My life has indeed had a high degree of luck, I suppose. My biological mother died early on in my life, taking her leave of this world after a myriad of illnesses. From what I was told, she was destined for a hard life had she survived; raising me on her own after my father left us both days after my birth. She nonetheless tried everything an English Working Class Single Mother could to support her only child. I too could have easily led a similar existence.. Though it was her death that seemingly freed me from this..
Not long after she departed from this world, I luckily found myself adopted by a family of Higher-Class, Aristocratic in nature. Luckily for me and perhaps unluckily for them, they were unable to conceive legitimate children. As such, my birth surname was changed and I was quickly integrated into the Goodwin estate. To others in their same circle, I was always regarded as their biological son, their Heir. Never would anyone know I was an adopted orphan born to a Working Class mother.
The years of expensive schooling, being taught the proper way to do something, and having enough family wealth that I would never have to work a day in my life, should I not want to - I nonetheless always had an interest in Mechanics and Machinery, something far beneath my stature, thus I had to keep this hobby hidden as best I can. I self-taught myself enough about the Electrician trade I could have been a Journeyman.
Later in life, this boyish hobby was soon replaced by a much more appropriate field. A field I spent many years in university and gained my Bachelors degree in - Business Management. How ironic to know that both of these interests, that of a Mechanical Tradesman and a Business Major, would come to serve me well in the years to come...

I cannot thank Our Benefactors enough for where they have placed me. City 24 is exquisite! I have again been lucky enough to be relocated to truly the finest of Earth’s Urban Centers. From City 2, City 9, City 58, and now City 24. Not one of them would I ever have a single bad thing to say! Tis’ a city for Collaborators and those seeking to ascend from ordinary citizenry and Underclass to proper loyalists and it certainly shows! Since arriving some years ago, I have found my place in society once again. I joined the Civil Workers Union, once taking part in it’s many workshifts, I now run my own as a foreman. I’ve met several like-minded individuals among my peers here as well. We are close, like a family perhaps. A family brought together by one desire – Service to Our Glorious Benefactors.

Tensions are high at the moment. At first, it was a rumor or two about a horde of Antlions heading our way, thousands, TENS OF THOUSANDS, all headed our way! Many chose to ignore it, while those who did thought our defenses would hold. Day after day, however, it has become more and more apparent; boarding up our windows, enlisting auxiliary citizens known as Heartwick’s Bulwarks as a sort of last-line of defense. The most loyal among us will likely take shelter in the Nexus while the rest will have to suffice with our preparations and stay confident our forces will come to their aid once the horde is pushed back. Every day we prepare for this day. The sight of one, two or a dozen Antlions is a sign of things to come. We must prepare for the worst.

They came… It was straight out of a nightmarish film from the cinema. They would NOT STOP. The Transhuman Soldiers and Civil Protection were quickly being overwhelmed. I was trapped in my apartment’s elevator during the initial onslaught, only to finally make it outside and nearly be surrounded. My luck had nearly ran out at that moment - when suddenly an Overwatch Soldier stormed down the street, gunning down Antlions. They rallied with me and fought off the wave of bugs while escorting me to the relative safety of the Nexus.
Once all was said and done, the higher Administration fled the District and Synthetic forces were dispatched to cleanse. I had very nearly died in the breakout, had it not been for the help of two of my best mates, Nils Oskar and William Dubois, not simply physically helping me but we kept our spirits high while the world around us was falling.

Laura Maxwell – Truly an Enigma of a person. I first met you while leading a workshift, you were always the first to finish, commendable. I saw you struggle in District 9 – In District 43 you got yourself a job and were doing well. Hope you are doing just as well out there. You always struck me as a good intentioned person. - I don't see you much these days. I know our last encounter was.. Not exactly ideal. I had just become a Tier-4 and chastised you for not giving me my mandatory T4 discount. It's laid out in the handbook, but I know it's easy to forget sometimes. I hope you aren't too mad at me, and I still hope you are getting by. Sorry about your uncle Earl..
- How strange... I ran into you at the DOB shop and you seemingly forgot who I was. Did not recognize me nor remembered my name.. I certainly hope your mental faculties aren't departing your brain, t'would be a shame to see you marked as Mentally Unfit, as you indeed are still a good labourer! We talked a bit more, perhaps soon your memory will jog and you'll remember me.
