I know this has been a problem for a longer time, and I know this probably isn’t something that can be fixed easily like *snap* or whatever. But the CWU are the most powergamey asspulley annoying faction out there.

Just today, I was a unit standing watch as the Workers Union were going at it in the CMRU Labs and destroying debris and cleaning it up. That in itself is completely fine, nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER, the CWU decides to asspull 7 million support beams (for the 8th time), they ignore anything that might occur from them destroying the debris of an already falling apart building and they just do not roleplay consequences.

For example, there was a fast zombie who at like 20 bullets and I quickly backed up and told the CWU workers (and Vort @Tuki ) to back the fuck up for their and my safety, and where Tuki perfectly rp’d the consequence of dropping the beam onto the ground which could probably cave in the building, the CWU worker decided to phys gun it back in place and then instantly toolgun the beam to the other side of the room to finish the construction without /me.

Now, I’m not making this to shit on the player who did that, or to shit on the faction… But this is a problem that I feel should be adressed. The CWU asspulls almost everything and they refuse to roleplay consequences, refuse to P2L, nothing.

I was so tired that I begged @reece to kill me in some way so we could have some actual consequences, which got denied sadly… But then I took matters into my own hand and simply jumped in front of a debris prop a worker was throwing (they complained that it didnt hit me IC after I /me’d getting knocked out by it…)

CWU stuck in a perma loop of suffering on god fr fr

I was the foreman during the shift.
So, for the *asspulling*. We have a situation where a building is literally collapsing, and CP are yelling at us to do something and constantly getting in our ear to keep working and finish it as fast as we could, us being in an industrial made sense to have steel beams ready for setting them up to prevent buildings from collapsing or trying to.
I was in a situation where we were being rushed by the CP's to work, and install support beams, mind you I didn't even come up with the support beams idea, as the collapse was being GMd and it was happening rather fast, on top of the CPs yelling at our ear telling us to work, me being with 2 new members that have no clue what they're doing, it naturally prompted me to I suppose *asspull* these materials, which in a logical world would have existed in an industrial districts factory.
This was also the case of the CWU having a poorly timed event as the workers present were not experienced enough to deal with a RP situation as the building collapsing, if you feel like throwing a rapid escalating and stressful situation at them and hope they dont skip out or miss some steps as I would, you are in the wrong for expecting so much from 3-4 workers. Not only that but if the GMs or the officers wished for more immersive roleplay it could have been requested rather than shouting in IC to do the work faster and then sending a complaint on the forums about the CWU doing the work too fast. I also was would like to state the case that the inexperienced workers had done the /mes which I concluded my job as the prop builder adding the specific props. Like I said if any issues during the situation was present, you could have just requested a more immersive experience through a single LOOC messages.
Oh, one more thing I forgot. You also told the workers that they would die if they didn't work faster, it's very contradictory from your part, your behavior in the entire shift ICly expressed nothing about Serious RP, yet in this forum post it is the complete opposite, make up your mind. You even left next door to pick up a random phone call, and said in a literal Looney Tunes way "Oh, somebody is calling me"
I feel like everything should be cleared here from my post, although you can consider the complaint to be acknowledged as we will discuss it with management as to how we will move forward with future situations where we need materials for an emergency situation such as this.

I believe this situation and many similar situations in the past can simply be boiled down to enablement which causes issues for everyone involved.

When the dystopia is being enforced, and in this case. To actually find a solution, it needs to be outright ignored, unless people want this precedent to continue. You have a server that is open to the public, and they're coming in and joining the CWU as a stepping stone faction. Obviously impressionable people join who want to grind, do whatever they do, advance and maybe develop their character. When WL'ed Civil Protection rolls in and begins ICly issuing death threats / re-education threats, and demanding (x) workshift is done immediately. The worker is going to run along and do their orders. No argument there, that is the likely scenario. People are being forced to rush through things or die. They are going to get it done if individuals with authority walk in and demand shit done. It's being enabled and some form of 'ruling' or 'barrier' needs to be set because a player's nature is self-preservation.

Whilst this is occurring, things in the server are moving. So on top of that, you have another set of orders to complete. And a handful of people (maybe) with authority demanding these other things are done.

The cycle has restarted and things are going to continue being asspulled, rulings disregarded, and people'll run off. This is an OOC Problem and the case of enforcing an 'IC Dystopia' in these particular incidents will solve nothing whatsoever, and we can keep making these threads every other day. We NEED some form of OOC Rules to prevent this type of conduct from happening.

Nanci finds out my IC actions don't represent my OOC beliefs... Insane...

As the CP on location for the whole time until I got knocked out by a piece of Debris, I can assure you I did NOT care for you to work faster or slower or whatever. Actually, and people can second me, I was advocating for the building to be destroyed the entire team, killing me and everyone. This isn't the first time support beams have been introduced to the building and they don't work when a building is literally DECAYING.

I told the workers that they either finish the task, or they die trying. Which is completely reasonable from an IC perspective and you have to note that my IC actions do not represent my OOC actions. I never threatened to kill anyone, I threatened you for doing your third V14, at which point I had enough and I basically put you in time-out for the remainder of the shift.

Sure, support beams could exist in an industrial estate, but where was any of the roleplay? Why didn't you utilise the truck, the vort, the 3 workers who were with you at the start?

This isn't a one time problem, and this isn't entirely your fault, I know that. It's been a problem for longer and as Furious stated we need OOC rules to make this a sure thing and to ensure this won't happen in the future. During my time in the CWU, one time, me and @Neonity had characters who's goal it was to ruin some workshifts and to mix up incredibly important, expensive, rare (as we were told) powder. We spilled it, mixed it, destroyed it and basically ruined the entire shift. But 0 consequences were roleplayed. They just asspulled a new batch of powder and remade the shift and went on with their day.

After reading the topic, and finding older posts on discord about similar complaints, I'm almost certain that a small set of standards or rules should be implemented to deal with such issues; I'm always in favour of any rebel movement when a building is destroyed, a supply chain or any other critical equipment, but 90% of the time any repairs, decisions on a few 'asspull-RPs' are made in an instant to simply make the next thing disappear from the task list. Everyone in the CWU is used to the "I have to do it now or there will be consequences" mindset, which was mainly created in the past and I suppose continues.

Almost nowhere is it written which way is the most correct and doesn't harm either side, there have been instances in the past of GMed hard/soft locks on destroyed parts of a city, but this was mainly the V4 and Terminal6 map where the scene text stated that it couldn't be repaired for X days before supplies arrived ICly and so on. I believe we could see the return of such blockades, but this is definitely a staff/GM thing to discuss and implement.

Delays, blockages based on the number of large working shifts that need to be done, the decision on literal unrepairable buildings that will remain dilapidated for a long time, etc.; This could definitely help in a few areas of the topic, but would require a final consultation so that there is not a situation where someone is again threatening ICly workers to "fix it as soon as possible or die" or where it can dangerously snowball into much more work for us.

No, no I don't think I will talk about the CWU. Thank you.

Only real complaint I have about the CWU is the one time where I tried to get material funding for a research project and they charged 10,000 credits for 100 kilograms total of relatively accessible material (sand, gravel, water, steel and some limestone).

I really hope they don't pull that shit again.

Well, if they do, I know where to direct the MOP hate train.

CWU people that read this...

Don't say you were in the middle of a crisis...

It was something you retconned...
