Clip of Context - Shot by Civil Protection with no /me with no prior RP

There was no active JW, I was NOT an active participant in any hostile activity for the entire day. I got on, walked around, saw rations and stuff closed and then went to eat inside (OOC breakfast wrap tings) and after a little bit some announcement came on talking about access to this block has been restricted. I figured since I was inside a LEGAL SHOP I wouldn't get in the way and I didn't even know what "this block" was to begin with.

As you can see the CP WAS typing a /me but opted out of doing any RP and just waited for the other to say amputate. I didn't think this was the quality of RP I would get from CP's breaking into the shop, but that's what I got....along with like 4 other people. I am not sure if the CP's are exempt from having to ask if S2K is all clear for close range but if that is the case, then I am mistaken for this entire thread I suppose.

The staff refunded everybody assumingly because of how ridiculous this was. I couldn't care less about the scripts though, mainly because I didn't have much. I was just flabbergasted at the lack of RP. I felt like I was playing Deep Gaming or something for a second with how quickly I was shot.

My overall complaint would be that a resistance member wouldn't be able to find a CP somewhere, such as the bar we were in (many do come alone or in pairs for drinks) and walk in before just saying, "Kill him" and gun him down without a /me so why should a CP be allowed if there was no active JW/AJ, and S2K was not agreed upon + I wasn't even the reason for any sort for sweep.

thank you for coming to my rant. Im sure I'll receive some hate for this but you cant tell me from watching the clip that getting gunned down randomly as CP's come in for something unrelated to me was a good RP scenario for either party, unless shooting people in GMOD is what we all came here for.

To add salt to the wound, the CP who told us it was just NLR after gunning us down with nearly zero RP already has a strike - They decided for the second person they should throw in an S2K /me but for me, they didn't even offer me that as seen in the clip

TLDR;
CP'S CAME IN SAID, "ANY LAST WORDS?" I SAID "Wa-What?" and then they use the 'Amputate!' VC before shooting me and like four other people but if rebel group did that it would be problem

This has been forward to Civil Protection leads and high command.

Hi, thanks for the report. It has been an established precedent that witness sterilizations are to occur in sweeps when the socio-stability is fractured (red) or below. This information available publicly at this link https://willard.network/forums/threads/the-escalation-of-protection.10347/ I'm aware it could be hard to miss for newer or even returning players, so we'll make an effort to streamline that information more.

However, I can't excuse the S2King. The faction's received a reminder that they need to wait for reactionary /me's instead of gunning down without warning, but I also failed on my part to announce that S2K was active in the area.

also, these strikes are in-character and don't reflect the player at all.

Sorry that the event put you and others off.

It may be precedent, but I have a lot of issues with how this is handled. I'm going to give you my situation and what happened for me, and I doubt I'm the only one.

At the time of the "event" I was in the middle of some RP, and was preparing to go afk to do some stuff I had to do IRL. We received zero warning OOCly that this was going to happen, which meant two things: One, when I was suddenly killed for seemingly no reason, my heart absolutely sank before I discovered it was NLR--I was immediately in panic mode thinking I was about to lose my character for something.

But two: At the moment when I had to go do things IRL, I get murdered. Now I had to wait for a refund and TRY to find out what the hell was going on, because we were all absolutely lost. Even the GMs had not been informed of this beforehand, as I was told by not one, but two separate GMs while we were in the train station, which means that for the GM side, they were now absolutely bombarded out of nowhere with refund requests. This is absolutely terrible communication on the side of whoever was overseeing this 'witness sterilization'.

I walked back to the slums intending to go grab my items to save the GMs the trouble since they had a ton of other people to help as well. The CPs were exiting the slums when I stepped one foot into the alleyway, rank leader told them to gun me down despite barely being off the street and them already having finished. Second time being killed.

What this meant was that when the GM tried to refund my items, he could not using the script, because I had now died twice, and the refund script only returns your last death's items. Also, I had a +5 intelligence attribute buff at the time, which was not refunded.

But it gets even more ridiculous. You see, an IC friend that was around during the time of this was shot but survived and there was nobody else around to save them IC. So the GM was kind enough to teleport me back to the area because I was already pissed as it was. Now I couldn't go do the things I had to do IRL because I was the only one around to save my IC friend, whose injuries due to this absurd event now had to be taken IC, which meant unneeded medical and emotional roleplay.

I start carrying her to the CMU, and an Officer then has the audacity IC and OOC to actually force us to stop to pat us down, despite the fact that I was IC carrying a literally bleeding to death woman in my arms. I told them in LOOC to just let me take her to the fucking CMU because I was already tired of all of this, but we were forced to wait anyway.

We finally get to the CMU and the interns there stand around chatting, so quarter actually gets onto his character Vivian for me just to take charge and fix the dying woman himself (Seriously, huge props to Quarter, this guy really went out of his way to try to make the entire situation less shit.)

By this point 50 minutes had passed, and my IRL girlfriend was pissed because I had to deal with all of this. Finally now that the friend is in the OR, I'm able to go AFK, shower, apologize to my GF, and do stuff.

It should be very, very clear at this point the multitude of issues with what went down, how it was handled, and communication amongst the staff team and to the players. This is, simply put, one of the silliest things I've ever seen a staff team allow to happen. Precedent or not, this simply isn't good RP or enjoyable for anybody involved.

EDIT: Also, even from an IC perspective; CWU workers and high-tier loyalists regularly frequent the slums. I saw people with yellow and above armbands getting RDM'd. This might have made a lick of sense if they only targetted people not wearing their armband, or with black armbands, but loyalists??? CWU Workers? Hello? This is pure nonsense.

Hi. Sorry again.

The loyalists should probably know best not to be in the slums after a judgement waiver happened

This was roughly 24 hours after a judgement waiver the day before. There were no alarms, no warnings, nothing.
Yes, roughly but not even a day later. The aftereffects of a judgement waiver were still being felt as they should be and Civil Protection protocol regarding them won't be changed any time soon.

Like I posted yesterday, improvements will be made for how these are handled. I gave the faction members a warning and reminder that roleplay interactions aren't completely null during these slum purges. From now on, Rank Leaders and Dispatch players (generally, people with permission to authorize these in the first place) will be responsible for reminding the players of guidelines and expectations of roleplay before beginning the sweep.

Thank you for providing your story.

What Ozzekiel is saying is he accepts the complaint and has put things in place to make sure it is very unlikely to happen again @Matt and @ActuallyRakaesa and I can definatly see the frustration being on the receiving end of it myself. However even the faction leads can only do so much.