- Saw you a few more times at the DOB shop, and at Callums. You complained about being mugged and I took pity, buying you a new Winter Coat because I know what it's like to get mugged and have nothing, we also hung out at my apartment and talked a bit. Yet... Then when I saw you again at the DOB shop, you acknowledged Akira, but still called me 'Fedora guy'... Seriously? Either you were hit on the head, or you are purpousefully forgetting me. You seem to remember *everyone else*.. Well. No matter. I'm far too busy with my job to play these silly games with you.
Maxim Kowal – My immediate manager, and a good man too. You took me under your wing in the Business Department, quite the change from Resource Production. I like to think I’m slowly returning the favor by making your job just a bit easier. – You promoted me to Supervisor!! I’m forever grateful. For too long I wondered if I was doing something wrong when I was in Resource Production, instead it seemed I was just in the wrong department. I couldn’t ask for a better Manager!
- We both moved up quite significantly! I'm now the DOB Lead Manager and *you* are apart of the CCA now with the Ministry of Commerce! You look amazing in that CCA suit, I must say! It's weird not having you around the office as much, but like I said, you taught me everything you know. You put your trust in me when you made me Senior Worker, and then Supervisor! Now as the Manager, I'll continue to show you, that you indeed picked the right man for the job! (Enjoying your old office! I can't imagine what your new one looks like!)
Sally Peters – I first met her in District 9, myself still just a Journeyman and her a CLC analyst. I had doubts about her, but I was definitely wrong. Now she’s now a CWU Supervisor and an Outer Party Member. Had many conversations together and am always glad to have her around. You’re a friend for life, Sally.
– You showed back up! After months! You just re-appeared like nothing happened. You claim you were off on some business that you were selected for, due to your CLC experience, but... Then why were you demoted back to Senior Worker? Why was your Tier-4 status revoked? I'll dig into this later, there's something else to the story here you aren't telling us...
Felix Waltman – You saw something in me, whether it was my personality or the fact I was a DOB employee, I got to know you quite well. Some may say you were only interested in yourself and your own business, but I could see there was a sense of loyalty to the Union nonetheless.
– Haven’t seen you since the fall of District 43. Due to how important you were, I assume you fled before the rest of us. Hope to see you someday in the future.
Arthur Eastgate – If there’s ever anyone who’s sacrificed so much as a loyal worker, it would definitely be Arthur. You were maimed in a fire while on the job in District 9 and very nearly lost your life only to be told you might never walk again, yet he persevered. Glad to see you made a full recovery and are better off now than you were; a Manager and an all around good coworker.
- Interim Vice Director? Goodness. That is quite the title. Something I bet you never saw yourself taking all those years ago! Then again, you sacrificed more than any of us to get where you are today. You have my full support, should you eventually want to be the new Director.
Jasmine Garcia - We joined the Civil Workers Union around the same time, I believe. Yet somehow you flew past the rest of us, first to Senior Worker, then onto Supervisor. You were my Supervisor while apart of Resource Production. We also went into business together; you, Varos and I opened the Sunset Creamery on Victory Street. We made a lot of money selling that ice cream. Until the place BLEW UP somehow. We rebuilt it, but by the time I left, it was shut down by MOC and quickly bought up by Waltman.
I enjoyed my time in Resource Production and you are a capable supervisor, but.. I always felt I was being passed over for promotion time and again. Two whole Districts and I remained a lowly Worker. I soon came to accept that I would likely never be promoted and put in for a transfer to the Department of Business, yet there I'm already a Supervisor! Interesting how that works..
- You disappeared for a long time, too.. We all heard rumors you had been arrested and interrogated, possibly even amputated... When I saw Waltman remove you from the Outer Party & Security Council, I assumed the rumors were true. Then... You returned.. Not dead, but alive and well. Went right back to being a Supervisor too. Bet you never would have thought I'd be a Supervisor now, aye?
Varos Atkins – Ah, The Entrepreneur. We worked together at the Sunset Creamery, with Jasmine. Then it burned down, was rebuilt, and closed by MOC, perhaps for the best though. Your stall has made you a rich man, meanwhile joining the DOB has been the best thing that’s happened to me. Still won’t forget our first business!
– You ascended to Tier-4? Holy shit. I never thought I’d see that!
