Loan sharking, buying debts and enforcement.

Concept is pretty simple, groups give loans in the form of chips, however in exchange of license to permanently kill the character who receives the loan given they do not pay within given time.

Group is able to credit rate characters, lending only small sums at first for new players to build up their rating and not to run off with huge sums of money after mere minutes after character creation.

The group is also armed enough that they are able to commit debt collection, given that someone has made a loan with proper documentation that has a clause that the debt can be sold to enforcers such as this group.

With said document, the group is able to PK the character upon convenience due to unpaid debts.

Similar document can be sold further to external debt collectors, such as this hypothetical group.

Why is this good?
  1. Encourages more risk with both lending and accepting loans.
  2. Gives credibility for an unrelated character in executing a character, a PK warrant if you may. This can be leveraged during interaction of debt collection.
  3. Enables normal players to have some form of security with lending, if they do not have the proper equipment or resources - they can sell the debt off with a slight loss or potential profit - if the debt collecting groups has interest.
- Requires documentation and references to verify validity of debt

Yesss, permanently kill the guy who owes you money, great for cash money.

I like the idea but being able to PK someone for missing one loan payment is dumb, definitely 2+ missed payments, if a guy misses one they have full license to beat up the fucker though.

It's consensual as long as the player consents with the loan terms that if they do not pay, they can be PK'd and that license to be PK'd can be sold further.

I think that they should be given a hefty bit of leeway in terms of time, given that earning chips in the first place is sporadic and unpredictable.

It's an iterative process, if you reached ends meet on your previous character - you'll be more prepared on the next one. Furthermore, binding oneself to the conditions of a loan is fully up to one's own choice, accept the PK upon fail clause if you're ready to spice up your gameplay.

Take out big ass loan. Go inactive. Come back on once loan sharkers are inevitably killed.
Throwaway characters so you can bankrupt them, yet keep the money on your second character. Using your other characters as shell characters.

It is up to the loansharkers risk here to estimate on the likelihood of you doing this. However, if you lended from a normal player who then sold the debt to the loansharks, the sold debt may have been very cheap since it involves the high risk of you not logging on.

Essentially a paper to PK you for cheap, which increases heavily in value if you become active again on that character.

Maybe have a system where the first time they break your legs.
Second time they kill you.

All is based on the terms of the loan contract which the borrower accepts. If we're going to implement systems that are standards, We need to have separate rules on what a loan contract may or may not agree. However, discourse on what is fair or functional is always good. I believe though that having that PK clause is worth a lot of money.

Just go for it my man, then see how far it gets you, trial and error.
