Rebels currently get "Combinium" if they kill an OTA instead of their rifle. Which can be used for many things, like:

My suggestion is to actually GIVE THEM THE FUCKING OTA RIFLE, since it's really hard already to kill OTA, so you should at least give them some sort of reward for fighting the best and most tryhard players (That are also overpowered as fuck) with their shitty rebel rifles and managing to kill them.

They wouldn't even be able to use the rifle until they find someone that can hack it, or find a way to remove the biolock, but at least THEY GOT THE RIFLE, which is what they want.

Pulse rifles aren't THAT impressive either way in the sense of how much damage they do and the ammo they use, since SOME weapons (I won't say which) accessible by rebels already deal more damage than the pulse rifles, and also the ammo is IMPOSSIBLE to get, so they'd be limited for using the pulse rifles in VERY important situations, or to show off to their rebel friends.

If you really don't want to give out those rifles for some weird reason, then I have a solution for that. GIVE THE RIFLE and make disabling the biolock a really hard task that involves many people and tools (EMP, Maybe a vortigaunt, and an engineer). Just make it as if they were releasing a vortigaunt.

PROS:
-Rebels won't be as pussy as they're now, as right now there is no benefit on fighting OTA
-Rebels will get a REWARD for fucking killing the most op enemy on the server
-Weapon can be balanced by adding pulse rounds in certain events, and that way admins can actually control the rebel (Or rebels) that have the gun by, instead of locking them from having it, locking them from having the ammo.
CONS:
-I don't see any, please write what you think and I'll include it here.

I actually support this idea, it provides an incentive for fighting OTA instead of hiding away. Just remember, the AR2 does ~20 damage a shot with max gun skill, so take that as you will.

honestly....? yeah. why not? Pulse rounds are a unique ammunition type which means admins or the auth team can balance the gun on the spot not by making it completely unusable, but by restricting the availability of the bullets it shoots.

So, several issues here.
We ALL know (as per Half-Life: Alyx) that Combine weapons have several biolocks ensuring that if the weapon were to fall into enemy hands, it cannot be used. These measures include gene locking, facial recognition, finger recognition, eye recognition and 2 variants of password on the side of the gun to use it. To add onto this, rebels are not even CLOSE to being strong enough to pick up an AR2. I mean, doesn't it sound ridiculous? A scrawny rebel that lives off of cooked headcrab in the slums can pick up alien technology that only supersoldiers are able to wield? Sound it out in your head, maybe. Finally, this is an OTA WEAPON. Yeah, I put 30 minutes into an application so I should be able to get the right tools for the job to PK you without any consequences when I do die. No OTA are ever PK hungry, and they can all be trusted with this - But a Rebel is not so trustworthy. If they can't even obey the Combine IC, then why should we give them anything that needs to be entrusted to them OOC?

I feel like having OTA drop a non-cracked AR2 on death isn't a bad idea especially since Willard made them really OP, it also makes OTA more cautious instead of knowing they can get away with basically anything without repurcussions. Also in Half-Life: 2 rebels pick up and actively use the AR2 without ever needing to crack its bio-lock since it does not have one so

Don't mind the suggestion, as biolocks exist for a reason.

However, you presented this with a bad attitude so going to X anyway. :angrycop:

i agree, if you manage to kill an OTA squad, you should be able to get the weapons they, also it works icly to, why would you not get the better weapons from the super soldiers you just managed to kill. and they would have biolocks anyways, meaning you'd have to be a really skilled engineer, have an EMP, or a free vort, all of those require some investment, weather it be gameplay, or RP investments.

Also, while it is great idea, my man Belgg, you didnt have to be asshole about it

Lol
Facts. All rebel mains voted yes and all ota voted no

I got a OTISR from killing OTA, so I have no idea why this isn't a thing.

OTA should be the end game boss for rebels on Willard, with EOW being the top dog. If you manage to actually bring an entire squad down you should at least get the reward of their weapon, not a shitty crafting material. Right now all you get are their meds and broken Armor, bro who tf wants meds?

Despite me being a big combine-main, I have to agree. Rebs should get a reward for their efforts,

to be fair we're at the point in the timeline where the AR2 hasn't been produced yet. so the current prototype of the pulse rifle isn't that powerful and shouldn't be that big of a deal to hand over to trustworthy rebel players that can only be used for situations mentioned in the thread.

You're not really supposed to be fighting OTA. If you are, there better be a damn good reason since they have such a high chance of corpsing you.

Rebels right now don't really understand that they're not meant to stand in direct opposition to the Combine and that stashing is pretty much necessary if you want to do anything.

Biolocks are just a HL: A plot device to explain why Alyx can't pick up any of the cooler weapons in VR.

But yeah to solve that just... pour some blood on the biosensor. Let it dry. Permanently unlocked weapon.

I will allow the weapon to be dropped however, I will only do this if I can get the Biolock feature to work once more.

Reason we disabled it in the past is not only did no one have the ammo to use it and thus kept selling it, but also because when someone did gain ammo, they never RP'd the process of unlocking it, and just use it out the gates- this shouldn't of happened and should need a vort to unlock.

ACCEPTED - IF BIOLOCK WORKS CORRECTLY (Dev testing required)

If we are to completely follow everything in the book whether it comes from HL:A or HL2 or whatever. Then loyalists shouldn't exist. CWU shouldn't exist. CMU shouldn't exist. Your OTA have personality. CPs have no ranks and no personalities outside of telling people to piss off. No Tyrant. No Heartwick. No Casinos. No Chips. No Credits. No Tokens. No Armbands for citizens (they use buttons lol). Rations every hour of every day. No Loyalist Tier system. No apartment blocs that is tied to a single individual (you're all stuffed into one room with one bed and one tv have fun). No City 24 asethetic.
Rebels ultimately win the game and Lambda should be the only rebel faction.

Stop trying to apply actual game lore logic when Marc Laidlaw says there is no canon and Valve aren't GW when it comes to lore. This goes for everyone, not just Combine-mains but to everyone else with "but muh canon" mentality in general.

That's all I have to say here.