Olivier Fournier – Newer fellow to the Civil Workers Union, transfer from City-13… I haven’t learned much about you though you seem rather sad and depressed most of the time. Perhaps due to the Anti-French policies we have? I know those policies were put in place for a reason, though you’ve never done any wrong by me and from what I’ve seen, you’re quite the hard worker.
– Heard some rumors about you… Your apartment was haunted? You kept /what/ in your fridge?? I don’t know you too well to know what to believe, but my first impressions of you are nonetheless good!
- Do I hear wedding bells??? You and Akira are now Tier-4, and you're putting in for a Civil Marriage?? Goodness, me! I'm so happy for you both. I hope I'm invited! Perhaps one of your Groomsmen maybe? Hah. Good on you, old chum. You beat the odds. You came here as a depressed City-13 fellow, but now you're one of us! You have a great job at the DOB, a woman that loves you, and you're apart of the Outer Party now!
Ophelie Latourelle – Ophie, Ophie. You’re another one of my long time friends from District 43. Shared many workshifts together and survived a /lot/ of harrowing moments. One word I would say is ‘Remarkably Unremarkable’. You’re rather soft spoken and mild mannered, you say little but sometimes that’s all that’s needed to make your point. You’re a good hearted person, you were the first to Vouch for my entry into the Outer Party and to receive my Tier-4 Ascension. For that, I can’t owe you enough. You’re a great friend and an awesome coworker.
– I can’t believe you’re the new District Administrator! Congrats! Honestly, I never took you for a politician sort, though… Hearing you defend yourself against Orwell and the others at your inauguration was a sight to behold. No longer the meek, quiet, woman. Now you’re running an entire DISTRICT.
Conan Duncan – Local CWU employee. It must have been wild to see all of us District 43 chaps flocking in, but you seem to get along with all of us. A smart lad, you joined the Department of Business and you’re a fast learner (aside from the times you’re staring at the while when the lines get long hehe). Kind of my DOB protegee, I’ve taught you everything I know.
-This must be the fourth time I've had to talk to you about this... Start showing up to work more, Conan! Believe me, I did /not/ enjoy dressing you down infront of everyone on the radio like that. Tis my last resort when speaking privately doesn't change anything. When you joined the DOB, you did it knowing that it took priority. That means, you stand in the shop or make yourself useful assisting in inspections, paperwork, or anything else. NOT IMMEDIETLY GET ON SHIFT AND HELP WITH A NON-ESSENTIAL WORKSHIFT AT THE WAREHOUSE. I don't like to raise my voice and you are indeed my friend, so I will give you ONE last chance to smarten up, lad. If you can't, I know Resource Production and INFESTATION CONTROL are always in need of workers!!
Jack Knight – My boss and the Director of the Civil Worker’s Union. Did not give him the best first impression; the day after I was promoted from Journeyman, I was demoted and nearly prosecuted over a misunderstanding. No hard feelings though. You’re not biased and you treat all of us equally, I respect that. Nobody believes me, but I think you do it to make us all better workers.
– I still can’t understand why they relocated you… The powerplant goes down and you’re forced to take the blame? Pity.. Whoever we get next, I hope they’re half the Director you were to us, sir.
Hugh Mattock – My oldest and best friend. We met in District 43 in perhaps the most comical way possible. I saw a ghost in one of the abandoned Triumph stores and came to you for help. You then witnessed the same paranormal activity and we shared a bond through that. Since then, I’ve seen you out and about from time to time, you’re a Doctor /and/ work part time at a Restaurant? Here I thought my life was busy! I often feel bad placing you in an awkward position; essentially forcing you to fire your employee or have the store fined, but I’m glad to call you my friend. If ever there was an example of Loyalism, I would point to Dr. Hugh Mattock.
Akira Ovaiss – Another newly minted DOB worker. You have quite the initiative, I must say. You can manage so much without being told to do it beforehand, you handle the stress like a natural (perhaps working in a store beforehand helped with that). You are exactly what the Department of Business desperately needs!
- You truly are a natural when it comes to the kind of work required by DOB! Myself and Maxim are amazed at your level of efficiency and reliability. You pick up on small details during inspections. Among all the lower positioned DOB employees, you're by far exceeding ALL expectations. Perhaps.. I may have found my newest Street Supervisor... Only time will tell!
