ERNEST'S JOURNAL

Near the start of it all, I lived a normal life, raised by my parents in the big city, attended school and graduated university. I always felt the role of a law bringer, of an officer suited me and so I served in the academy, got trained and in turn worked at my local precinct. Fast forward a bit and I was promoted to the role of Sheriff shortly after my predecessor had retired. I saved lives, arrested other assholes and grew close to some of my fellow officers. One day however, after we got a call about a local convenience store getting robbed, me and another officer...I think Maria was her name, arrived at the scene, bastard shot me in the gut before Maria took him down. I was in hospital for a few months, had to take a temporary leave while I was recovering. Spent the remaining normal months stuck in the hospital...Makes me wonder what happened to the rest of my team...

My days in the recovery ward seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye, each day seeming to be the same. Wake up, eat, drink, sleep and repeat. I did get to know most of the hospital staff, doctors and nurses who mostly talked to me like I was five. The nightshift workers were decent folk however, spoke to me like I was a real person. I was practically recovered fully when the skies tore open and hell opened up. I don't remember much of what happened that day, took a hard knock to head from one of the brutes when I tried to leave the hospital. Woke up alongside some of the other hospital staff in the emergency room, we were in the company of the US Military. The hospital was made into a makeshift checkpoint for citizen housing and shelter for the first few months...

The day it all happened was like a blur to me, most of the three year gap seemed like that...I remember how trapped everyone felt down in the west, Military wouldn't let us leave the city, less we wander the newly found desert which had supposedly enveloped most of the continent. We all huddled together most days in warmth and silence...

That was until the day came when the skies tore open again, we all hunkered down, following the guidelines in the case of a Portal Storm...except this wasn't a regular one. We should've seen from the start how massive it was, almost three times the size of of regular one. Took about ten minutes before the ships flooded in. I tried to get as many folks to safety as I could while the military failed to hold them off. I locked myself and a group of elderly folks down in the boiler room, we had to listen to the gunfire and carnage above...The radio just played static for hours as we sat there...then it stopped entirely. We all gathered around it as we heard the usual anthem filled with static sputter through, then we heard the presidents voice...and learned of our surrender

The following decade after the war was devastating for me, I was lost...had nothing but the Lord to keep me company. I drifted from City to City, job to job until I landed myself in Boston. Found myself a job tending to a bar in the slums, and it was almost immediately when I got there, that I noticed howthe people around here were...'different', they smoked together, drank together and most of all, they laughed together. The community down here was amazing, everyone gave in their helping hand and made their sorrowful District into a paradise for themselves. They helped me find hope again, and then It gave me an idea, a mission for me. I needed to bring that same feeling of co-operation and community to the next city I went to, to help those down on their luck into creating their own peace.

My arrival to Geneva fated me to meet a inspirational man, Joseph Holt. He had opened up a small organisation called "The Charity", a homeless shelter centred around keeping the misfortunate warm and fed during the stormy evenings and cold nights. I volunteered immediatly and began to feel that same community I'd felt all the way back in Boston, he'd helped people more than he could have known. It's a damn shame someone decided to burn it down...

They'd broken Holt, he took the next train out of town and I've never heard from him since. The indigent folks were heartbroken, their one sanctuary was destroyed...I couldn't let it end like that. So I picked up the pieces, spent my credits and build the place back up brick by brick.

Volunteers joined up, donations were received and bedding was implemented, The Charity was back and folks had a place to sleep once again. Of course, the odd Civil protection officer or Thief would come down to try and cause havoc, but we dealt with them accordingly. All was well for a few months...that was until Callum Crown came in...

I've never met a man with such hatred in his heart, he filled our shelter with toxic waste and evicted everyone inside, all because people took their coats from our shelter instead of buying it from his Emporium. I wished no harm upon the man, regardless of his actions however, someone had killed him, and the blame was pinned on me. After they'd broken my leg and beaten me to a pulp, I needed time to recover and plan ahead for whatever was next...

After a few months, I'd recovered enough to put my plan in action, I'd been barred from starting another Charity, but they never said I couldn't still help build up insulated warm rooms for the indigent folks to sleep in for the night. I'm not giving up, I'll help these folks find a peaceful life if it kills me.

FACTION RELATIONS

ADMIRE,RESPECT,LIKE,NO OPINION,DISTRUST,DISLIKE,HATE,
===========================

CIVIL ADMINISTRATION

I've never met a Minister or Director with any genuine sympathy or compassion for their fellow citizens unless it effects their wages...
===========================

CIVIL PROTECTION

Many of you abuse the powers invested in you either for self gain or sick pleasure. Nobody is helped by beating the homeless down.
Others do their jobs dutifully and focus on the larger problems that we all share in. And some do help others out, these are few in numbers but will be remembered well.
===========================

 CIVIL WORKERS UNION

Many of those who work in the Workers Union are the average man, living their average life. A peaceful and normal life I wish everyone could accept. However, the workers I've spoken to personally come across as arrogant and seemingly against everyone below them. I will never forget how they fought against The Charity's opening.
===========================

CIVIL MEDICAL UNION

I've always admired the work of doctors within the clinic, the hidden heroes of this city. They save more lives on the daily basis than whatever any 'Freedom Fighting' group does in a year. If it weren't for them, I'd still be on crutches at this very moment.
===========================

VORTIGAUNTS

Our species shared history is one of constant death and suffering, yet here we are, all in the same boat. You are wise in your words however, I've never met one of you folks that was ill mannered or dumb.
===========================

RESISTANCE GROUPS

It's a mixed boat with the term "Resistance". Half of em fight for their own self gain within the criminal trade. The other genuinely helps people out when it comes to supplies of food and fresh water.
===========================

CITIZENS

The base role for the complicated hierarchy that is this city...A divide that everyone leads a person to choose their career in this city.

Haven't spoken to the man much, but I have observed him. Poor fellers been through hell recently. I'll keep my eye on him
A tale of sorrow, his story was. From broadcasts of betrayal, to losing his friends closest to him. I hope the Lord above gave peace.

ARTEMIS

Feller was supposedly killed soon after I last saw him, from what I've seen most folk have already forgotten about him, it's a damn shame...

JUNIPER STENHOUSE

|The Dreamer| @villeneuve |
Miss June has been trying to help me out ever since I got to this city, she's a kind soul amidst this smog filled ruin. I'm glad she's living a better life now, she deserves it more than most of us.
I haven't seen her in some time, I hope she's alright. Last I spoke to her, she'd got an importance job down at the CCDE. Hope all goes well.
