed for effective cartridge removal so you'd probably jam after each shot 💀
 
I'm not saying the smg is impossible im simply trying to state why a shitty bolt action rifle should be craftable, because realistically if you can actually make an SMG that's reliable and works effectively out of scrap your char would absolutely have the ability to create a bolt action rifle

i mean, ive made and used a hand made blow back SMG before, worked fine, jammed once and that was cause of the magazine. You can even find the plans for one free online, its called the Luty 9mm, very easy to make, and effective

Hm that was actually an interesting read, although your definition of "very easy to make" might be a bit off 🤣 the sheer amount of accurate measurements and drilling you'd need to make that thing right are astounding, still my original point wasn't one that the smg should be removed, simply that a bolt action should be added as well, hell while im at it add an armourer white list and make weapons degrade over time and with usage and only give armourers access to properly strip weapons and maintain them 😈
 
Also im definitely now on a watch list for using military WiFi to look up how to create an SMG 🤣