- You and Olivier! Our newest members of the Outer Party and Tier-4s! I wish you both the best! I certainly hope you enjoy that new apartment. Sometimes having a friend or two in high places helps, doesn't it? Well, really.. You're one of the hardest working DOB employees I have. We're lucky to have you. Sometimes I wonder if the DOB would fall apart without you as my Street Supervisor! It is just.. Street Supervisor, right..? Maybe that will have to change!
Callum Crown – Some chaps seem to be naturally gifted when it comes business, you are certainly one of them. You often hang out by the DOB shop during busy hours, chatting it up with me. Later on, I brought you in for an interview and now you run a quite successful Tailoring-Electronics shop on Prosperity Street. Good on you! With how bad business is in this district, we need more store managers like Mr. Crown!
- Swung by your shop for an inspection. You seem to have quite a handle on things there. You oversee 5 employees and do so with much skill! You passed your inspection with *near* flying colors. Two of your employees could certainly show up more though...
Elias Siemens – The famed Elias Siemens of Siemens Library, in District 43. Once simply a customer of yours, I’ve gotten to know you quite well since ascending to Tier-4, and to the Outer Party. You saw my loyalty for what it was and brought me in. I thank you for that. My only hope is you’re someday able to re-open your library here in this new district. My favorite past-time after work was renting out some of your great books on the Universal Union, Loyalism, and How-To-Be a Better Citizen, style books.
William Dubois - Very close friend of mine from District 43. Civil Workers Union employee, while also the Manager of The Gentleman's Club. We've sat down at the bar and talked politics and so many other things. One of the few people I can seemingly relate to on an intellectual level. Another Outer Party member who vouched for my Ascension - Along with Mattock and Ophelie. Like them, you did so without even hesitating. The level of trust that comes with that is quite genuine.
- Is it true? You're dead..? You saved my life while we fled District 43, though were separated not long after. I asked around and what I've learned is that you died... Executed, even.. How could that be? You were loyal, like the rest of us. Harboring hidden sympathies? No.. That cannot be..
Johann "Joe" Schnoselberg - You work with Quandell "Uncle Q" Kinsey over at the Zooted Zebra. I must say, when you first approached me about starting your own business, specifically a restaurant, I didn't believe you when you said you had "Prior experience". Even when it shown in your logs, I figured you were making this up to get your business going. Then I stopped by the Zooted Zebra and you cooked me up some 'Grandmas Chicken' and all I can say is, I'm sorry for ever doubting you. Your cooking is *magnificent*. Who knows? At this rate, you could end up being some CCA Minister's personal chef!
'Quazimodo' - I assume you were given this name by somebody, and that you aren't a Victor Hugo reader. The name certainly rings true with you as it did in the book.. Half Formed. Perhaps I am being too harsh though. You came to me at the DOB Shop, asking to transfer over to us from the warehouse. I am quite skeptical a Vortigaunt could do anything besides sweep and manual labour, but... Against my better judgement, I will give you this chance. I will be watching you ever step of the way, so I hope you can toe the line. Or.. Whatever you have instead of Toes.
Nils Oskar - You know that friend you had from adolescence, the one who constantly goes around causing trouble, yet gets away with it everytime? This is how I would describe Nils Oskar. He's a loyal friend and a comical lad, never did me any wrong. Though.. You did throw a drunken William Dubois down a sewer grate.. You injected Ophelie with a syringe of RAVE.. But worst of all you made fun of my Black Overcoat, calling me a Diddler! THE NERVE! Overall though, I don't know what I'd do without my friend, we all need a troublemaker in our lives.
- You're gone... Unlike William though, nobody saw you die or found your body. I can only hope you too were separated from our little District 43 caravan as we fled and are out there somewhere, maybe walking through the Outlands, or maybe you found refuge in another city. The rest of the lads think I'm crazy for missing you.. Yet I always thought You, Dubois, and I would survive it and I'd come to work and see you two throwing stuff at each other like usual.
Minister Orwell - Ah. A man after my own heart. You are quite the speaker, Mr. Orwell. I've only met you a handful of times while at the Nexus, and haven't really traded words with you directly. Nonetheless, never was there a more suited man for the job. I very much enjoyed your broadcasts in District 43 before you relocated. You do... Have a habit of *yelling* sometimes though.. But, I'm sure there's a reason for that. Surely you have to yell at your subordinates sometimes!
