I think CP's forget they are the bad guys...

CPs aren't inherently bad, least not the low ranking ones anyway, yes - if they're kiss-asses they will be, or if they have a superiority complex etc, but let's not forget, they're human too, not every single CP has to be evil 100% of the time some might just be people trying to get those decent meals, once you start getting memory replacements and advancing in the ranks, then yes, you will most likely be a bad person, as you're beginning to strip away at your humanity, and be brain-washed further.

If you saw how some rebels acted you'd think othewise.
100% agree with this, most rebels are just anti-rp and shoot on sight. Hence why I’m trying to be different and shit, but I feel like CP’s forget that they are the bad guys and people are actually OOC falling for combine propoganda which is insane

What lead you to this conclusion?
I heard some cp players say that they shouldn’t randomly get attacked by rebels, shouldn’t get pk’d if attacked etc.

But, they are the bad guys.. We have every right to do a surprise attack when given the chance and PK/whatever the fuck the CP corpse

whatever the fuck the CP corpse

No, i think its because of the metro arc alot of cps became chill and not bootlickers trying to get you arrested for wearing a cap as tier 1

I am firm on people just wanting to shotcop because they're bored. It should be discouraged, I'd rather you guys have a motive, a reason, and that one reason can be "They're part of the Combine." However, this past month or so has given mindless OOC hate on both sides, and thus do we need to all reflect on what is happening.

Why are people so ready to be bloodthirsty? Why are there boiling points on an OOC standpoint? These aren't really meant to be answered here but it is enough for reasons of concern to be wary of. To watch for how people are reacting from this arc.

No one can tell me that tensions didn't rise from this. I'd argue you're showing your passive-aggressive nature right now with how you have titled this thread.

The Combine as a whole are the evil bad guys. It's part of the enjoyment of playing, but this is also an RP server. A narrative. Make the story grow from both sides, not just your own or theirs. Work together to make something better. If you shotcop because you are bored, you are part of the problem.

With this break we're on, I hope tensions will cool down. As well as these passive-aggressive remarks made in the discords/dms/etc.

Let's come back refreshed, ready to go and to leave this OOC anger back in the Metro.

Edit:
As Reece stated, if Civil Protection is TOO EVIL. There are issues, it's a balancing act.

Tried having more evil CP's and people jump to the forums about it and complain, it's a vicious cycle that will most likely never be broken unless CP commit to either being evil, or remain as they are now.

As for people accepting the combine through propaganda, I'd argue it's half and half IC and OOC. You'll wanna convince players being a loyalist is much better than a rebel/slummer, which right now, it really isn't. CP's treat a tier 4 citizen much different than a tier 2 one, that is really the only benefit and it can change with what unit you come across so it isn't guaranteed.

Point is, if you're looking for a more gameplay experience, where you'll be interacting with character levels and equipment play a rebel. If you're looking to play a more RP focused experience play cityRP.

Playing CP can be similar to walking on Eggshells. A good variety of players expect Civil Protection to be fair, in some way. This is usually in the form of unspoken rules.
- CP cant beat you up without a reason
- CPs need a reason for everything
- CPs cant just take whatever they want from you
These are purely OOC. Usually, when these rules are broken, you'll get a scathing comment in the general chat on how CPs are so biased and unfair.
CPs should be pushing the limits of what humanity can tolerate, though the OOC circumstances heavily reduce this.

Open cp apps and I'll make the forums explode.

Honestly I have only really shot cops when it either benefitted me or they were just in the way or I got attacked. But I’ve been back on Willard for around a month or whatever now, and I’ve heard non stop discussions about rebels being too passive blablabla. So when we finally do smth it’s still not good and people call us “shotcoppers” and whatever for no reason lmao

Often civil protection players aren't looking to be the Civil Protection from hl2, they're just looking to become a generic cop. Lots of people fail to realize that just because your character joins for 'muh food' or 'muh family' doesn't mean they shouldn't be held accountable for helping enslave other people.

There's a weird phenomenon where people who mainly play Combine characters genuinely believe that somehow the Combine are in the right, or at least morally grey, which certainly makes them not play like an antagonist if they truly don't believe they are one. They don't go out of their way to create conflict or show citizens the real consequences of succumbing to Combine rule.

Of course, there always has to be a middle ground between evil CP and good CP that has both elements so you can still interact with citizens but not be outright "<:: Get out of here. Haha. Move! ::>" or "omg hi mr johnny how are you how was ur day, u want a credit coupon? :)". But often a CP falls in one or the other without fail.

Often the nice CP phenomenon also happens because rebels are often bombing ration places and apartment buildings, and constantly when there's some sort of map change event or whatever, CPs actually are tasked with saving civillians rather than just... witness sterilizing them or something. Also there's the fact that in hl2rp you can't really roleplay the methodical kidnapping and shipping-off of random citizens that you see in hl2 and hl:alyx, which leads to cops feeling like they actually are simply laying down laws rather than taking part in a slow genocide.

I’m trying to change the narrative a lot myself, during the whole metro arc I think I’ve saved about a dozen lives, always made sure to capture people instead of instantly end their life no questions asked and even made some loyalist friends and a CCA member as a friend.

But there’s so many people who just want to kill kill kill that it’s almost impossible and u can’t even change their mind.

For example the whole bandit leader shit, I was interrogating her and people kept intervening and slapping her whatever and threatening me that if I set her free they’d kill me or whatever. So I just took them to my own room with my own gang who let me do my thing and we figured out who they were, their intentions and everything together with the CPs

But it’s really annoying that some people still don’t want to rp and just try to kill everyone instantly

The fact you're trying to be the change you want to see is commendable and I wish you to keep it up. Such as people like myself who play Civil Protection will do our best to do the same.