- I saw you nearly have a stroke at DA Latourelle's inauguration. You were passionate in your beliefs. While I don't necessary believe Ms. Latourelle is a City-13 *spy* or would ever do this District any harm, I can understand the frustration with a person of French origin attaining such a position. There is a lot of distrust among them, but.. Ophelie is loyal to *us*, not to City-13. This much I know.
Zephyrine Quixoticus - One of the newest additions to the Ministry of Commerce. Quite eccentric, though in a good way. I've had many encounters with you so far. You summoned Maxim and I to the Nexus to discuss the ongoing issue of Trade, and commented on the lack of open businesses in this District. I hope my answers satisfied you. You've only just arrived, yet you speak with confidence as if you had been here the entire time. Quite outgoing too. Some may say use the word *Neurotic*, but I disagree, you are just passionate about your work! You're focused on fixing this District's economy and I'm proud to be apart of your plan! I'll assist in anyway I can, Zephy.
- You called myself and all of my labourers up to the Nexus for a big soiree. My goodness the food was exquisite... Then we had a meeting where we worked out a plan that would benefit us both. How passionate you are about trade and us workers, it's... I'm flattered you've chose me to be your liaison for this plan. You're just so... So... Uh.. Well anyway.
-You died... So callously too.. The last time I saw you, you called me and Arthur to a meeting. You gave us some pieces of paper saying we're now "MOC Officials", then, you told your bodyguard you wanted to go to the slums... Hours later, you were dead.. A really brave move, I must say.. Most CCA, or even Collaborators, would NEVER do that with one single bodyguard. I'll always remember you, Miss Zephy..
'Mohammed' - Even with how wonderful things are since the Universal Union has taken their rightful place here, some people still have a difficult time, this I know. Such is how I would describe you, Mohammed, when he showed up to the Department of Business HQ and asked me for a job. I tried to help you as best as I could, pointing you in the right direction. Unlike most who ask similar questions for employment, you still come around quite a bit. Sometimes just to hang out and talk while I'm dealing with customers. One day you told me of your living conditions and I felt compelled for some reason to help. Normally, I wouldn't really consider such a thing, but nonetheless I sent you some credits; enough to pay for an Apartment at Housing Block 2 or 3. Even included enough for the first month's rent. Whether that's myself being charitable or not, at least you get to see first hand that all of us 'Loyalists' aren't bad (as is sometimes circulated by the Underclass). Credits, better housing, luxurious living, and so on, such things appeal to our basic human instinct. Perhaps this one good deed will help pull you back up from the Underclass and help you live a life where loyalty to Our Benefactors is not as bad as your peers may think.
Grant Pressman - An employee of Callum's shop, one of his more active ones too. I ran into you recently while we were getting our rations and you spoke about wanting to join the Civil Workers Union. We pretty quickly went back to the DOB shop and I conducted a full-scale Journeyman interview on you, in which I'm pleased to say you answered everything truthfully and skillfully. The Civil Workers Union now has their newest Journeyman! I certainly hope our talk during, and after, the interview helped restore some faith in things. I realize life can be a struggle for some, but Loyalty & Hardwork can be the deciding factor for many whether they ascend or remain at the bottom. You though.. Will go far, I believe.
- You wanted to talk to me about something while I was finishing up my shift. We went into my office and you expressed you were seriously considering quitting after only a few days. Rotten coworker, seeing a labourer die infront of you, being blamed for things; it's a lot to handle. We talked for a long time, even when to my apartment for a bit and hung out there. I shared you some of the horror stories I went through when I was a fresh Journeyman/Worker. I hope our talk helped you out, you're far too valuable for us to lose, Grant!
-Tier 4! The madlad did it! Quite fast too.. Normally I'd have something to say about that, but you did save the life of a CP and got an award for it. And you're a very loyal bloke. I'm glad you've moved on up, and to say how worried you were about it!
Lea Lilou - A very eager businesswoman. You interviewed for the recently closed down PROSPERITY-3 shop. Your ideas seem very nice and rather unique, to some degree. My initial concerns of you not having reliable employees seems to be more and more unfounded; as you now have three that are willing to be apart of your bar. Initially I received some pushback from opening another bar/food permitted shop in this District, though.. Compared to the other ideas anyway, yours seems to be the most realistic. I'll have an answer for you very soon! Patience IS a virtue, no?
- You withdrew your application and closed up your stall? Peculiar.. You seemed so enthusiastic about opening that bar.. Hope you aren't in any trouble or there's anything going on.
'Boonie' - Can't say I know you all too well. From what I do know; you operate a small stand in Prosperity street next to Varos's hotdog stand. I /think/ I remember you from District 43, though I could be mistaken. Many of your kind sadly look the same... That is when they aren't wearing ridiculous outfits. A Vortigaunt with a Fedora?? That's classy. Your chefs hat is quite cute, I must say. I heard you were removed from the stall for not paying your rent? I wasn't aware until much later. Seems to be another one of MOC's attempts to circumvent our responsibilities. Many speak very highly of you, 'Boonie'. Perhaps I'll stop by your stall and get to know you a bit more.
- You got your stall back! Congratulations! Keep up on the rent this time, though. You do well to show the rest of us you are not all savages, that you merely wish to do business with the rest of us. Whether you are Human or Alien, business is business!
Heinrich Tischer - Old Heinrich the doctor! I know this bloke quite well. For a long time, I merely knew /of/ him, his name echoeing through the streets as a brilliant mind and a quite skilled physician. We did finally meet at a small Collaborator gathering/event (or was it at the CWU?) and hit it off quite well. Like most of my fellow '43ers, we have all gone through quite a lot to get where we are. While the Antlions were beating down the Nexus gates, you were among the wounded trying to save their lives, rather than being the first to flee. I still see you from time to time on the street, either on my way to or from work. Whenever we see eachother, we manage to squeeze in a wee bit of small talk. The finest mind of his generation.
Gabriel Ainsworth - I've had very few interactions with you personally, but I have *heard* you many times regardless.. You're brash, you are quite opinionated and are not the best fellow to work with, from what I've heard from multiple employees now. Seems you like to give even Supervisors 'the business'. Myself personally, I could care less until it becomes a /major problem/ and you further jeopardize workplace moral or go beyond that. Until then, so long as you stay in the Warehouse and not at the DOB store, that's fine by me. Truthfully, some of our employees could use some truth now and then, but... Sometimes you take it a bit far..
Felix Poelking - Your's is a name I've heard of and I've indeed seen you before, going back as far as District 43, possibly even District 9? Though I don't know that much about you, it seems. I've spoken to you many times and have always gotten along with you quite well! Seems you were once in the Security Council but were kicked out? The way you explained it is, you were lucky to be alive, which is... Concerning.. I've also heard rumors about some *thing* with you and Ophelie, the District Administrator. Wonder where that may go? Then again.. I put little faith in rumors these days. You're a good Doctor, from what I hear though! We're lucky to have you. Hopefully someday you may get reinstated as a Tier-4. It's indeed happened!
Yann Stephan - Another such individual! I knew *of* you, but not much about you personally. We did have an interesting situation together once when you came to me at the Department of Business, asking me for my assistance with some project of yours. Sadly, I couldn't give you that much help besides point you in the director of Resource Production of City Restoration. Then! The power suddenly went out! How fascinating. Despite this though, we continued on with our meeting and had a long talk about the project, the state of things, others from CWU Management. I hope that my information helped you get your project going! I know certain the Civil Workers Union, and by extension the Department of Business, is always happy to help our fellow organizations, be it the CMRU, CCA, MOE or *anyone* so long as we have common interests!

CIVIL COMBINE ADMINISTRATION
Praise be to Our Benefactors and those who guide us through the darkness! I attend every rally and watch every broadcast as possibly as I can. You are the chosen; any true and loyal citizen knows the Administration will always have our best interests at heart. A true citizen should do everything in their power to give back to the Universal Union and their representatives. I certainly do my part.
CIVIL PROTECTION
These brave Functionaries and servants of the Union are an inspiration. These men and women of courage put themselves in danger for the benefit of the
…And if only I were physically fit enough to pass their physical…
CIVIL WORKERS UNION
My place of employment and a strong pillar of the community no matter where you are assigned to! I remember how proud I was to wear my CWU Jacket and Hardhat to work every day. At first I was in the Resource Production department, though now I’m a Supervisor in the Department of Business.
People often come up to me and ask, “Where should I go to find work?”, without exception, I point them to the Civil Workers Union – Fair and competitive wages, Social advancement, learn yourself a trade, et cetera. Most importantly though, it allows you to give back to the Greater Union that protects us and keeps society cohesive. We’ve had a few bad apples that join simply to steal, but the vast majority of our loyal workers are treated as one, big, loyal family.
CIVIL MEDICAL & RESEARCH UNION
I can’t say I’ve had too many instances in dealing with the Civil Medical Union, though I likely speak for all of my colleagues when I say I cannot appreciate what they do enough. They are quite literally life savers, through and through, and I have never had a bad experience with any of their interns or nurses. I commend each and every one of them for their dedication and loyalty to Our Benefactors, and to their tireless efforts to keep us all healthy and well in the face of attacks by cowardly terrorists. Besides simple healthcare, their efforts in Scientific research has brought us even more into the future! Who knows what they may accomplish in their laboratories!
OVERWATCH TRANSHUMAN ARM
The Transhuman Arm of the Universal Union… Not much I can say, truthfully. The only times I’ve had contact with them was being escorted into the Nexus by them, or watching them bolt by on their way to crush the Magical Thinking Fringe Elements who reside deep in the sewers. True heroes to the Union!
I would be amiss if I didn’t mention that I am quite afraid of them. Not as though *I* would ever be a target of theirs… However, their coldness, limited small talk, cohesiveness and heavy armaments is a sight to behold. If you are loyal to the regime, you shan’t fear these superhuman soldiers – If you oppose the Union… God help you.
VORTIGAUNTS
I have mixed feelings about your species; many of you are incredibly humble and kind to your human counterparts, though I can’t help but feel a sense of distrust deep down. You make very fine menial workers, but then it does not take much to push a broom, no? No doubt it’s a mask, if your shackles were removed tomorrow, would you keep up this façade of respect and submissiveness? I’ve heard stories of what unshackled or ‘Free’ Vortigaunts are capable of. Thankfully our protectors are quick when dealing with your more dangerous brethren. Our Benefactors tolerate your existence, therefore I too shall, though I seldom let my guard down in your presence.
LOYALISTS & COLLABORATORS
The wisest and smartest among the population always come to realize that loyalty and collaboration with Our Benefactors is simply the only way forward. Why hold onto such ancient and depreciated values, especially when you risk not just your own lives, but your family and friends’ lives too? Dissidence is a disease, like cancer, and in truth, I pity those that feel their way of thinking is TRULY the best option for humanity. Collaborators are the only citizens with common sense. Thankfully, this trend has been growing, and loyalty to the Union is at an all-time high. Once the Underclass and Terroristic elements of society have been wiped out, the rest will naturally come to the right side. The ONLY side of the spectrum that matters.
Besides! While you lot sleep in the sewers, I’ll be sleeping in my rightfully earned Loyalist Apartment. While you roast dead Headcrabs and Dirty water, I’ll be drinking my expensive bottle of Red Wine and dining on the finest Artificial Meat variants. You go ahead and dig through garbage piles for scrap to sell, I’LL be working in my office, overseeing and supervising all of this District’s stores and businesses.
UNDERCLASS
I pity you chaps more than anything. Nobody stays UNDERCLASS unless it’s by pure choice. Our Greater Union gives all citizens the chance to prove their worth and dig themselves out of the hole that is being a ‘Slummer’. You work hard, you turn on your fellow Magical Thinkers, and you can make something of yourself. Yet, many of you walk around and advertise your Underclass status as if it were a badge to be proud of. “Atleast I’m not a traitor.” Oh yes, you are. Though you are simply too ignorant to see it. Sooner or later you will come to your senses and pledge your loyalty to Our Benefactors, rather than to some sewer dwelling criminals.
REBELS
There is a special place in hell for scum such as you. What gives you all the right to surface from your sewage smelling dwelling and commit heinous crimes against your fellow man? You plant bombs, you snipe innocent citizens and officers alike – Only to then hide back amongst the population like the cowards you are. It is because of you lot that your fellow Underclass are re-educated and starved after such atrocities. Most of you are not freedom fighters, /saviors of humanity/, you are criminals. You hide underground, trade in illegal goods and commit horrible acts against Our Benefactors. Some among you are very persuasive in bringing more followers to your *cults of rebellion*, all the while knowing you’re sending some poor citizen and their family to an early death with your toxic rhetoric.
